influence of Omega 3 Fatty Acid Supplementation on Phase Angle Values of People Living with HiV/AiDS with Lipodystrophy Secondary to Antiretroviral Therapy: A randomized Clinical Trial

Objective: The measurement of phase angles is an important monitoring parameter and supplementation with omega-3 could promote benefits by modulating the electrical potential of membranes and increasing body cell mass. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation on the phase angle of people living with HiV/AiDS. Methods: in this study, 63 individuals of all genders who were undergoing outpatient follow-up and showed lipodystrophy due to highly active antiretroviral therapy were analyzed. Our sample consisted of two groups, one that received supplementation containing 2550 mg of omega-3/day (1080 mg of eicosapentaenoic acid and 720 mg of docosahexaenoic acid) for three months (n = 32) and another that underwent nutrition guidance (n = 31). Phase angle and body cell mass were assessed for both groups and compared at the beginning of research (T0) and after our intervention (T1) for each group separately. results: Phase angle averaged 6.45° ± 1.06 SD. The comparison between T0 and T1 showed a significant increase in phase angle and body cell mass, whereas the guidance group showed a decrease in body cell mass at T1 in relation to T0, with a significant p-value. Variance in phase angle between moments showed significant values between T0 and T1 in the supplementation group for all genders. Conclusion: Omega-3 positively modulated patients phase angle and body cell mass, but we emphasize the need for other studies that can solidify knowledge about supplementation dosage and intervention time.

The Archean Eon was a time of geodynamic *** evidence of these transitions come from igneous/metaigneous rocks,which dominate cratonic segments *** data for granitoids from an Archean basement inlier related to the Southern S?o Francisco Craton(SSFC),are integrated with geochronological,isotopic and geochemical data on Archean granitoids from the *** rocks are divided into three main geochemical groups with different ages:(1)TTG(3.02–2.77 Ga);(2)mediumto high-K granitoids(2.85–2.72 Ga);and(3)A-type granites(2.7–2.6 Ga).The juvenile to chondritic(Hf-Nd isotopes)TTG were divided into two sub-groups,TTG 1(low-HrEE)and 2(high-HrEE),derived from partial melting of metamafic rocks similar to those from adjacent greenstone *** compositional diversity within the TTG is attributed to different pressures during partial melting,supported by a positive correlation of Dy/Yb and Sr/Zr,and batch melting *** proposed TTG sources are geochemically similar to basaltic rocks from modern island-arcs,indicating the presence of subduction processes concomitant with TTG ***~2.85 Ga to 2.70 Ga,the dominant rocks were K-rich *** are modeled as crustal melts of TTG,during regional metamorphism indicative of crustal *** compositional diversity is linked to:(i)differences in source composition;(ii)distinct melt fractions during partial melting;and(iii)different residual mineralogies reflecting varying P–T ***-collisional(~2.7–2.6 Ga)A-type granites reflect rifting in that they were closely followed by extension-related dyke swarms,and they are interpreted as differentiation or partial melting products of magmas derived from subduction-modified *** sequence of granitoid emplacement indicates subduction-related magmatism was followed by crustal thickening,regional metamorphism and crustal melting,and post-collisional extension,similar to that seen in younger Wilson *** is compelling evide

Stereopsis, Aniseikonia, and Associated Symptoms in Patients with Bilateral Pseudophakia with and without Anisometropia: A Comparative Study

