Dual encoding feature filtering generalized attention UNET for retinal vessel segmentation

Retinal blood vessel segmentation is crucial for diagnosing ocular and cardiovascular *** the introduction of U-Net in 2015 by Olaf Ronneberger significantly advanced this field,yet issues like limited training data,imbalance data distribution,and inadequate feature extraction persist,hindering both the segmentation performance and optimal model *** these critical issues,the DEFFA-Unet is proposed featuring an additional encoder to process domain-invariant pre-processed inputs,thereby improving both richer feature encoding and enhanced model generalization.A feature filtering fusion module is developed to ensure the precise feature filtering and robust hybrid feature *** response to the task-specific need for higher precision where false positives are very costly,traditional skip connections are replaced with the attention-guided feature reconstructing fusion ***,innovative data augmentation and balancing methods are proposed to counter data scarcity and distribution imbalance,further boosting the robustness and generalization of the *** a comprehensive suite of evaluation metrics,extensive validations on four benchmark datasets(DRIVE,CHASEDB1,STARE,and HRF)and an SLO dataset(IOSTAR),demonstrate the proposed method’s superiority over both baseline and state-of-the-art *** the proposed method significantly outperforms the compared methods in cross-validation model generalization.

A Study on Edge Segmentation of Different Types of Datasets with Multiple Algorithms

In this paper, we study edge detection or segmentation, which is recognized as a rudiment innovation as it can evaluate sharpness and analyze object boundaries. That’s the reason it has been an influential figure in the image-processing era. Because of this, it has a significant influence in the age of image processing. On the other hand, edge detection is the process of dividing an image into discontinuous regions. It specifies the intensity shift connected to the image’s edge. There are several methods for detecting edges. Four edge identification methods on satellite images and satellite images affected by Gaussian noise were examined. Known edge detection technologies such as Canny, Prewitt, Scharr, and Robert operators are included in this study. Additionally, the key feature of an image for evaluating its quality is the Image Quality Assessment (IQA) measure. We primarily take into account SSIM, MSE, PSNR, and RMSE when assessing image quality. Experimental validation has been obtained for the application of the Canny and Prewitt algorithms to the satellite dataset. However, when the Gaussian Noise effect is added to the same dataset, clever edge detection performs better.

Superiority of Strontium-Doped Barium Titanate as an Electron Transport for Perovskite Solar Cells for Enhanced Efficiency and Thermal Stability

This study presents a detailed comparative analysis of three electron transport layer（ETL） materials for perovskite solar cells（PSCs）,namely titanium dioxide（TiO2）,barium titanate（BaTiO3or BTO）,and strontium-doped barium titanate(Ba1-xSrxTiO3or BST),and their impact on the quantum efficiency（QE） and power conversion efficiency（PCE） of CH3NH3PbI3（MAPbI3） *** optimized structure demonstrates that devices utilizing BST as an ETL achieved the highest PCE of 29.85%,exhibiting superior thermal stability with the lowest temperature coefficient of-0.43%/*** temperature-induced degradation is comparable to that of commercially available silicon ***,BST-based ETLs show 29.50% and 26.48% higher PCE than those of TiO2-based and BTO-based *** enhanced internal QE and favorable current density-voltage（J-V） characteristics of BST compared with those of TiO2and BTO are attributed to its improved charge carrier separation,reduced recombination rates,and robust electrical characteristics under varied environmental ***,the electric field and generation rate of the BST-based ETLs show a more favorable distribution than those of the TiO2-based and BTO-based *** findings provide significant insights into the role of different ETLs in enhancing QE,indicating that BST is a superior ETL that enhances both the efficiency and stability of *** study contributes to the understanding of how perovskite-structured ETLs can be used to design and optimize highly efficient and stable photovoltaic devices.

Canopy openings have a vital role in forest structure,regeneration,and plant *** this study,we investigated and compared the species composition and densities of seedlings and saplings between canopy gaps(openings)and forest understories(in dense canopies)in a sub-tropical forest of *** objectively identified 42 canopy openings between transect lines and 42 main plots in dense canopies,sampled for regeneration and young tree *** the regeneration study,we placed 2 m×2 m four subplots in each canopy opening and the main plot of dense canopy,thus making a total of 336 *** species diversity of seedlings,saplings,and trees were significantly(P≤0.05)higher in the dense canopy than in the canopy ***,most dominant and frequent regenerating species such as Diospyros pilosula,Garcinia cowa,Brownlowia elata,and Lithocarpus polystachya were common in both dense canopy and openings,the canopy openings had the highest Importance Value Index,suggesting the significance of gap dynamics in the dominance of native floral *** dense canopy played an important role in forest compositions because 12 regenerating species,including Stereospermum suaveolens and Diospyros montana,were not found in the canopy openings,implying that rain forests must maintain a high canopy cover for regeneration.

