Analysis of 12 variants in the development of gastric and colorectal cancers

AiM To evaluate the relation between 12 polymorphisms and the development of gastric cancer(gC) and colorectal cancer(CrC).METHODS in this study,we included 125 individuals with gC diagnosis,66 individuals with CrC diagnosis and 475 cancer-free individuals. All participants resided in the North region of Brazil and authorized the use of their samples. The 12 polymorphisms(in CASP8,CYP2 E1,CYP19 A1,iL1 A,iL4,MDM2,NFKB1,PAr1,TP53,TYMS,UgT1 A1 and XrCC1 genes) were genotyped in a single PCr for each individual,followed by fragment analysis. To avoid misinterpretation due to population substructure,we applied a previously developed set of 61 ancestryinformative markers that can also be genotyped by multiplex PCr. The statistical analyses were performed in Structure v.2.3.4,r environment and SPSS *** After statistical analyses with the control of confounding factors,such as genetic ancestry,three markers(rs79071878 in iL4,rs3730485 in MDM2 and rs28362491 in NFKB1) were positively associated with the development of gC. One of these markers(rs28362491) and the marker in the UgT1 A1 gene(rs8175347) were positively associated with the development of CrC. Therefore,we investigated whether the joint presence of the deleterious alleles of each marker could affect the development of cancer and we obtained positive results in all analyses. Carriers of the combination of alleles rP1 + DEL(rs79071878 and rs28361491,respectively) are at 10-times greater risk of developing gC than carriers of other combinations. Similarly,carriers of the combination of DEL + rArE(rs283628 and rs8175347) are at about 12-times greater risk of developing CrC than carriers of other *** These findings are important for the comprehension of gastric and CrC development,particularly in highly admixed populations,such as the Brazilian population.

Objective:To determine the profdes of anti-Entamoeba histolytica(***) ***. and igM in sera of diarrheic and non-diarrheic individuals and partially characterize target ***:Serum samples from thirty diarrheic and thirty non-diarrheic individuals were subjected to igA,igg,and igM profiling through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (***),flow cytometry,and ***:ELBA titer results showed that both diarrheic and non-diarrheic individuals possess high levels of ***-specific igg compared to igA and *** cytometry data showed that diarrheic serum samples had higher mean reaction percentages against *** cells compared to non-diarrheic *** *** proteins with molecular weights ranging belween 7 kDa and 292 kDa were recognized by diarrheic serum igg,and 170 kDa and 250 kDa by non-diarrheic serum igg. Conclusions:Our findings suggest that serum *** igg,compared with serum *** igA and igM responses,was generally high in both diarrheic and nondiarrheic sera,indicating a past exposure to the organism both in symptomatic patients as well as in asymptomatic carriers,*** addition,serum igg from diarrheic and non-diarrheic patients were able to detect immunogenic *** proteins.

The Piper hispidinervium leaves and thin stems were dried under laboratory and field *** drying was performed using a shade dryer operating with and without forced convection and an oven dryer operating at 30 and 40*** experiments were conducted using solar dryers with three different covers,i.e.,transparent,black plastic,and palm straw *** essential oil extraction was performed by steam distillation,and the safrole content was analyzed by gas *** mathematical models(Page,logarithmic,Henderson and Pabis,fractional,and diffusion)were fitted with the experimental data and compared based on the coefficient of determination(r2),root mean square error(rMSE)and *** suggest that the best model was the logarithmic model(r2>0.99,rMSEith sufficient drying,the safrole content increased up to 95%of the extracted oil;however,when the drying time was prolonged,both the oil yield and safrole content of the extracted oil decreased.

The conditions used for friction stir welding of duplex stainless steels determine the resulting mechanical and corrosion performance of the *** study investigates the corrosion resistance of UNS S32750 and S32760 superduplex stainless steels(SDSSs)joined by friction stir welding,employing cyclic polarization,Mott–Schottky,and microscopy techniques for *** microscopy images indicated the presence of a deleterious intermetallic phase after electrolytic etching of S32760,as well as decreased corrosion *** presence of molybdenum in the steels promoted better passive behavior at low *** Mott–Schottky curves revealed p-n heterojunction behavior of the passive *** acquired after the polarization test by scanning electron microscopy showed higher passivation propensity with increases of temperature and pH.

The discovery of two-dimensional(2D)magnetic van der Waals(vdW)materials has flourished an endeavor for fundamental problems as well as potential applications in computing,sensing and storage *** particular interest are antiferromagnets,which due to their intrinsic exchange coupling show several advantages in relation to ferromagnets such as robustness against external magnetic *** we show that,despite of this cornerstone,the magnetic domains of recently discovered 2D vdW MnPS_(3)antiferromagnet can be controlled via magnetic fields and electric *** achieve ultrafast domain-wall dynamics with velocities up to~3000 m s^(−1)within a relativistic *** contraction and emission of spin-waves in the terahertz gap are observed with dependence on the edge termination of the *** results indicate that the implementation of 2D antiferromagnets in real applications can be further controlled through edge engineering which sets functional characteristics for ultrathin device platforms with relativistic features.

A polymeric natural fiber-reinforced composite is developed by extrusion and injection molding process. The shrinkage and warpage of high-density polyethylene reinforced with short natural fibers of guadua angustifolia Kunth are analyzed by experimental measure- ments and computer simulations. Autodesk Moldflow and Solid Works are employed to simulate both volumetric shrinkage and warpage of injected parts at different configurations： 0wt.%, 20wt.%, 30wt.% and 40 wt.% reinforcing on shrinkage and warpage behavior of polymer composite. Become evident the restrictive effect of reinforcing on the volumetric shrinkage and warpage of injected parts. The results indicate that volumetric shrinkage of natural composite is reduced up to 58% with fiber increasing, whereas the warpage shows a reduction form 79% to 86% with major fiber content. These results suggest that it is a highly beneficial use of natural fibers to improve the assembly properties of polymeric natural fiber-reinforced composites.

if left unmodeled,the delay suffered by electromagnetic waves while crossing the neutral atmosphere negatively affects global Navigation Satellite System *** modeling of the delay has been carried out by means of empirical models formulated based on climatological information or using information extracted from numerical weather prediction(NWP)*** paper explores the potential use of meteorological information of several types that will become available with the increasing number of sensors(e.g.a cell phone,or the thermometer of a nearby smart home)in *** can we make use of these potentially huge datasets,which may help to provide the best possible representation of the neutral atmosphere at any given time,as readily and as accurately as possible?This situation falls in the realm of Big Data.A few potential scenarios,a sequential improvement of Marini mapping function coefficients,a self-feeding NWP,and near real-time empirical model updates,are discussed in this *** pros and cons of each approach are discussed in comparison with what is done *** indicate that they have potential for a positive contribution.
