Effects of Pulsation on Separated Flow and Heat Transfer in Enlarged Channel

Numerical results of three-dimensional separated flow and heat transfer in an enlarged rectangular channel are presented in this *** expansion ratio and aspect ratio of the channel are 2.0 and 16.0,*** number of the flow is 200 and it is over the critical Reynolds *** the critical Reynolds number,the flow in the symmetric channel becomes asymmetric and deflects to one side of the *** of the pulsating fluctuation at the inlet upon the flow in the channel are *** is clarified that the inlet flow with a pulsating fluctuation of Strouhal number 0.05 and 0.10 strongly affects on the flow in the channel,and heat transfer on the walls is enhanced,especially on the wall surface covered with long separation *** the other hand,the pulsation of St=0.0125 oscillates the shear layer more weakly than that of St=0.05,0.10 and the enhancement of heat transfer is smaller,though some vortices are shed from the vicinity of the side wall near the reattachment *** oscillation of the main flow calms down gradually as the Strouhal number of the pulsation increases over *** influence of pulsation of St=0.20 on the flow is restricted in the near downstream of the step,and heat transfer on the walls is almost similar to that of the steady flow in the channel.

The specific distribution characteristics of inclusions along with the sliver defect were analyzed in detail to explain the formation mechanism of the sliver defect on the automobile exposed panel surface.A quantitative electrolysis method was used to compare and evaluate the three-dimensional morphology,size,composition,quantity,and distribution of inclusions in the defect and non-defect zone of automobile exposed *** Al2O3 inclusions were observed to be aggregated or chain-like shape along with the sliver defect of about 3–10μ*** aggregation sections of the Al2O3 inclusions are distributed discretely along the rolling direction,with a spacing of 3–7 mm,a length of 6–7 mm,and a width of about 3 *** inclusion area part is 0.04%–0.16%with an average value of 0.08%,the inclusion number density is 40 mm−2 and the inclusion average spacing is 25.13μ*** inclusion spacing is approximately 40–160μm,with an average value of 68.76μm in chain-like inclusion *** average area fraction and number density of inclusions in the non-defect region were reduced to about 0.002%and 1–2 mm^−2,respectively,with the inclusion spacing of 400μm and the size of Al2O3 being 1–3μm.

Although a wide range of studies have addressed the relationship between estrogen receptor(ER) expression and prognosis in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC), that relationship remains controversial. This is in large part because there is no consensus on the rate of ER expression in NSCLC or on the intracellular distribution of ER expression. This suggests that establishing the relationship between ER expression and prognosis will require standardization of the antibodies used as well as the definition of a positive response. For example, it is supposed from previous studies that ERs in the cytoplasm and nucleus have different relationships to prognosis than ERs in the cytoplasm. Moreover, ER signaling in NSCLC is known to be affected by aromatase, progesterone receptor and epidermal growth factor receptor mutation. However, there has been little functional analysis these mutants and subtypes. This review will focus on what is known about the role of ERs in NSCLC and whether ER can be a useful prognostic marker or therapeutic target in NSCLC.

Numerical Study on Particle Motions in Swirling Flows in a Cyclone Separator

The purpose of this study is to establish the high-accurate prediction method of particle separation in a cyclone separator. Numerical simulation of the swirling flows in a cyclone separator is performed by using a large eddy simulation （LES） based on a Smagorinsky model. The validity of the simulation and the complicated flow characteristics are discussed by comparison with experimental results. Moreover, particle motions are treated by a Lagrangian method and are calculated with a one-way method. A performance for particle separation is predicted from the results of the particle tracing. As results of our investigation, the influences of the inserted height of the outlet pipe on the performance for particle separation of cyclone separator are shown.

In order to compare the difference between young and old intervertebral disc cells and theirresponsiveness to recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2),disc cells were isolatedfrom the anulus fibrosus (AF) and transition zones of lumbar discs from eight old and eight young NewZealand white *** with the ceils from the young rabbits,cells from old rabbits respond less torhBMP-2 treatment with respect to sulfated-glycosaminoglycan (sGAG) synthesis and aggrecan *** in collagen Ⅰ and collagen Ⅱ gene expressions,there are no significant differences betweenthe old and the *** comparing sGAG content,aggrecan,and collagen Ⅱ gene expression of the oldAF cells after rhBMP-2 treatment with that of the young AF cells without rhBMP-2 treatment,the old AFcells with rhBMP-2 treatment have a greater capacity to synthesize sGAG bound in the cells and to releasesGAG in the media,as well as to express aggrecan and collagen Ⅱ *** can be concluded that old AF cellsafter rhBMP-2 treatment have a greater capacity to synthesize sGAG and express aggrecan and collagen Ⅱ ascompared to young AF cells without rhBMP-2 *** rhBMP-2 can reverse the decline in theanabolic capacity of the disc cells with *** it seems that rhBMP-2 has potential for use as an agent toretard a key component of disc degeneration and loss of disc matrix.

This paper described the use of fy ash for soil amelioration of acidic soils to promote plant *** mining sites,acid sulfate soils/rocks,which contain sulfde minerals(*** FeS_(2)),have appeared as a result of overburden *** excessively acidic condition inhibits plant growth due to the dissolution of harmful elements,such as Al,Fe,and *** ash,an alkaline byproduct of coal combustion generated in thermal power plants is expected to be adopted to ameliorate acidic ***,the mixing ratio of fy ash must be considered because excessive addition of fy ash can have a negative impact on plant growth due to its physical/chemical *** pot trials using Acacia mangium demonstrate the evolution of plant growth with a 5%–10%addition of fy ash into acidic *** the acidic soil has a high potential for metal dissolution,the metal ions leached from the acidic soil are large,making it difcult to improve plant growth due to osmotic and ionic *** work suggests that the efects of fy ash on metal ions leached from the soil have to be considered for the amelioration of acidic soil.

We study properties of hadrons in the O（4） linear σ model, where we take into account fluctuations of mesons around their mean field values using the Gaussian functional （GF） method. In the GF method we calculate dressed σ and π masses, where we include the effect of fluctuations of mesons to find a better ground state wave function than the mean field approximation. Then we solve the Bethe-Salpeter equations and calculate physical σ and π masses. We recover the Nambu-Goldstone theorem for the physical pion mass to be zero in the chiral limit. The σ meson is a strongly correlated meson-meson state, and seems to have a two meson composite structure. We calculate σ and π masses as functions of temperature for both the chiral limit and explicit chiral symmetry breaking case. We get similar behaviors for the physical σ and π masses as the case of the mean field approximation, but the coupling constants are much larger than the values of the case of the mean field approximation.