Factors affecting smallholder farmers' adaptive capacity to climate change:A comparative study of Nepal, India, and Bangladesh

Agriculture, significantly impacted by climate change and climate variability, serves as the primary livelihood for smallholder farmers in South Asia. This study aims to examine and evaluate the factors influencing smallholder farmers' adaptive capacity(AC) in addressing these risks through surveys from 633 households across Nepal, India, and Bangladesh. The findings reveal that AC is influenced by various indicators categorized under eight principal factors. The first three factors, which explain about one-third of the variance in each country,include distinct significant indicators for each nation: in Nepal, these indicators are landholding size, skill-development training, knowledge of improved seed varieties, number of income sources, access to markets, and access to financial institutions; in India, they encompass access to agricultural-input information, knowledge of seed varieties, access to markets, access to crop insurance, changing the sowing/harvesting times of crops, and access to financial services; in Bangladesh, the key factors are access to financial institutions, community cooperation, changing the sowing/harvesting times of crops, knowledge of improved seed varieties,and access to agricultural-input information. Notably, indicators such as trust in weather information, changing sowing/harvesting times of crops, and crop insurance were identified as important determinants of AC, which have been overlooked in previous studies.

Assessment of Arsenic in Rice and Cooked Rice in Meherpur, Bangladesh: Associated Health Risks Implications

Arsenic is a toxic element. Chronic exposure to arsenic can pose a variety of health problems including cancers, lung disease, skin lesions, diabetes, gangrene, reproductive disorders, hypertension, and heart disease. Globally the concern of arsenic is growing day by day. Addressing this concern, the study aimed to assess the arsenic level in raw rice grain and rice cooked with tubewell water and rainwater. The study was conducted at the Sholotaka Union of Gangni Upazila in Meherpur District of Khulna Division, Bangladesh in 2023. For this purpose, seven raw samples including rice grain, rainwater and tubewell water samples and six cooked rice samples were analyzed. Rice and water samples were digested using the USEPA method-3050B in Arsenic Center Jashore, under Asia Arsenic Network, Japan. The arsenic level in the samples was tested using the HG-AAS method using a Shimadzu model AA7000 (Japan) Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The study’s findings revealed that arsenic concentration in rainwater samples consistently displays 0 mg/l indicating the absence of arsenic in this sample. Three (03) tube well water samples and three (03) raw rice grain samples showed a significant variation in arsenic concentration. The mean value of tubewell water samples T1, T2, and T3 was found 0.53 ± 0.003 mg/l, 0.31 ± 0.003 mg/l, and 0.65 ± 0.002 mg/l, respectively. Whereas raw rice grain samples RG1 showed a mean of 0.607 ± 0.007 mg/kg, RG2 at 0.458 ± 0.008 mg/kg, and RG3 at 0.7145 ± 0.001 mg/kg. The study found that rice cooked with tubewell water contained a higher arsenic concentration than rice cooked with rainwater. The most prominent finding of this study was that cooked rice using rainwater had a lower amount of arsenic than the raw rice grain. So, it is clearly said that using rainwater can minimize the amount of arsenic. Furthermore, the study indicates that the health risks associated with arsenic exposure have increased. Sensing and Uptake of Nitrogen in Rice Plant: A Molecular View

As a main feature of plant autotrophy, assimilation of inorganic nitrogen (N) is not only of fundamental interest to the crop, but also a crucial factor in crop productivity. N is the main plant mineral nutrient needed for chlorophyll production and other plant cell components (proteins, nucleic acids and amino acids). I highlighted the novel aspects of N responsive sensors, transporters and signaling molecules recently identified in the monocot rice plant, and discussed their potential roles in N sensing and transporting. Furthermore, over the last couple of years, N sensing has been shown to be affected by different external factors, which act as local signals to trigger systemic signaling coordinated by long-distance transport or mobile signals in plant body. Understanding of this complex regulatory network provides a foundation mechanism for the development of novel strategies to increase the acquisition and transportation efficiency of nitrogen under varying N conditions for rice production.

MOVPE Growth of In_xGa_(1-x)N(x～0.4) and Fabrication of Homo-junction Solar Cells

The metal organic vapor phase epitaxy （MOVPE） growth of indium gallium nitride （InGaN） has been discussed in detail towards the fabrication of solar cell. The InGaN film with In contents up to 0.4 are successfully grown by controlling the fundamental growth parameters such as the precursor gas flow rates, temperature etc. The formation of metallic In originates from the higher value （0.74） of trimethylindium/ （trimethylindium ＋ triethylgallium）（TMI/（TMI ＋ TEG）） molar ratio with low （4100） V/lll weight molar ratio while the lower value （0.2） of TMI/（TMI ＋ TEG） causes the phase separation. It is also necessary to control the growth rate and epitaxial film thickness to suppress the phase separation in the material. The crystalline quality of grown films is studied and it is found to be markedly deteriorated with increasing In content. The lattice parameters as well as the thermal expansion coefficient mismatch between GaN template and InGaN epi-layer are primarily considered as the reasons to deteriorate the film quality for higher In content. By using Ino.16Ga0.84N films, an n＋-p homo-junction structure is fabricated on 0.65 μm GaN template. For such a device, the response to the light illumination （AM 1.5） is observed with an open circuit voltage of 1.4 V and the short circuit current density of 0.25 mA/cm2. To improve the performance as well as increase solar photon capturing, the device is further fabricated on thick GaN template with higher In content. The In0.25Ga0.75N n＋-p junction solar cell is found better performance with an open circuit voltage of 1.5 V and the short circuit current density of 0.5 mA/cm2. This is the InGaN p-n homo-junction solar cell with the highest In content ever reported by MOVPE.
