i. thi. decade,coal fly ash(CFA)i. consi.ered a potenti.l secondary source of rare earth elements(REEs).However,most REEs i. coal fly ash are encapsulated i. alumi.osi.i.ate glass,maki.g i. challengi.g to recover them through aci. *** thi. study,a sequenti.l alkali.e-organi. aci. leachi.g was developed for the recovery of REEs from *** effect of alkali.e leachi.g usi.g NaOH soluti.n on the destructi.e abi.i.y of alumi.osi.i.ate glass,as well as the mi.eralogy and morphology changes of the resulti.g coal fly ash,was fi.st ***,the effecti.eness of alkali.e leachi.g on the recovery abi.i.y of REEs through organi. aci. leachi.g was *** results show that the maxi.um leachi.g effi.i.ncy for si.and Al,whi.h was obtai.ed at the opti.um alkali.e leachi.g condi.i.ns,namely NaOH concentrati.n of 10 mol/L,reacti.n temperature of 65℃,li.ui./soli.(L/s)rati. of 10 mL/g,and reacti.n ti.e of 90 mi.,i. 28%and 32%,*** di.esti.n reacti.n wi.h NaOH li.i.i.nts also causes coal fly ash to become more porous,maki.g i. advantageous i. the organi. aci.-leachi.g process at the REEs recovery *** uti.i.ati.n of the desi.i.ated resi.ue produced from the di.esti.n process i. aci. leachi.g effecti.ely i.creases the overall REEs recovery from 32.2%to 77.6%.

Compacted clay li.ers are an i.tegral part of the waste landfi.ls,whi.h are provi.ed to contai. the leachate wi.hi. the landfi.ls and protect the surroundi.g ***,locally avai.able natural soi.s are used for the constructi.n of compacted clay li.ers i. they sati.fy the desi.n ***,not all soi.s i. thei. natural state sati.fy all the desi.n cri.eri. for the li.er ***,there i. a defi.i.e need to modi.y the locally avai.able natural soi.s by blendi.g wi.h bentoni.e to meet the requi.ed desi.n cri.eri. for the *** vi.w of thi.,the present study evaluates the sui.abi.i.y of an i.di.n red soi. enhanced wi.h bentoni.e as a li.er *** achi.ve thi.,a seri.s of experi.ents were carri.d out usi.g locally avai.able red soi. and ***,the sui.abi.i.y of the red soi. was evaluated as a li.er *** experi.ental results showed that the red soi. met all the selecti.n cri.eri. sti.ulated by the Envi.onmental Protecti.n Agenci.s(EPAs)for the li.ers except the hydrauli. conducti.i.y ***,the red soi. was mi.ed wi.h bentoni.e contents of 10%,20%and 30%,and the red soi.-bentoni.e mi.tures were evaluated for thei. sui.abi.i.y for li.ers i. thei. compacted ***,as the li.ers i. the ari. and semi.ari. regi.ns are subjected to moi.ture vari.ti.ns due to seasonal moi.ture fluctuati.ns and other factors,the red soi.-bentoni.e mi.tures were subjected to wetdry cycles,and thei. sui.abi.i.y was evaluated after wet-dry *** experi.ental results revealed that all the red soi.-bentoni.e mi.tures met the sti.ulated EPA cri.eri. for the li.ers i. the as-compacted ***,the red soi.-bentoni.e mi.tures wi.h 20%and 30%bentoni.e contents only sati.fi.d the hydrauli. conducti.i.y requi.ement even after wet-dry *** experi.ental fi.di.gs were supplemented wi.h the mi.rostructural i.si.hts captured through di.i.al camera i.ages,scanni.g electron mi.roscopy(sEM),and mercury i.trusi.n porosi.etry(M
