Two new phenolic glycosides, 3, 4-dihydroxy-allylbenzene-3-O-alpha -L-rhamnopyranosyl (1 -->6)beta -d-glucopyranoside (1) and 3, 4-dihydroxy-allylbenzene-3-O-alpha -L-rhamnopyranosyl (1 -->2) beta -d-glucopyranoside (2), were isolated from the barks of Magnolia rostrata. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical methods, specially 2d NMR techniques.

The brassinosteroid （BR） receptor, BR insensitive 1 （BRI1）, plays a critical role in plant development, but whether BRI1-mediated BR signaling is involved in plant defense responses to herbivores was largely unknown. Here, we examined the function of BRI1 in the resistance of Nicotiana attenuata （Solanaceae） to its specialist insect herbivore Manduca sexta. Jasmonic acid （JA） and JA-isoleucine conjugate （JA-Ile） are important hormones that mediate resistance to herbivores and we found that after wounding or simulated herbivory NaBRI1 had little effect on JA levels, but was important for the induction of JA-Ile. Further experiments revealed that decreased JAR （the enzyme for JA-Ile production） activity and availability of Ile in NaBRI1-silenced plants were likely responsible for the low JA-Ile levels. Consistently, M. sexta larvae gained more weight on NaBRI1-silenced plants than on the control plants. Quantification of insect feeding-induced secondary metabolites revealed that silencing NaBRI1 resulted in decreased levels of carbon-rich defensive secondary metabolites （hydroxygeranyllinalool diterpene glycosides, chlorogenic acid, and rutin）, but had little effect on the nitrogen-rich ones （nicotine and trypsin proteinase inhibitors）. Thus, NaBRI1-mediated BR signaling is likely involved in plant defense responses to M. sexta, including maintaining JA-Ile levels and the accumulation of several carbon-rich defensive secondary metabolites.

Electrical characteristics of Co/n-Si Schottky barrier diodes are analysed by current- voltage （I- V） and capacitancevoltage （C- V） techniques at room temperature. The electronic parameters such as ideality factor, barrier height and average series resistance are determined. The barrier height 0. 76 eV obtained from the C - V measurements is higher than that of the value 0. 70 eV obtained from the I - V measurements. The series resistance Rs and the ideality factor n are determined from the d ln（ I） /dV plot and are found to be 193.62 Ω and 1.34, respectively. The barrier height and the Rs value are calculated from the H（I） - I plot and are found to be 0.71 eV and 205.95Ω. Furthermore, the energy distribution of the interface state density is determined from the forward bias I - V characteristics by taking into account the bias dependence of the effective barrier height. The interface state density Nss ranges from 6.484×10^11 cm^-2eV^-1 in （Ec - 0.446） eV to 2.801×10^10 cm^-2eV^-1 in （Ec - 0.631） eV, of the Co/n-Si Schottky barrier diode. The results show the presence of a thin interracial layer between the metal and the semiconductor.

As the principal ore mineral in various tungsten(-gold)deposits,scheelite(CaWO_(4))plays an important role in directly dating the timing of ore formation,and in tracing associated material sources through the study of its sm-Nd geochronology and Nd isotopic *** the retention of sm-Nd systematics within scheelite is presently unconstrained,equivocal interpretations for isotopic data resulting from this method have occurred quite often in previous studies that apply these isotopic *** order to better elucidate the closure of sm-Nd in scheelite,the kinetics of sm and Nd within this mineral lattice were investigated through calculation of diffusion constants presented *** following Arrhenius relations were obtained:d_(Nd)=4.00exp(-438 kJ·mol^(–1)/RT)cm^(2)/s d_(sm)=1.85exp(-427 kJ·mol^(–1)/RT)cm^(2)/s showing diffusion rate of Nd is near identical to sm in scheelite when at the same ***,compared to other rare earth elements(REEs),which have markedly different atomic radii to either Nd or sm,these are shown to exhibit a great variation in *** observed trends in our data are in excellent agreement with the diffusion characteristics of REEs in other tetragonal ABO4 minerals,indicating that ionic radius is a key constraint to the diffusivity of REEs in the various crystal *** this in mind,the same substitution mechanism and a very slight discrepancy in radii will allow us to infer that significant sm/Nd diffusional fractionation in scheelite is unlikely to occur during most geological *** upon the diffusion data determined herein,sm and Nd closure temperatures and retention times in scheelite are discussed in terms of diffusion *** results suggest that closure temperatures for sm-Nd within this mineral are relatively high in contrast to the temperature ranges of ore-formation responsible for scheelite-related deposits,and any later thermal *** is likely,therefore,that rel

