Significance of including lid thickness and particle shape factor in numerical modeling for prediction of particle trap efficiency of invert trap

Sediment accumulation on the bed of open sewers and drains reduces hydraulic efficiency and can cause localized *** invert traps installed underneath the bed of open sewers and drains can eliminate sediment build-up by catching sediment *** three-dimensional(3D)computational studies have examined the particle trapping performance of invert traps of different shapes and depths under varied sediment and flow conditions,considering particles as *** two-dimensional and 3D numerical modeling,researchers assumed the lid geometry to be a thin line and a plane,*** this 3D numerical study,the particle trapping efficiency of a slotted irregular hexagonal invert trap fitted at the flume bottom was examined by incorporating the particle shape factor of non-spherical sewage solid particles and the thicknesses of upstream and downstream lids over the trap in the discrete phase model of the ANSYS Fluent 2020 R1 *** volume of fluid(VOF)and the realizable k-turbulence models were used to predict the velocity *** two-dimensional particle image velocimetry(PiV)was used to measure the velocity field inside the invert *** results showed that the thicknesses of upstream and downstream lids affected the velocity field and turbulent kinetic energy at all flow *** joint impact of the particle shape factor and lid thickness on the trap efficiency was *** both the lid thickness and particle shape factor were considered in the numerical modeling,trap efficiencies were underestimated,with relative errors of-8.66%to-0.65%in comparison to the experimental values of Mohsin and Kaushal(2017).They were also lower than the values predicted by Mohsin and Kaushal(2017),which showed an overall overestimation with errors of-2.3%to 17.4%.

Self-similar steady natural convection thermal boundary layer flow from a rotating vertical cone to anisotropic Darcian porous medium is investigated theoretically and numerically. The transformed non-dimensional two-point boundary value problem is reduced to a system of coupled, highly nonlinear ordinary differential equations, which are solved subject to robust surface and free stream boundary conditions with the MAPLE 17 numerical quadrature software. Validation with earlier non-rotating studies is included, and also further verification of rotating solutions is achieved with a variational finite element method （FEM）. The rotational （spin） parameter emerges as an inverse function of the Grashof number. The influence of this parameter, primary Darey number, secondary Darcy number and Prandtl number on tangential velocity and swirl velocity, temperature and heat transfer rate are studied in detail. it is found that the dimensionless tangential velocity increases whilst the dimensionless swirl velocity and temperature decrease with the swirl Darcy number, tangential Darcy number and the rotational parameters. The model finds applications in chemical engineering filtration processing, liquid coating and spinning cone distillation columns.

Electrical conductivity has been measured at different temperatures for ZrO2 doped with various molar ratios of CuO. The conductivity increases due to migration of vacancies, created by doping. The conductivity was found to increase with increase in temperature till 220℃ and thereafter decrease due to collapse of the fluorite framework. A second rise in conductivity around 500 ℃ was observed due to phase transition of ZrO2. X-ray powder diffraction, DTA and iR studies were carried out for confirming doping effect and phase transition in ZrO2.

AiM To establish the relationship of protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 2 and 22(PTPN2/22) polymorphisms and mycobacterial infections in Crohn's disease(CD). METHODS All 133 subjects' blood samples were genotyped for nine single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in PTPN2/22 using TaqMan^(?) genotyping, while the effect of the SNPs on PTPN2/22 and iFN-γ gene expression was determined using RT-PCR. Detection of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis(MAP) iS900 gene was done by nPCR after DNA extraction from the isolated leukocytes of each subjects' blood samples. T-cells isolated from the patient samples were tested for response to phytohematoagglutonin(PHA) mitogen or mycobacterial antigens by Brd U proliferation assays for T-cell activity. RESULTS Out of the nine SNPs examined, subjects with either heterozygous(TC)/minor(CC) alleles in PTPN2:rs478582 occurred in 83% of CD subjects compared to 61% healthy controls(P-values ith either heterozygous(GA)/minor(AA) alleles in PTPN22:rs2476601 occurred in 16% of CD compared to 6% healthy controls(OR = 2.7). Gene expression in PTPN2/22 in CD subjects was significantly decreased by 2 folds compared to healthy controls(P-values iFN-γ expression levels were found to be significantly increased by approxiately 2 folds in subjects when either heterozygous or minor alleles in PTPN2:rs478582 and/or PTPN22:rs2476601 were found(P-values in 61% of CD compared to only 8% of healthy controls(P-values ith either heterozygous or minor alleles in PTPN2:rs478582 and/or PTPN22:rs2476601 had more MAPbacteremia presence than subjects without SNPs did. T h e average T-cell proliferation in CD treated with PHA or mycobacteria antigens was, respectively, 1.3 folds and 1.5 folds higher than healthy controls without any significant SNP. A biofluid dynamics mathematical model is developed to study peristaltic flow of non-Newtonian physiological liquid in a two-dimensional asymmetric channel containing porous media as a simulation of obstructed digestive （intestinal） transport. The fractional Oldroyd-B viscoelastic rheological model is utilized. The biophysical flow regime is constructed as a wave-like motion and porous medium is simulated with a modified Darcy-Brinkman model. This model is aimed at describing the diges- tive transport in intestinal tract containing deposits which induce impedance. A low Reynolds number approximation is em- ployed to eliminate inertial effects and the wavelength to diameter ratio is assumed to be large. The differential transform method （DTM）, a semi-computational technique is employed to obtain approximate analytical solutions to the boundary value problem. The influences of fractional （rheological material） parameters, relaxation time, retardation time, amplitude of the wave, and permeability parameter on peristaltic flow characteristics such as volumetric flow rate, pressure difference and wall friction force are computed. The present model is relevant to flow in diseased intestines.

This study aimed to investigate the activity of lactase immobilized polycaprolactone and silk fibroin(PCL/SF)-based nanofiber and nitrocellulose membrane for the preparation of lactose-reduced ***/SF-based nanofiber was prepared by using the electrospinning *** lactase enzyme was immobilized using the physical adsorption method on both surfaces,and then the optimum operating temperature and pH of the immobilized enzymes were *** efficiency of the immobilized lactase enzyme was determined in both goat and cow *** nutrient content of milk was also analyzed before and after the incubation of nanofiber and membrane with *** lactose hydrolysis efficiency of the lactase immobilized nitrocellulose membrane was found to be higher than the lactase immobilized PCL/SF-based *** was hydrolyzed 59%in cow milk and 87%in goat milk by using lactase immobilized nitrocellulose membrane.42%of lactose was also hydrolyzed in cow milk and 21%was hydrolyzed in goat milk by using lactase immobilized PCL/SF-based ***,the use of these two bioactive surfaces did not change the fat and protein composition of both cow and goat *** conclusion,lactase immobilized nitrocellulose membrane was found to be more advantageous in the production of lactose-reduced milk than the lactase immobilized polycaprolactone/silk fibroin nanofiber.
