Healing effect of aloe vera gel,in non-healed ulcers

Objective:Aloe Vera gel(AVG) has a prominent role as a contemporary folk *** Non-healed chronic ulcers of 16 non-responders to conventional treatment were treated with AVG for which the clinical efficacy was ***:This study included 16 patients having chronic ulcer(9 males and 7 females) with mean age of 41.8±14.6 who following failure treatment to conventional therapy,were dispensed AVG to apply. AVG is consisted from gel part of Aloe Vera plant plus one preservative material,in this study ECG jelly. The patients were assessed as responder whenever intensity of inflammation,the number and /or the size of ulcers have been ***:The period of time till healing(complete or reduction in size of ulcer), were from 5 to 160 days with mean of 31.2±36.4 *** mean time of decreasing for secreting,swelling and redness was from 5-11 *** coefficient of correlation,showed no significant correlation between first size and depth of ulcer and timing till 50%reduction in size of ***:All patients had been treated with conventional treatment all to no *** were some full thickness ulcer which at the end of treatment we observed an improvement and normal skin for those *** was a minor complication like itching in one patient but no leading to stop *** findings suggest that AVG is an excellent and safer choice than current conventional therapeutic management of chronic ulcers.

Heuristic Approaches for Cell Formation in Cellular Manufacturing

Cellular Manufacturing System (CMS) is an application of Group Technology (GT) that allows decomposing a manu-facturing system into subsystems. Grouping the machines and parts in a cellular manufacturing system, based on simi-larities is known as cell formation problem (CFP) which is an NP-hard problem. In this paper, a mathematical model is proposed for CFP and is solved using the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Simulated Annealing (SA) meta-heuristic methods and the results are compared. The computational results show that the GA method is more effective in solving the model.

Analysis of Computer Network Reliability and Criticality: Technique and Features

The paper describes modern technologies of Computer Network Reliability. Software tool is developed to estimate of the CCN critical failure probability (construction of a criticality matrix) by results of the FME(C)A-technique. The internal information factors, such as collisions and congestion of switchboards, routers and servers, influence on a network reliability and safety (besides of hardware and software reliability and external extreme factors). The means and features of Failures Modes and Effects (Critical) Analysis (FME(C)A) for reliability and criticality analysis of corporate computer networks (CCN) are considered. The examples of FME(C)A-Technique for structured cable system (SCS) is given. We also discuss measures that can be used for criticality analysis and possible means of criticality reduction. Finally, we describe a technique and basic principles of dependable development and deployment of computer networks that are based on results of FMECA analysis and procedures of optimization choice of means for fault-tolerance ensuring.

Tioxolone niosomes exert antileishmanial effects on Leishmania tropica by promoting promastigote apoptosis and immunomodulation

Objective: To explore the antileishmanial effect of tioxolone and its niosomal form against Leishmania tropica. Methods: Tioxolone niosomes were prepared by the hydration method and were evaluated for morphology, size, release study, and encapsulation efficiency. The cytotoxicity of tioxolone and its niosomal form was measured by MTT assay, leishmanicidal activity against promastigote and amastigote by MTT assay, apoptosis by flow cytometry, IL-12, IL-10 and metacaspase gene expression levels by q-PCR. Results: Span/Tween 40 and Span/Tween 60 niosomes had good physical stability as depicted in their size distribution curves and high encapsulation efficiency(>99%). The release profile of the entrapped compounds showed Fickian’s model of tioxolone delivery based on diffusion through lipid bilayers. With the IC50 value for amastigote as(24.5±2.1) μg/mL and selectivity index as 10.5, the Span/Tween 60 niosome(NT2) had a superior effect to other drugs. The CC50 value and IC50 of promastigote value for NT2 were(257.5±24.5) μg/mL and(164.8±20.6) μg/mL, respectively. The flow cytometric analysis showed that tioxolone and niosomal forms induced apoptosis of Leishmania tropica promastigotes in a dose-dependent manner. NT2 increased the expression level of IL-12 and metacaspase genes and decreased the expression level of the IL-10 ***: Niosomes of tioxolone play an immunomodulatory role in increasing Th1 cytokine profile and inhibiting the Th2 cytokine profile. It could be used for treatment of anthroponotic cutaneous leishmaniasis.

