Esti.a.ing the effective reproduction number of COViD-19 from population-wide wastewater data:An appli.a.ion in Kagawa,Japan

Although epidemiologi.a. surveillance of COViD-19 has been gradually downgraded globally,the transmission of COViD-19 *** is criti.a. to quantify the transmission dynamics of COViD-19 using multiple datasets including wastewater virus concentration ***,we propose a comprehensive method for esti.a.ing the effective reproduction number using wastewater *** wastewater virus concentration data,which were collected twice a week,were analyzed using daily COViD-19 incidence data obtained from Takamatsu,Japan between January 2022 and September *** esti.a.ed the shedding load distribution(SLD)as a function of time since the date of infection,using a model employing the delay distribution,which is assumed to follow a gamma distribution,multiplied by a scaling *** also examined models that accounted for the temporal smoothness of vi.a. load measurement *** model that smoothed temporal patterns of vi.a. load was the best fit model(WAiC=2795.8),which yielded a mean esti.a.ed distribution of SLD of 3.46 days(95%Cri:3.01–3.95 days).Using this SLD,we reconstructed the daily incidence,which enabled computation of the effective reproduction *** the best fit posterior draws of parameters directly,or as a prior distribution for subsequent analyses,we first used a model that assumed temporal smoothness of vi.a. load concentrations in wastewater,as well as infection counts by date of *** the subsequent approach,we examined models that also incorporated weekly reported case counts as a proxy for weekly incidence *** approaches enabled esti.a.ions of the epidemic curve as well as the effective reproduction number from twice-weekly wastewater vi.a. load *** weekly case count data reduced the uncertainty of the effective reproduction *** conclude that wastewater data are still a valuable source of information for inferring the transmission dynamics of COViD-19,and that inferential performance is enhanced when tho

in recent years, research on the esti.a.ion of human emotions has been active, and its appli.a.ion is expected in various fields. Biologi.a. reactions, such as electroencephalography (EEG) and root mean square successive difference (RMSSD), are indi.a.ors that are less influenced by individual arbitrariness. The present study used EEG and RMSSD signals to assess the emotions aroused by emotion-stimulating i.a.es in order to investi.a.e whether various emotions are associated with characteristic biometric signal fluctuations. The partici.a.ts underwent EEG and RMSSD while viewing emotionally stimulating i.a.es and answering the questionnaires. The emotions aroused by emotionally stimulating i.a.es were assessed by measuring the EEG signals and RMSSD values to determine whether different emotions are associated with characteristic biometric signal variations. Real-time emotion analysis software was used to identify the evoked emotions by describing them in the Circumplex Model of Affect based on the EEG signals and RMSSD values. Emotions other than happiness did not follow the Circumplex Model of Affect in this study. However, ventral attentional activity may have increased the RMSSD value for disgust as the β/θ value increased in right-sided brain waves. Therefore, the right-sided brain wave results are necessary when measuring disgust. Happiness can be assessed easily using the Circumplex Model of Affect for positive scene analysis. improving the current analysis methods may facili.a.e the investi.a.ion of face-to-face communi.a.ion in the future using biometric signals.

Background:We clarified the predictive factors for changes in the status ofmedi.a.ions for lower uri.a.y tract symptoms(LUTS)2 years after local radiotherapy for nonmetastatic prostate *** and methods:We retrospectively included patients who underwent local external radiotherapy for nonmetastatic prostate cancer in 8 institutions between April 2001 and March *** were divided into themedi.a.ion and no-medi.a.ion group based on the use of drugs for LUTS before *** defined improvement of LUTS as when the patient did not require medi.a.ion for LUTS at 24 months after radiotherapy in the medi.a.ion group and as deterioration whenmedi.a.ion was required in the no-medi.a.ion *** regression analysis was used to evaluate predictive factors for changes in medi.a.ion ***:Altogether,505 patients were divided into a no-medi.a.ion group(n=352)and a medi.a.ion group(n=153).The number of patients with deterioration and improvement in LUTS was 49(14%)and 36(23%),*** the multi.a.iate analysis,the predictive variables for deterioration were the international Prostate SymptomScore(≥8;odds ratio[OR],2.21;p=0.014)and the biopsy Gleason score(≤3+4=7;OR,2.430;p=0.008)in the no-medi.a.ion group,whereas those for improvement were age(ity of life score(itive biopsy core rate(≥50%;OR,2.530;p=0.027)in the medi.a.ion ***:These predictive factors for changes in the status ofmedi.a.ions for LUTS at 2 years after external radiotherapymay help determine the definitive therapy for nonmetastatic prostate cancer.

This article addresses the increasing need for partici.a.ory approaches to di.a.ter reduction at the community level. Based on the author's 30-year engagement in the mountainous community Chizu Town, Tottori Prefecture, Japan, a unique partici.a.ory approach called ‘‘Zeroto-One Movement'' has been strategi.a.ly studied. The study areas are found to have adaptively increased their coping capacity. Their unique partici.a.ory process is shown to be an adaptive process for SMART community governance under persistent disruptive risks—‘‘S'' represents small-sized and survi.a.ility-minded, ‘‘M'' modestscale and multiple-stakeholder involved, ‘‘A'' antici.a.ory and adaptive, ‘‘R'' risk-concerned and responsive, and ‘‘T''is transformative. Fi.a.ly, the Case Station-Field Campus scheme is proposed to serve as a platform for studying the adaptive processes over a long period of time.
