With an analysis on Golden Bough Theater＇s Troy, Troy... Taiwan, this article will investigate how they de-contextualize Greek Epic iliad with an eclectic collage of the tropes of Greek epic, the techniques of environmental theater and Taiwan Residents local opera, and the aesthetics of Taiwan Residents indigenous rituals and Pili Puppetry. it will discuss how the performers transform Greek epic into a Taiwan Residents allegory in search of Taiwan Residents cultural roots and identities. Furthermore, in the cultural encounter between the East and the West, multiple folds of significance will be explored through their hybridized performance genres and rituals as well as symbolic interaction in various performance venues with different historical and cultural legacies.

Jingju actor and director Wu Hsing-kuo＇s （吴兴国） Lear is Here （2001） is a 90-minute solo performance adapted from shakespeare＇s King Lear and performed injingju style. in this performance, he alternately performs 10 male and female characters including himself injingju role types ofsheng （male）, dan （female）,jing （painted face）, mo, and chou （clown） in search 0f dual identities. This paper will investigate Wu＇s performance in Lear is Here from three directions： First, how Wu subtly combines shakespearean dramatic tension and psychological complex, his versatilejingju performing styles, and Brechtian alienation effect in developing his unique artistic flair？ What are at stake of such an eclectic performance？ second, in the rooting and re-routing of both shakespearean plays andjingju acting style where Wu Hsing-kuo meets King Lear, how Wu articulates the meticulous details of both source culture and target culture while at once extracting them out of context to interweave and re-articulate them into an eclectic intercultural theater？ Third, investigating the cultural exchange, bicroleurs, audience reception, and production mode of the work, the author will try to do away with the ＂authenticity＂ or ＂representativeness＂ of either the East or the West, but explore the possibilities of the hybrid theater in search of alternative aesthetic and emerging performance genre

This work reports a three-dimensional polymer interdigitated pillar electrostatic actuator that can produce force densities 5-10×higher than those of biological *** theory of operation,scaling,and stability is investigated using analytical and FEM *** actuator consists of two high-density arrays of interdigitated pillars that work against a restoring force generated by an integrated flexure *** actuator architecture enables linear actuation with higher displacements and pull-in free actuation to prevent the in-use stiction associated with other electrostatic *** pillars and springs are 3D printed together in the same *** pillars are coated with a gold-palladium alloy layer to form conductive *** space between the pillars is filled with liquid dielectrics for higher breakdown voltages and larger electrostatic forces due to the increase in the dielectric *** demonstrated a prototype actuator that produced a maximum work density of 54.6μJ/cc and an electrical-tomechanical energy coupling factor of 32%when actuated at 4000 *** device was operated for more than 100,000 cycles with no degradation in *** flexible polymer body was robust,allowing the actuator to operate even after high mechanical force impact,which was demonstrated by operation after drop *** it is scaled further,the reported actuator will enable soft and flexible muscle-like actuators that can be stacked in series and parallel to scale the resulting *** work paves the way for high-energy density actuators for microrobotic applications.

The Annona genus is a member of Annonaceae,one of the largest families of plants across tropical and subtropical *** family has been used in several ethnomedicinal practices to treat a multitude of human ***,the molecular mechanism underlying its effect on the lipid droplet formation and on the expression of adipogenic markers of this plant remain to be *** this study,we examined whether the extracts from the aerial part of Annona montana affect in vitro differentiation of *** our investigations,both mouse embryo fibroblast 3T3-L1 and normal human primary subcutaneous preadipocytes were incubated with Annona montana extracts(-and its subfractions-)and then analyzed on preadipocyte differentiation,lipid content,lipid droplet size and number,the expression of adipogenic-specific transcriptional factors,as well as cell *** our examinations,we found the Annona montana ethyl acetate extract to exhibit a potent inhibitory effect on adipogenesis,without affecting cell survival,in a dose-dependent *** inhibitory effects included a significant decrease in the accumulation of lipid content by both a dramatic reduction of size and number of lipid *** extract strongly attenuated the expression of PPARγand *** also inhibited the expression of CEBPα,FAs,and Akt without influencing Erk1/2 *** findings suggest that specifically,the Annona montana ethyl acetate extract has a prominent inhibitory effect in cellular pathways of adipocyte differentiation by modulating specific gene expression,which is known to perform a pivotal role during adipogenesis.

The present study was conducted with the objective of further developing the cholinergic hypothesis and not using the prevalent amyloid beta plaque hypothesis or the tau protein hypothesis on dementia. The experiment was conducted on mice using anticholinergic drugs scopolamine and biperiden to investigate the root cause of dementia. First, we measured the mice serum for liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-Ms/Ms) after administration of scopolamine and biperiden and found an accumulation of anticholinergic drugs metabolites in the body. The Y-maze test and measurement of LC-Ms/Ms in the cranial skeletal muscle cells showed that the scopolamine metabolites have a significant effect on the cranial skeletal muscles, leading to the conclusion that Methocarbamol is an effective treatment for dementia.
