Diffusion of Sm-Nd in Scheelite and its Significance to Isotopic Dating and Tracing

As the principal ore mineral in various tungsten(-gold)deposits,scheelite(CaWO_(4))plays an important role in directly dating the timing of ore formation,and in tracing associated material sources through the study of its Sm-Nd geochronology and Nd isotopic *** the retention of Sm-Nd systematics within scheelite is presently unconstrained,equivocal interpretations for isotopic data resulting from this method have occurred quite often in previous studies that apply these isotopic *** order to better elucidate the closure of Sm-Nd in scheelite,the kinetics of Sm and Nd within this mineral lattice were investigated through calculation of diffusion constants presented *** following Arrhenius relations were obtained:D_(Nd)=4.00exp(-438 kJ·mol^(–1)/RT)cm^(2)/s D_(Sm)=1.85exp(-427 kJ·mol^(–1)/RT)cm^(2)/s showing diffusion rate of Nd is near identical to Sm in scheelite when at the same ***,compared to other rare earth elements(REEs),which have markedly different atomic radii to either Nd or Sm,these are shown to exhibit a great variation in *** observed trends in our data are in excellent agreement with the diffusion characteristics of REEs in other tetragonal ABO4 minerals,indicating that ionic radius is a key constraint to the diffusivity of REEs in the various crystal *** this in mind,the same substitution mechanism and a very slight discrepancy in radii will allow us to infer that significant Sm/Nd diffusional fractionation in scheelite is unlikely to occur during most geological *** upon the diffusion data determined herein,Sm and Nd closure temperatures and retention times in scheelite are discussed in terms of diffusion *** results suggest that closure temperatures for Sm-Nd within this mineral are relatively high in contrast to the temperature ranges of ore-formation responsible for scheelite-related deposits,and any later thermal *** is likely,therefore,that rel

Convolutional neural network to learn building-shape representations for early-stage energy design

Machine learning(ML)supports energy-efficient design by quickly predicting the building performance at early ***,existing ML approaches cannot easily learn geometrical representations and their interactions with technical specifications for predicting *** approaches of artificial neural networks(ANN)use either numerical parameters to represent building geometry or component-based ML(CBML)to train trans-ferrable ML ***,both approaches have high generalisation errors for complex *** used a convolutional neural network(CNN)to learn geometrical representations of buildings and an autoencoder to optimise the training *** test existing approaches of ANN and CBML with a proposed approach of CNN for different sizes of training *** the biggest training dataset,ANN,CBML,and CNN have generalisation errors(root-mean-squared errors)of 1.35,1.60,and 0.77 kWh/a.m 2,*** CBML has lower prediction errors on small datasets,CNN is more suitable for large ***,CNN most often has better prediction accuracy than ANN and trains faster on encoded *** CNN captures the effects of building geometry on energy predictions better than ANN and CBML approaches,it is an attractive choice for early-stage energy design.

The use of electronic signatures as a form of identification is increasingly common,yet they have been shown to lack the dynamic features found in online *** this study,handwritten signatures were scanned to produce electronically scanned signatures(ESS)which were then digitally altered to produce digitally constructed signatures(DCS).The ESS and DCS were presented back to participants to identify which were *** 1%of participants correctly identified all signatures,with a mean score of 57.6%*** lack of self-recognition of ESS raises questions on their reliability and usefulness as means of personal identification.

Litter buffet:On the use of trash bins by birds in six boreal urban settlements

Unintentional food resources in urban areas(street litter,food leftovers,overflowing trash bins)are dietary components of some urban-exploiter bird *** this study,we report on 13 bird species in six southern Finnish cities using urban trash bins and describe differences in their activity when provided with food resources(i.e.,bait)in different bin *** used generalized linear models(GLM)and classification and regression trees(CART)to test for associations between environmental variables and bird activity at the *** activity at the binscapes significantly differed among all cities and among types of bins and was significantly higher after placing bait in all *** with the largest opening had more activity as opposed to those with smaller openings or *** and gulls had the highest activity,with corvids usually being present before the bait was placed and gulls increasing their activity *** differences show that trash bin foraging is highly malleable and thus susceptible to management preventing its *** waste management measures could aid in reducing the number of species close to bins and their surroundings,benefiting both bird and human health.

为有效提升城市公园游客满意度,依据游客满意度理论,以滨州中海公园为研究案例地,通过文献研究法、问卷调查法等,从自然资源、娱乐项目、生态环境、服务设施、服务质量和交通出行6个维度研究游客满意度现状,并构建IPA模型。IPA模型的4个象限中,表现良好区的景观特色等5个因子优势明显,需要继续保持;额外资源区的植物多样性等7个因子重要性较低,可以在短时间内维持现状;缓慢改进区的项目多样性等5个因子对游客满意度体验的影响较小,可在后期逐步改进;在重点改进区,为城市公园的景观优美性、景点数量、卫生设施、安保设施、医疗设施、服务态度和服务效率7个方面提出具体建议,努力提升游客满意度。