Perceived Barriers to Asthma Therapy in Ethno-Cultural Communities: The Role of Culture, Beliefs and Social Support

Background : Adherence to therapy is integral to successfully managing asthma, which requires comprehension of what, when, and how to use medication and diligence in following management plan. Asthma patients from ethnic minority groups have more morbidity and reported filling their prescriptions less often. Limited information is available in Canadian literature on ethnic differences in their perceptions of asthma management. We aimed to document patient perceived adherence to asthma therapy among targeted ethno-cultural groups. Methods : We evaluated perceived barriers to therapy adherence, including: cultural beliefs and practices, patient/care-provider communication, self-management knowledge, and medication costs. We conducted a cross sectional study and interviewed 85 Chinese or Punjabispeaking adult asthma patients. Results : Lack of sufficient instructions from physicians, language/communication barriers, lack of skills on how to use inhalers, and high medication costs and medication side effects were most reported barriers to proper self-management practices. Most participants lived with others in the same household and reported high social support from home caregivers. The influence of family on self-management practices was obvious. Conclusion: Better understanding of patient needs, provision of culturally and linguistically appropriate education, and inclusion of home caregivers into the management practices are necessary to improve asthma outcomes in Chinese and Punjabi communities.

Practical Guideline for Screening the Patients with SARS-CoV-2 Infection and Persian Gulf Criteria for Diagnosis of COVID-19

The new Coronavirus disease or COVID-19 is a contagious viral/immune-logical systemic disorder with predominantly respiratory features caused by human infection with SARS-CoV-2, which is rapidly spreading from person-to-person all around the world as a pandemic. The new outbreak of COVID-19 first appeared in Wuhan, China in December 2019. This virus is transmitted from human to human in various ways including air, aerosol, touching, and fecal-oral ways. The SARS-CoV-2 survives for several days in the environment. The SARS-CoV-2 virus multiplies within the cells of mouth-throat or nose-throat, and despite the production of antibodies by the human immune system, if the virus continues to multiply and progress, it will enter the bloodstream and reach its target organ, the lungs. It takes an incubation period of one to fourteen days for the initial symptoms/signs of disease to appear as fever, dry cough, and fatigue. Finally, shortness of breath due to pneumonia/pneumonitis with or without Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) causes the patient to be hospitalized and transferred to ICU. Older people with underlying disorders account for the majority of deaths from COVID-19, while children under the age of 15 - 20 are the main carriers of the SARS-CoV-2. About 40% of patients with COVID-19 are asymptomatic and, 40% mild, 15%;severe, and 5% are critical COVID-19. COVID-19 Molecular Diagnostic Tests and COVID-19 Antibody Tests are two types of diagnostic kit tests for identification of the SARS-CoV-2 and the High Resolution Computerised Tomography (HRCT) scanning of lungs is the best imaging method for detecting pneumonia/pneumonitis and assessing its severity. This paper is intended to present a health system called COVID-19 Referral System for screening and developing very sensitive diagnostic criteria as Persian Gulf Criteria for diagnosis of COVID-19. Effect of Compaction on Physical and Micromorphological Properties of Forest Soils

The objective of this research was to assess the effect of skidding machinery on soil physical and micromorphological properties. The different positions (control or non-traffic areas, left wheel track, right wheel track and log track) and two soil depths (0 - 10 and 10 - 20 cm) in three repetitions were investigated. The results showed that average soil dry bulk density in four positions and two soil depths were significantly different. Comparison of average total porosity percentage and soil saturated hydraulic conductivity revealed that there were significant differences in four positions and two soil depths. Soil thin section studies using Image Tool software showed that in compacted samples there was an increase in the number of vughs voids and channels voids were in low occurrence. Micromorphological studies showed that soil compaction caused void size to decrease. In compacted samples voids bigger than 10 μm were very rare and dominant voids size was 2 μm. In compacted samples soil structure were damaged and aggregates were compressed. Also soil matrix was compressed and microstructure was massive. Results from this study confirmed that skidding machinery had a significant effect on soil physical and morphological properties. These changes causes soil and environmental degradation due to reduction in water infiltration increasing soil erosion risk.

A Novel Approach for Finding a Shortest Path in a Mixed Fuzzy Network

We present a novel approach for computing a shortest path in a mixed fuzzy network, network having various fuzzy arc lengths. First, we develop a new technique for the addition of various fuzzy numbers in a path using -cuts. Then, we present a dynamic programming method for finding a shortest path in the network. For this, we apply a recently proposed distance function for comparison of fuzzy numbers. Four examples are worked out to illustrate the applicability of the proposed approach as compared to two other methods in the literature as well as demonstrate the novel feature offered by our algorithm to find a fuzzy shortest path in mixed fuzzy networks with various settings for the fuzzy arc lengths.