Objectives: The study aimed to compare stereopsis, aniseikonia, and associated symptoms in bilateral pseudophakia with and without anisometropia. Methods: Patients with senile cataracts, previously scheduled for phacoemulsification with an iOL implant in both eyes were included in this cross-sectional study. Patients were divided into two groups: control group (n = 69) with an interocular post-surgical refraction difference in Spherical Equivalent (SE) ?;Stereotest. Ten symptoms related to aniseikonia were evaluated with a questionnaire. Statistical evaluation of data included models of univariate, multivariate, and regression analyses. results: Cataract surgery-induced aniseikonia was 0.64% ± 1.41% in control group and 0.62% ± 1.76% in anisometropia group with an insignificant difference (p = 0.766). Measured stereoacuity was 1.95 ± 0.17 log10 seconds of arc in the control group and 2.12 ± 0.22 log10 seconds of arc in the anisometropia group with a significant difference (p Conclusions: The study showed that stereopsis, aniseikonia, and associated symptoms did not stand for a substantial problem for visual comfort of bilateral pseu- dophakia with anisometropia less than 3D.

Testing the Use of Coconut Fiber as a Cushioning Material for Transport Packaging

in spite of being a raw material of virtually unlimited availability due to the massive consumption of the highly popular coconut water, fiber produced from green coconut is much less used than the dried coconut fiber. The objective of this study was to investigate the performance of green (white) coconut fiber as a cushioning material for use in packaging systems. The mechanical performance of both green coconut fibers in their natural state as well as those molded into the shape of cushioning pads were evaluated by shock absorption tests. The results showed that the fibers without agglutination agents exhibited the best performance when submitted to increasing static loads by presenting the greatest capacity to reduce impact acceleration. in addition, green coconut fiber presented behavior similar to that of cellulosic cushioning materials and in certain situations can be considered effective in protecting products that are considered fragile.

Growth and Production of Crambe Submitted to Doses of Nitrogen and Potassium

The dependence on non-renewable fuels of countries around the world increased the interest for the gradual replacement of fossil fuels with renewable ones. Thus, several development programs for the use of renewable sources for power generation have been created and, in this perspective, biofuels have been highlighted. Crambe is an alternative crop for the production of biodiesel due to its rusticity, precocity, high oil content and adaptability to different climates. Optimum management practices of fertilizer use in crambe cultivation are little known and there are no specific recommendations for its fertilization. Therefore, the objective of this research was to study the effects of mineral fertilizers concerning the nitrogen and potassium elements in the growth and production of crambe. The experiment was installed in a greenhouse, with a completely randomized design. Nitrogen doses used were 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg·ha-1and 50, 75, 100 to 125 kg·ha-1 for potassium. The increase in production was directly proportional to the increase in nitrogen levels. The potassium doses did not cause significant effect on the growth of crambe.

The effects of fertilization on crambe are poorly understood;in this sense, this study aimed to evaluate the crambe growth under different levels of nitrogen (0, 40, 80, 120 kg·ha-1), phosphorus (0, 50, 100, 150 kg·ha-1), and potassium (0, 30, 60, 90 kg·ha-1) in a greenhouse. The height of the plants, the production of dried biomass and that of 1000 grains of crambe were evaluated. The height of the plants was impaired as a function of increasing doses of nitrogen. The interaction of nitrogen and phosphorus in the crambe crop increased the number of grains and dry shoot biomass. The growth and yield of the crop were not influenced by the use of potassium in mineral fertilization.

Nursing Diagnoses of the Domain Safety/Protection and Socioeconomic and Clinical Aspects of Critical Patients

Objective: The objective is to correlate the nursing diagnoses of the domain Safety/Protection of NANDA-i in critically ill patients with sociodemographic and clinical data. Method: A cross-sectional study with 86 individuals was conducted, from October 2013 to May 2014 in the intensive Care Unit of a university hospital in northeastern Brazil, through a formal interview and physical examination. results: it was possible to identify a total of 20 significant statistical associations, and 15 were clinically justified by the literature, namely: risk for aspiration and reason for admission;impaired dentition and age;risk for peripheral neurovascular dysfunction and sex and comorbidity;skin integrity and comorbidity;risk for impaired skin integrity and gender and reason for admission;impaired tissue integrity and gender and reason for admission;risk for perioperative positioning injury and reason for admission;risk for thermal injury and age and comorbidity;delayed surgical recovery and reason for admission;risk for poisoning and years of schooling;and risk for imbalanced body temperature and age. Conclusions: By understanding the relationship between customers’ answers and the sociodemographic and clinical profile, positive health outcomes can be achieved in particular in the prevention of risks facing vulnerability characteristics, providing greater safety and protection for the critical customer.

