Sinus venosus defect(SVD) accounts for 4%–11% of all atrial septal defects(ASD) and may present with dyspnea, heart failure(HF), palpitations, or angina.^[1] The malformation typically involves an interatrial communication due to a deficiency in the common wall connecting the right pulmonary veins and the superior vena cava(SVC) and often accompanies anomalous pulmonary venous connection of some or all of the pulmonary veins.

Spinal cord injury results in the loss of sensory,motor,and autonomic functions,which almost always produces permanent physical ***,in the search for more effective treatments than those already applied for years,which are not entirely efficient,researches have been able to demonstrate the potential of biological strategies using biomaterials to tissue manufacturing through bioengineering and stem cell therapy as a neuroregenerative approach,seeking to promote neuronal recovery after spinal cord *** of these strategies has been developed and meticulously evaluated in several animal models with the aim of analyzing the potential of interventions for neuronal repair and,consequently,boosting functional *** the majority of experimental research has been conducted in rodents,there is increasing recognition of the importance,and need,of evaluating the safety and efficacy of these interventions in non-human primates before moving to clinical trials involving therapies potentially promising in *** article is a literature review from databases(PubMed,Science Direct,Elsevier,Scielo,Redalyc,Cochrane,and NCBI)from 10 years ago to date,using keywords(spinal cord injury,cell therapy,non-human primates,humans,and bioengineering in spinal cord injury).From 110 retrieved articles,after two selection rounds based on inclusion and exclusion criteria,21 articles were ***,this review arises from the need to recognize the experimental therapeutic advances applied in non-human primates and even humans,aimed at deepening these strategies and identifying the advantages and influence of the results on extrapolation for clinical applicability in humans.

The association of unrelated ant queens(pleometrosis)is supposed to improve nest foundation and competitiveness under environmental stress,but its evolutionary maintenance is difficult to explain because only one of the queens survives after nest *** aim was to test the potential effect of queen association as a social buffer,that is,as a mechanism reducing stress and improving fitness due to the benefits of social contact.I analyzed the survival,fecundity,and behavior of isolated and paired Lasius flavus queens exposed and not exposed to stressors(disturbing environmental conditions).I found no difference in survivorship between isolated and paired queens or between stressed and unstressed isolated *** in which 1 or 2 paired queens were stressed showed higher *** queens died similarly to their stressed nestmates,suggesting stress transmission.A trend suggested that paired queens produced eggs more quickly,but eggs were produced similarly between isolated and paired *** avoidance was observed in groups with 1 stressed and 1 unstressed ***,the groups with 2 stressed queens showed the expected behaviors according to social buffering:lower mobility and more interindividual *** findings suggest the synergistic effect of pleometrosis and stress and the dependence of stress level similarity between nestmates on social buffering or rejection on ant queens.

We present herein the implementation of pH-responsiveness into a new polycationic macrobicyclic structure,namely what we have termed the“red cage”.The hydrolytically-stable cryptand-like compound has been prepared in a relatively high yield in aqueous media by a kinetically-controlled hydrazone-exchange reaction,promoted by the unusual high stability of the new hydrazone CvN bonds *** organic media the macrobicycle was found not able to complex model aromatic *** buffered aqueous solutions,as a comparison,the“red cage”was found able to recognize them,but the binding was observed to be more efficient in acidic form of the cyclophane compared with its conjugate base.

Early experience can prepare offspring to adapt their behaviors to the environment they are likely to encounter later in life. In several species of ants, colonies show ontogenic changes in the brood-to-worker ratio that are known to have an impact on worker morphology. However, little information is available on the influence of fluctuations in the early social context on the expression of behavior in adulthood. Using the ant Lasius niger, we tested whether the brood-to-worker ratio during larval stages influenced the level of behavioral variability at adult stages. We raised batches of 20 or 180 larvae in the presence of 60 workers until adulthood. We then quantified the activity level and wall-following tendency of callow workers on 10 successive trials to test the prediction that larvae reared under a high brood-to-worker ratio should show greater behavioral variations. We found that manipulation of the brood-to-worker ratio influenced the duration of development and the size of individuals at emergence. We detected no influence of early social context on the level of between- or within-individual variation measured for individual activity level or on wall-following behavior. Our study suggests that behavioral traits may be more canalized than morphological traits.