Localized surface plasmon resonance(LSPR)biosensing based on supported metal nanoparticles offers unparalleled possibilities for high-end miniaturization,multiplexing and high-throughput label-free molecular interaction analysis in real time when integrated within an opto-fluidic ***,such LSPR-sensing devices typically contain extremely large regions of dielectric materials that are open to molecular adsorption,which must be carefully blocked to avoid compromising the device *** address this issue,we made the support essentially invisible to the LSPR by carefully removing the dielectric material overlapping with the localized plasmonic fields through optimized *** resulting LSPR substrate,which consists of gold nanodisks centered on narrow SiO2 pillars,exhibits markedly reduced vulnerability to nonspecific substrate adsorption,thus allowing,in an ideal case,the implementation of thicker and more efficient passivation *** demonstrate that this approach is effective and fully compatible with state-of-the-art multiplexed real-time biosensing technology and thus represents the ideal substrate design for high-throughput label-free biosensing systems with minimal sample consumption.

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome phlebovirus(SFTSV)has a wide host *** only has it been found in humans,but also in many wild and domesticated *** infection of breeding deer on farms is a particularly worrisome public health concern due to the large amount of human contact and the diverse use of deer products,including raw *** investigate the prevalence of breeding domesticated deer,we examined the SFTSV infection rate on deer farms in South Korea from 2015 to *** the 215 collected blood samples,0.9%(2/215)were found to be positive for viral RNA by PCR,and sequence analysis showed the highest homology with the KAdGH human *** SFTSVspecific recombinant N and Gn protein-based ELIS As revealed that 14.0%(30/215)and 7.9%(17/215)of collected blood specimens were positive for SFTSV *** results demonstrate that the breeding farm deer are exposed to SFTSV and could be a potential infection source for humans through direct contact or consumption of byproducts.

AIM To compare the aspiration needle(AN) and core biopsy needle(PC) in endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration(EUS-FNA) of abdominal *** Consecutive patients referred for EUS-FNA were included in this prospective single-center trial. Each patient underwent a puncture of the lesion with both standard 22-gauge(G) AN(Echo Tip Ultra; Cook Medical, Bloomington, Indiana, United States) and the novel 22 G PC(Echo Tip Pro Core; Cook Medical, Bloomington, Indiana, United States) in a randomized fashion; histology was attempted in the PC group only. The main study endpoint was the overall diagnostic accuracy, including the contribution of histology to the final diagnosis. Secondary outcome measures included material adequacy, number of needle passes, and *** Fifty six consecutive patients(29 men; mean age 68 years) with pancreatic lesions(n = 38), lymphadenopathy(n = 13), submucosal tumors(n = 4), or others lesions(n = 1) underwent EUS-FNA using both of the needles in a randomized order. AN and PC reached similar overall results for diagnostic accuracy(AN: 88.9 vs PC: 96.1, P = 0.25), specimen adequacy(AN: 96.4% vs PC: 91.1%, P = 0.38), mean number of passes(AN: 1.5 vs PC: 1.7, P = 0.14), mean cellularity score(AN: 1.7 vs PC: 1.1, P = 0.058), and complications(none). A diagnosis on the basis of histology was achieved in the PC group in 36(64.3%) patients, and in 2 of those as the sole modality. In patients with available histology the mean cellularity score was higher for AN(AN: 1.7 vs PC: 1.0, P = 0.034); no other differences were of statistical *** Both needles achieved high overall diagnostic yields and similar performance characteristics for cytological diagnosis; histological analysis was only possible in 2/3 of cases with the new needle.