Effect of Copper, Zinc, Cadmium and Chromium in the Growth of Crambe

Crambe is a promising crop for biodiesel production. However, there is no much information available about techniques and research regarding the best performance in different regions to explore its potential. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of cadmium, chromium, copper and zinc in the development of crambe. The study was carried out in a greenhouse and it consisted of four independent experiments in completely randomized design, with three replications. Four metals with five levels were applied: 0, 10, 15, 20 and 25 mg·kg-1 for copper, cadmium, chromium;and 0, 20, 30, 40 and 50 mg·kg-1 for zinc, in order to evaluate the growth of crambe. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and comparison of means by Tukey test at 1 and 5% significance. Despite doses of cadmium, chromium, copper and zinc in growing crambe have influenced in some of the evaluated variables of the plants, in general, their development was similar in relation to doses and the metals applied. The importance of cultivating crambe is related to grain production, based on this, copper and cadmium decreased this production.

Difficulties Faced by Physicians in the Diagnosis of Endometriosis in the Brazilian Public Health System

Endometriosis is a clinical and recurrent condition characterized by the presence of functional endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity and myometrium. it is estimated that 6% to 10% of women of reproductive age, 50% to 60% of adolescents and adults with pelvic pain, and up to 50% of women with infertility are pregnant from the condition. However, this proportion tends to be even greater due to the difficulty in diagnosing it: because it presents different symptoms, lack of information from health professionals, and a high-cost diagnostic test. Another aggravating factor is the average time from the onset of symptoms to the medical diagnosis, which even today ranges from five to ten years;this delay has consequences for disease progression, as it prevents early treatment, which is important for improving pain levels and physical and psychological well-being. Aware of these mishaps, it is therefore important to assess the difficulties faced by doctors in the diagnosis of endometriosis in the public health system, in Brazil, the Unified Health System (SUS). With this purpose, a cross sectional was carried out, developed in the virtual environment using traffic in Google forms, with the difficulties quantified in the Likert scale. Participating physicians pointed out a medium difficulty for patients with endometriosis to access the consultation (58%) and moderate difficulty (52%) to perform an ultrasound examination;also signaled great difficulty in performing magnetic resonance imaging (77%) and laparotomy (61%) in these patients. it is hoped that knowledge about the difficulties faced by physicians in the diagnosis of endometriosis in the SUS will give these physicians a voice and corroborate, even if minimally, so that there is more research that provokes the search for these difficulties, in order to improving the quality of life of these women.

regulation of respiratory and Ligninolytic Enzyme Activity of Lentinula edodes by Selenium

The production of mushrooms enriched with essential elements, e.g. selenium, for human health is an interesting strategy to improve the functional foods supply. The selenium is an essential mineral and makes part of structure of enzymes involved in the oxidative metabolism. However, the selenium effect on the activity of respiratory and lignocellulolytic enzymes has not been considered. The understanding of this effect is important to determine the selenium concentration that increases the mushroom productivity and the degradation rate of the substrate. in this study, it was observed reduction of the respiratory activity of Lentinula edodes (Berk.) Pegler, the shiitake mushroom, in function of the increasing of the sodium selenite concentration in the substrate (p ium did not inhibit the activity of the hydrolytic enzymes (cellulase and xylanase), but it increased the activity of the oxidative enzyme (laccase). respiratory activity of L. edodes has a negative correlation with sodium selenite concentration added in substrate. Thus is important to define the ideal dose of selenium to be added to the substrate for increasing lignocellulosic residues degradation and, consequently, guarantee a higher production of Se-enriched mushrooms.
