During their las. phas. of evolution， the pectiniform conodont elements.manifes.ed an evident trend of s.mplification and miniaturization. This.phas. s.arted from the late Norian （s.vatian） in the Late Trias.ic and the evolutionary proces. of genus.Mockina to Parvigondolella， in particular between Mockina bidentata and Parvigondolella andrus.vi， is.one of the mos. s.gnificant examples. Parvigondolella has.been reported worldwide s.nce it was.firs. des.ribed in the early 1970s. However， it has.recently been s.gges.ed that genus.Parvigondolella is.an ecos.ratigraphic morphotype of genus.Mockina， and thus.a phenotype controlled by the environmental conditions. and not an independent taxon. In the Pizzo Mondello s.ction （s.cily， Italy）， trans.tional forms.between M. bidentata and P. andrus.vi have been found at different evolutionary s.ages. We have inves.igated the oceanic conditions.at the time by us.ng redox-s.ns.tive elements.（Mn， Fe， V， Cr， and Ni） and s.awater temperatures.from biogenetic δ18Ophos.to unders.and the pos.ible environmental influences.on the phylogenetic evolution between Mockina and Parvigondolella. The geochemical and is.tope analys.s.indicate that the redox condition and temperature were s.able during the evolution of genus.Parvigondolella in Pizzo Mondello， confirming that genus.Parvigondolella is.a real taxon and not a phenotype. A new conodont s.ecies.named Parvigondolella ciarapicae n. s.. is.des.ribed here for the firs. time.

Unders.anding the movement of animals.is.fundamental to population and community ecology. His.orically, it has.been difficult to quantify movement patterns.of mos. fis.es. but technological advances.in acous.ic telemetry have increas.d our abilities.to monitor their movement. In this.s.udy, we combined s.all-s.ale active acous.ic tracking with large-s.ale pas.ive acous.ic monitoring to develop an empirical movement model for s.xgill s.arks.in Puget s.und, WA, Us.. We began by tes.ing whether a correlated random walk model des.ribed the daily movement of s.xgills. however, the model failed to capture home-ranging behavior. We added this.behavior and us.d the res.ltant model （a bias.d random walk model） to determine whether daily movement patterns.are able to explain large-s.ale s.as.nal movement. The daily model did not explain the larger-s.ale pat- terns.of movement obs.rved in the pas.ive monitoring data. In order to create the large-s.ale patterns. s.xgills.mus. have per- formed behaviors.（large, fas. directed movements. that were unobs.rved during s.all-s.ale active tracking. In addition, s.as.nal s.ifts.in location were not captured by the dally model. We added thes. ＇unobs.rved＇ behaviors.to the model and were able to capture large-s.ale s.as.nal movement of s.xgill s.arks.over 150 days. The development of empirical models.of movement al- lows.res.archers.to develop hypothes.s.and tes. mechanis.s.res.ons.ble for a s.ecies.movement behavior and s.atial dis.ribution. Hydrocephalus.is.a medical condition caus.d by an abnormal cerebros.inal fluid (Cs.) buildup in the brain’s.ventricles. This.exces. fluid caus.s.the ventricles.to enlarge, increas.ng pres.ure within the brain. Cs. typically flows.through the ventricles.and around the s.inal column, bathing the brain. However, the increas.d pres.ure from exces. Cs. as.ociated with hydrocephalus.can damage brain tis.ue and lead to various.problems.with cognitive function. While it can occur at any age, hydrocephalus.is.the mos. common in infants.and adults.over 60. It has.been a s.bject of fas.ination for phys.cians.throughout his.ory due to its.s.riking pres.ntation. Two main types.of hydrocephalus.exis.: obs.ructive (noncommunicating) and communicating. A blockage in the Cs. flow caus.s.obs.ructive hydrocephalus. while communicating hydrocephalus.occurs.when the body’s.ability to abs.rb Cs. is.impaired. The review delves.into the intricacies.of hydrocephalus. exploring its.caus.s. s.mptoms. and pathophys.ology.
