The AHi-FSA(Advanced Himawari imager-Fire Surveillance Algorithm)is a recently developed algorithm designed to support wildfire surveillance and mapping using the geostationary Himawari-8 *** present,the AHi-FSA algorithm has only been tested on a number of case study fires in Western *** results demonstrate potential as a wildfire surveillance algorithm providing high frequency(every 10 minutes),multi-resolution fire-line *** paper intercompares AHi-FSA across the Northern Territory of Australia(1.4 million km2)over a ten-day period with the well-established fire products from LEO(Low Earth Orbiting)satellites:MODiS(Moderate Resolution imaging Spectroradiometer)and ViiRS(Visible infrared imaging Radiometer Suite).This paper also discusses the difficulties and solutions when comparing high temporal frequency fire products with existing low temporal resolution LEO satellite *** results indicate that the multi-resolution approach developed for AHi-FSA is successful in mapping fire activity at 500 *** compared to the MODiS,daily AHiFSA omission error was only 7%.High temporal frequency data also results in AHi-FSA observing fires,at times,three hours before the MODiS overpass with much-enhanced detail on fire movement.

Objective:To identify worms obtained from patients with eye lesions and to describe the demographic factors of patients with ocular ***:A retrospective descriptive study was conducted in 31 worm samples from 30 patients referred by consultant ophthalmologists between 2006 and February *** on age,sex and site of the lesion were ascertained from the details given in the referral *** identification of the worm was based on the maximum width,length and appearance of the *** sex of the worm was determined by the width,length and presence or absence of vulva *** was performed using Dirofilaria repens specific primers to confirm the species of worms which could not be identified ***:Most of the patients belonged to the age group of 40-49 years(mean age = 42 years).Majority of them were females(70%).Subconjunctival lesions were the most frequent presentation,while the rest(n = 4) were found on *** worms were extracted from 18 cases,and 11 had male *** individual had both male and female worms in a single *** were the most commonly *** pattern was different from the previous studies in Sri Lanka where the most common age group affected was younger than 9 years ***:The present study showed a considerably high incidence of ocular dirofilariasis,stressing the importance of implementing preventive measures to reduce the transmission of this zoonotic filarial disease.

Background:Weather variables affect dengue *** study aimed to identify a dengue weather correlation pattern in Kandy,Sri Lanka,compare the results with results of similar studies,and establish ways for better control and prevention of ***:We collected data on reported dengue cases in Kandy and mid-year population data from 2003 to 2012,and calculated weekly *** obtained daily weather data from two weather stations and converted it into weekly *** studied correlation patterns between dengue incidence and weather variables using the wavelet time series analysis,and then calculated cross-correlation coefficients to find magnitudes of ***:We found a positive correlation between dengue incidence and rainfall in millimeters,the number of rainy and wet days,the minimum temperature,and the night and daytime,as well as average,humidity,mostly with a five-to seven-week ***,we found correlations between dengue incidence and maximum and average temperatures,hours of sunshine,and wind,with longer lag *** incidences showed a negative correlation with wind ***:Our results showed that rainfall,temperature,humidity,hours of sunshine,and wind are correlated with local dengue *** have suggested ways to improve dengue management routines and to control it in these times of global *** also noticed that the results of dengue weather correlation studies can vary depending on the data analysis.

Arginine kinase in Toxocara canis:Exon-intron organization,functional analysis of site-directed mutants and evaluation of putative enzyme inhibitors

Objective: To determine exon/intron organization of the Toxocara canis(T. canis) AK(TCAK) and to test green and black tea and several other chemicals against the activity of recombinant TCAK in the guanidino-specific region by site-directed mutants. Methods: Amplification of genomic DNA fragments containing introns was carried out by pCRs. The open-reading frame(1 200 bp) of TCAK(wild type) was cloned into the BamH 1/Sali site of pM AL-c2X. The maltose-binding protein-TCAK fusion protein was expressed in Escherichia coli TB1 cells. The purity of the expressed enzyme was verified by SDS-pAGE. Mutations were introduced into the guanidino-specific region and other areas of pM AL/TCAK by pCR. Enzyme activity was measured with an NADH-linked assay at 25℃ for the forward reaction(phosphagen synthesis). Results: Arginine kinase in T. canis has a seven-exon/six-intron gene structure. The lengths of the introns ranged from 542 bp to 2 500 bp. All introns begin with gt and end with ag. Furthermore, we measured the enzyme activity of site-directed mutants of the recombinant TCAK. The K_m value of the mutant(Alanine to Serine) decreased indicating a higher affinity for substrate arginine than the wild-type. The K_m value of the mutant(Serine to Glycine) increased to 0.19 mM. The Km value(0.19 mM) of the double mutant(Alanine-Serine to Serine-Glycine) was slightly greater than in the wild-type(0.12 mM). in addition, several other chemicals were tested; including plant extract Azadiracta indica(A. indica), an aminoglycoside antibiotic(aminosidine), a citrus flavonoid glycoside(rutin) and a commercially available catechin mixture against TCAK. Green and black tea(1:10 dilution) produced 15% and 25% inhibition of TCAK, respectively. The extract of A. indica produced 5% inhibition of TCAK. Moreover, green and black tea produced a non-competitive type of inhibition and A. indica produced a mixed-type of inhibition on TCAK. Conclusions: Arginine kinase in T. canis has a seven-exon/six

The observed microwave background radiation （MBR） is commonly in- terpreted as the relic of an early hot universe, and its observed features （spectrum and anisotropy） are explained in terms of properties of the early universe. Here we describe a complementary, even possibly alternative, interpretation of MBR, first proposed in the early 20th century, and adapt it to modern observations. For example, the stellar Hipparcos data show that the energy density of starlight from the Milky Way, if suit- ably thermalized, yields a temperature of ~2.81 K. This and other arguments given here strongly suggest that the origin of MBR may lie, at least in a very large part, in re-radiation of thermalized galactic starlight. The strengths and weaknesses of this alternative radical explanation are discussed.

Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles(iONps) are heavily explored as diagnostic and therapeutic agents due to their low cost, tunable properties, and biocompatibility. in particular, upon excitation with an alternating current(AC) magnetic field, the Nps generate localized heat that can be exploited for therapeutic hyperthermia treatment of diseased cells or pathogenic microbes. in this review, we focus on how structural changes and inter-particle interactions affect the heating efficiency of iron oxide-based magnetic Nps. Moreover, we present an overview of the different approaches to evaluate the heating performance of iONps and introduce a new theranostic modality based on magnetic imaging guided–hyperthermia.

Ernst Chladni is called the father of acoustics for his work,which includes investigating patterns formed by vibrating *** these patterns helps research involving standing waves and other harmonic behaviors,including studies of single electron orbits in *** experiment vibrates circular plates which result in well-known *** to traditional experiments that used sand or salt,we use magnetic materials,namely iron filings and nickel *** then manipulate the patterns by applying a localized external magnetic field to one of the rings that moves a segment of the magnetic material in that ring to the next inner *** results show a significant decrease in magnetic field necessary to move the magnetic material at higher frequencies as well as a significant decrease in the magnetic field required to move the magnetic material as nickel powder is substituted for iron filings while keeping the mass constant.
