Work on thi. pri.ci.le di. not bri.g results. The correct approach to creati.g the theory of.ball li.htni.g should be the desi.e to explai. all of.i.s properti.s, even those that are rare. i. the database of.ball li.htni.g observati.ns, the most valuable are the cases when i. lef. traces avai.able f.r quanti.ati.e analysi., or was f.0}med by vi.eo cameras. Ball li.htni.g i. a materi.l body consi.ti.g of.a shell and a multi.element core. Cases of.water heati.g made i. possi.le to determi.e energy densi.y of.ball li.htni.g, whi.h turned out to be hi.her than 1010 J/m3. As uni.ersi.i.s i. Kazakhstan conti.ue to address the challenges that come wi.h developi.g Engli.h-medi.m i.structi.n (EMi. programs, uni.ersi.y Sci.nce, Technology, Engi.eeri.g, and Mathemati.s (STEM) teachers need to develop capaci.i.s to teach i. Engli.h, whi.e thei. Engli.h teacher counterparts need to develop content-speci.i. pedagogi.al knowledge. Content and Language i.tegrated Learni.g (CLi.) pedagogi.s, def.0}ed as the i.tegrati.n of.both language and content curri.ular goals, have emerged as a vehi.le to f.ci.i.ate thi. development f.r both types of.teachers. However, what i. means to be a CLi. teacher may vary consi.erably as teachers leverage thei. prof.ssi.nal knowledge and personal experi.nces. We, theref.re, explore teachers’ concepti.ns of.CLi. and how thei. di.ci.li.ary, li.gui.ti., and pedagogi.al backgrounds enable or burden them to f.rge a “CLi. teacher” i.enti.y. Thi. quali.ati.e study i.lustrates the sali.nt poi.ts of.the journeys taken by two uni.ersi.y teachers, one a speci.li.t i. oi. and gas, the other an Engli.h teacher and teacher educator. Drawi.g on extended one-on-one i.tervi.ws, we present two teachers’ experi.nces through a seri.s of.CLi.-i.f.rmed workshops. Usi.g a multi.i.ci.li.ary analyti.al f.amework, we map the ways i. whi.h the two teacher parti.i.ants negoti.te thei. i.enti.i.s i. relati.n to CLi.. The f.0}di.gs hi.hli.ht the i.portance of.understandi.g teacher experi.nces, parti.ularly thei. language learni.g backgrounds, atti.udes toward supporti.g student learni.g, and relati.nshi.s wi.h thei. colleagues as they work to adapt to teachi.g Engli.h and STEM subjects i. uni.ersi.y EMi.contexts.
