Permo–Triassic and Liassic Tethyan Oceanic Tracts within the Pontide Belt Along the Southern Margin of Eurasia, Northern Anatolia

The Pontide belt in northern Turkey includes three major tectonic terranes,the Strandja Massif（Sj M）,and the istanbul（iSZ）and Sakarya Zones（SZ）(Fig.1).We present new age and geochemical data from ophiolites and ophiolitic mélanges within the Sakarya Zone and show that these mafic–ultramafic rocks are the remnants of Tethyan oceanic lithosphere formed in different tectonic *** main ophiolite occurrences investigated in this study along the Karakaya Suture（KS）are associated with the latest Triassic Cimmeride orogeny,and in the Küre–Yusufeli ophiolite belt are part of the Alpide *** Karakaya Suture Zone ophiolites in northern west Turkey are comprised mainly of the Denizgoren（?anakkale）ophiolite,Bo?azk?y（Bursa）,Geyve（Sakarya）,Almac?k（Düzce）and?ele（Bolu）*** Denizg?ren ophiolite largely contains upper mantle peridotites,which are equivalents of the Permo–Triassic Lesvos peridotites and mélange units farther SW in the northern Aegean *** Bo?azk?y ophiolite includes serpentinite and metagabbro,and the Almac?k and Geyve ophiolites display an almost complete Penrose–type sequence consisting of serpentinizeduppermantleperidotites,cumulate ultramafic–mafic rocks,isotropic gabbros,dolerite and plagiogranite dikes,and extrusive rocks.U–Pb zircon dating of plagiogranite dikes from?ele has revealed an igneous age of 260 Ma,and 255,235,227 Ma from Almac?k（Bozkurt et al.,2012a,b）.Consistent with the previouslypublished Permo–Triassic age,we obtained a 268.4±6.3 Ma U–Pb zircon age from a plagiogranite dike within the Almacik ophiolite to the *** KS ophiolite belt containing the?ele,Almac?k,Geyve ophiolites within the SZ extends westward into the Armutlu Peninsula and then into the Biga Peninsula（***?ren ophiolite）and most likely connects with the remnants of the Triassic Meliata–Meliac ocean basin（Stampfli and Borel,2002）in the Balkan *** KS ophiolites also continue eastward within the Pontide Belt into the Elekda?ophiolite（e

Arctic sea-ice extent: No record minimum in 2023 or recent years

Arctic sea-ice extent reaches its minimum each year in September. On 11 September 2023 the minimum was 4.969 million square kilometers(***^(2)). This was not a record low, which occurred in 2012, when the minimum was 4.175 ***^(2), 0.794 ***^(2) less than the minimum in 2023. However, the ice extent had decreased by 0.432 ***^(2) compared with 2022. Nevertheless, the summer melting in 2023 was remarkably less than expected when considering the strong heat waves in the atmosphere and ocean, with record temperatures set around the world. in general, there is a high correlation between the long-term decrease in sea-ice extent and the increasing CO_(2) in the atmosphere, where the increase of CO_(2) in recent decades explains about 80% of the decrease in sea ice in September, while the remainder is caused by natural variability.

Real-time condition monitoring and fault diagnosis in switched reluctance motors with Kohonen neural network

The faults in switched reluctance motors(SRMs) were detected and diagnosed in real time with the Kohonen neural network. When a fault happens, both financial losses and undesired situations may occur. For these reasons, it is important to detect the incipient faults of SRMs and to diagnose which faults have occurred. in this study, a test rig was realized to determine the healthy and faulty conditions of SRMs. A data set for the Kohonen neural network was created with implemented measurements. A graphical user interface(GUi) was created in Matlab to test the performance of the Kohonen artificial neural network in real time. The data of the SRM was transferred to this software with a data acquisition card. The condition of the motor was monitored by marking the data measured in real time on the weight position graph of the Kohonen neural network. This test rig is capable of real-time monitoring of the condition of SRMs, which are used with intermittent or continuous operation, and is capable of detecting and diagnosing the faults that may occur in the motor. The Kohonen neural network used for detection and diagnosis of faults of the SRM in real time with Matlab GUi was embedded in an STM32 processor. A prototype with the STM32 processor was developed to detect and diagnose the faults of SRMs independent of computers.

What Caused the inconsistency between Rb-Sr and^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar Ages of Authigenic illites?

Radiogenic isotope dating of illitic clays has been widely used to reconstruct thermal and fluid flow events in siliciclastic sedimentary basins,the information of which is critical to investigate mechanisms of hydrocarbon *** study carried out Rb-Sr and^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar dating of authigenic illitic clay samples separated from the Palaeogene sandstone in the northern South China *** Rb-Sr data further confirm the previously reported three periods of fluid flow events(at 34.5±0.9,31.2±0.6,and 23.6±0.8 Ma,respectively)in the northern South China Sea,which are related to regional episodic ***,^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar ages of illite obtained in this study are significantly younger than the corresponding Rb-Sr *** significantly younger^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar ages were probably due to ^(40)Ar loss caused by later dry heating events on the Hainan island that have not affected the Rb-Sr isotopic *** inconsistency between Rb-Sr and^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar data should be attributed to different isotopic behaviors of K-Ar and Rb-Sr isotopic systematics in *** results indicate that Rb-Sr isotopic dating method may be a preferential approach for clay dating in geological settings where exist younger dry heating events.