Aqueous supercapacitors(SCs)have been regarded as a promising candidate for commercial energy storage device due to their superior safety,low cost,and environmental ***,an age-old challenge of achieving both long electrode lifespan and qualified energy-storage property blocks their practical ***,we develop an electrode-electrolyte integrated optimization strategy to fulfill the real-life device *** optimization simultaneously regulates the nanomorphology and surface chemistry of the tungsten oxide anode,resulting in superior electrochemical performance given by an ideal“bird-nest”structure with optimal oxygen vacancy status;the anodes interact with and are protected from dissolution and structural collapse by the rationally designed hybrid electrolyte with optimized pH and facilitated cation desorption ***,a record-breaking durability of no capacitive decay after 250000 cycles is *** the basis of this integrated optimization,the first aqueous pouch SCs with real-life practicability were manufactured by a soft-package encapsulation technique,which can steadily power commercial 3 C products such as tablets and smartphones and maintain safely working against extreme *** work demonstrates the possibility of using aqueous energy storage devices with enhanced safety and lower cost to replace the commercial organic counterparts for wide range of daily applications.

Profiling elite male 100-m sprint performance:The role of maximum velocity and relative acceleration

Purpose:This study aimed to determine the accuracy of a 4 split time modelling method to generate velocity-time and velocity-distance variables in elite male 100-m sprinters and subsequently to assess the roles of key sprint parameters with respect to 100-m sprint ***,this study aimed to assess the differences between faster and slower sprinters in key sprint variables that have not been assessed in previous ***:Velocity-time and velocity-distance curves were generated using a mono-exponential function from 4 split times for 82 male sprinters during major athletics *** race variables-maximum velocity,the acceleration time constant(τ),and percentage of velocity lost(vLoss)-were derived for each *** were divided into tertiles,based on 100-m time,with the first and third tertiles considered to be the faster and slower groups,respectively,to facilitate further ***:Modelled split times and velocities displayed excellent accuracy and close agreement with raw measures(range of mean bias was-0.2%to 0.2%,and range of intraclass correlation coefficients(ICCs)was 0.935 to 0.999)except for 10-m time(mean bias was 1.6%±1.3%,and the ICC was 0.600).The 100-m sprint performance time and all 20-m split times had a significant near-perfect negative correlation with maximum velocity(r≥-0.90)except for the 0 to 20-m split time,where a significantly large negative correlation was found(r=-0.57).The faster group had a significantly higher maximum velocity andτ(p<0.001),and no significant difference was found for vLoss(p=0.085).Conclusion:Coaches and researchers are encouraged to utilize the 4 split time method proposed in the current study to assess several key race variables that describe a sprinter’s performance capacities,which can be subsequently used to further inform training.

A comparative study on microstructure,nanomechanical and corrosion behaviors of AlCoCuFeNi high entropy alloys fabricated by selective laser melting and laser metal deposition

The present study investigated the microstructure,nanomechanics,and corrosion behavior of AlCoCuFeNi high entropy alloys fabricated by selective laser melting(SLM)and laser metal deposition(LMD).The microstructure of SLM-processed specimens was mainly composed of columnar-grained BCC matrix(^90μm in width)and Cu-rich twinned FCC *** columnar grains grew epitaxially along the building direction and exhibited a strong{001}*** comparison,a coarse columnar-grained BCC matrix(^150μm in width)with a strongertexture,rod-like B2 precipitates,and large core-shell structured FCC phases were formed in the LMD-processed specimens due to the higher heat accumulation ***,the LMD-processed specimens showed a lower hardness,wear resistance,and corrosion resistance,but higher creep resistance and reduced Young's modulus than the SLM-processed *** cracks occurred in both types of specimens,which could not be completely suppressed due to Cu segregation.

Evolution of Ordovician YJ1X ultra-deep oil reservoir in the Yuecan oilfield, Tarim Basin, NW China

Based on a combined in-situ calcite U-Pb dating, molecular geochemical correlations of reservoir oil and extract from reservoir rocks, and fluid inclusion analysis, the charge and evolution history of the YJ1X ultra-deep oil reservoir of the Ordovician Yijianfang Formation in the southwestern part of the Tabei Uplift has been determined systematically.(1) The reservoir oil, free oil and inclusion oil have similar geochemical characteristics and are presumably derived from marine source rock deposited in similar sedimentary environment.(2) The reservoir oil, free oil and inclusion oil have similar maturities with calculated equivalent vitrinite reflectance values in the range of 0.80%-0.96%.(3) Two types(Group Ⅰ and Ⅱ) of oil inclusion assemblages(OIAs) have been identified in the reservoir, of which Group Ⅰ represents the original gas-saturated oil entering the trap during the initial oil charge, whereas Group Ⅱ represents undersaturated residual oil retained in the reservoir after minor leakage of light hydrocarbon.(4) The reservoir experienced oil charge only once during the Early Devonian around 425 Ma and has been well preserved after the minor light hydrocarbon leakage in the Middle Devonian. The study shows that there may be old oil and gas accumulations in ultra-deep strata of petroliferous basins with well-developed caprock and stable tectonic background.