Co-doping of hydroxyapatite with zinc and fluoride improves mechanical and biological properties of hydroxyapatite

Hydroxyapatite(HA) co-doped with Zn2+ tand F- ions was synthesized by precipitation method for the first time in this *** spectroscopy revealed Zn2+ tand F ions incorporation into HA ***-doping of Zn2+ tand F- ions decreased unit cell volume of HA and decreased grain ***2+ tor 5 mol% F addition into HA significantly improved its *** was increased with Zn2+ taddition and further increase was detected with F ***2+ tand F co-doped samples had higher fracture toughness than pure ***2+ tincorporation to the structure resulted in an increase in cell proliferation and ALP activity of cells,and further increase was observed with 1 mol%F *** superior mechanical properties and biological response 2Zn1 F is a good candidate for biomedical applications.

Understanding the neural underpinning of human gait and balance is one of the most pertinent challenges for 21st-century translational neuroscience due to the profound impact that falls and mobility disturbances have on our aging *** and gait control does not happen automatically,as previously believed,but rather requires continuous involvement of central nervous *** effectively exert control over the body,the brain must integrate multiple streams of sensory information,including visual,vestibular,and somatosensory *** mechanisms which underpin the integration of these multisensory signals are the principal topic of the present *** multisensory integration theories focus on how failure of cognitive processes thought to be involved in multisensory integration leads to falls in older *** emphasis,however,has been placed on specific contributions of individual sensory modalities to multisensory integration processes and cross-modal interactions that occur between the sensory modalities in relation to gait and *** the present work,we review the contributions of somatosensory,visual,and vestibular modalities,along with their multisensory intersections to gait and balance in older adults and patients with Parkinson’s *** also review evidence of vestibular contributions to multisensory temporal binding windows,previously shown to be highly pertinent to fall risk in older ***,we relate multisensory vestibular mechanisms to potential neural substrates,both at the level of neurobiology(concerning positron emission tomography imaging)and at the level of electrophysiology(concerning electroencephalography).We hope that this integrative review,drawing influence across multiple subdisciplines of neuroscience,paves the way for novel research directions and therapeutic neuromodulatory approaches,to improve the lives of older adults and patients with neurodegenerative diseases.

Prognostic impact of inflammatory and nutritional biomarkers in pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic cancer is usually associated with a poor *** is the main curative treatment but pancreatic operations are aggressive and new tools that help clinicians to predict surgical and prognostic outcomes are *** et al recently published a retrospective,single centre cohort study evaluating the impact of seven nutritional and inflammatory markers in pancreatic cancer surgical patients:The albumin-to-globulin ratio,prognostic nutritional index(PNi),systemic immune-inflammation index(Sii),neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR),platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR),nutritional risk index,and the geriatric nutritional risk index.A significant correlation was found between the PNi,Sii,NLR,and PLR and a hospital discharge of less than 15 *** a univariable analysis,PNi,Sii,NLR and PLR were significantly related to recurrence-free survival and,in a multivariable analysis PNi was associated with overall *** meta-analyses corroborate the results in terms of prognosis but individual studies are discordant on their ***,the cut-off values for these markers vary significantly between studies and there are no clinical trials comparing them to identify the most relevant *** are limitations when implementing nutritional and inflammatory biomarkers into clinical practice and further studies are needed in order to answer these questions.

Pistacia terebinthus,Anacardiaceae,is used in traditional medicine and its fruits are consumed as coffee in ***,the research on the chemical and biological activity of *** leaves is almost *** the present study,we aimed to evaluate the comprehensive antioxidant capacity(DPPH,ABTS,reducing power and metal chelating activity)and enzyme inhibitory effects(against AChE,BChE,α-amylase,α-glucosidase,and tyrosinase)as well as phytochemical content of the leaves extracts from *** phytochemical composition in extracts were analysed using *** phenolics and flavonoids contents of the extracts were 65.51-210.54 mg GAE/g and 54.94-169.89 mg RE/g,*** highest level of total phenolic content was found in the methanol extract while the maximum total flavonoid content observed in ethyl acetate *** antioxidant results showed that methanol extract(ABTS:3.29 mmol TE/g,DPPH:2.06 mmol TE/g,CUPRAC:2.67 mmol TE/g,FRAP:1.62 mmol TE/g,Metal chelating activity:65.65 mg EDTA/g)exhibited promising antioxidant *** methanol extract also demonstrated important enzyme inhibitory *** results suggest that the extracts of *** leaves has the potential to be used as good candidate of natural antioxidants and enzyme inhibitors.

Horizontal transmission of hepatitis B virus in children with chronic hepatitis B

AiM: To determine the possible routes of intrafamilial transmission pattern in pediatrie cases of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. METHODS: in this descriptive retrospective study, 302 children with chronic HBV infection from 251 families and their parents attending the Social Security Children's Hospital and Doctor Sami Ulus Children's Hopsital in Ankara between December 1998 and May 2000, were enrolled in. Screenings and diagnosis of chronic HBV infections were established according to the Consensus 2000. RESULTS: in the studied 302 children with chronic HBV infection, mothers of 38% and fathers of 23% were HBsAg positive. The HBsAg positivity in at least two siblings of the same family was 61% when both parents were HBsAg positive. CONCLUSiON: it is well known that hon'zontal transmission is quite common in countries where Hepatitis B Virus is moderately endemic. To our best knowledge, this is the largest series observed regarding the horizontal transmission in pediatrie chronic HBV infection in Turkey. it is necessary to expand the preventive programs to target not only the newborn period but also all stages of childhood.
