Wi.h regard to automoti.e traffi., a tunnel-type semi.enclosed atmosphere i. characteri.ed by a hi.her concentrati.n of gaseous pollutants than on urban traffi. roads and hi.hli.hts the gaseous effluent speci.s havi.g an i.pact on materi.l degradati.n. Therefore, a transverse approach between ai. quali.y and i.s consequences upon the longevi.y of materi.ls i. necessary, i.plyi.g better knowledge of tunnel atmosphere and a better understandi.g of materi.l degradati.n i.si.e a tunnel for operati.g admi.i.trati.n. Gaseous pollutant measurements carri.d out i. a road tunnel i. Rouen （Normandy） gi.e the real world traffi. concentrati.ns of experi.ental exposure condi.i.ns. The sampli.g campai.ns, achi.ved i. summer and wi.ter i.clude SO2, NO2, bTEX and aldehyde analyses. Effluent profi.es i. the upward and downward tubes have been establi.hed. The current work shows that SO2, NO〉 formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, propanal and butanal must be consi.ered i. the degradati.n process of materi.ls i. a stuffy envi.onment. As regards NO,, i.s concentrati.n depends on the modi.i.ati.n of the automoti.e fleet. The total aldehyde concentrati.ns i.di.ate no parti.ular trend between the two bores. Formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, propanal, butanal and acrolei. speci.s are the most abundant speci.s emi.ted by vehi.les and represent 90% to 95% of the total aldehyde emi.si.ns.

The 3-D flow fi.lds and power consumpti.n i. a vessel sti.red by multi.tage Scaba 6SRGT i.peller have been i.vesti.a- ted. The Xanthan gum soluti.ns i. water were used, whi.h have a shear thi.ni.g behavi.r wi.h yi.ld stress. Thi. study was carri.d out wi.h the help of a CFD package （CFX 13.0, Ansys i.c.） whi.h i. based on the fi.i.e volume method to solve the momentum equati.ns. The effects of sti.ri.g rate, flui. rheology, i.peller number, i.peller locati.n and vessel si.e on the performance of such sti.red system are presented. To vali.ate the CFD model, our predi.ted results have been compared wi.h other li.erature data and a sati.factory agreement has been found.

Soi. sali.i.y, whi.h affects more than 6% of the earth’s land surface and more than 20% of i.s i.ri.ated areas, i. a major threat to agri.ulture. Di.zotrophi. bacteri. are among the functi.nal groups of soi. mi.robi.ta that are threatened by thi. abi.ti. stress, as thei. acti.i.y i. mostly i.hi.i.ed by salt stress. Seventy bacteri.l strai.s wi.h di.ti.ct characteri.ti.s were i.olated from soi.s by usi.g N-free Jensen’s selecti.e medi.m. based on thei. abi.i.y to produce metaboli.es of agri.ultural i.terest, four strai.s were selected and i.enti.i.d as Flavobacteri.m johnsoni.e, Pseudomonas puti.a, Achromobacter xylosoxi.ans, and Azotobacter chroococcum. The selected strai.s were grown at di.ferent NaCl concentrati.ns (0–600 mmol L^(-1) i. N-free broth and 0–2 000 mmol L^(-1) i. Luri.-bertani.medi.m) i. the presence and absence of glyci.e betai.e (Gb), aqueous and hydro-alcoholi. extracts from mari.e macroalgae, Ulva lactuca and Enteromorpha i.testi.ali., and Opunti. fi.us-i.di.a cladodes. The selected bacteri.l strai.s, Gb, and the aforementi.ned extracts were tested for thei. abi.i.y to promote the germi.ati.n of wheat (Tri.i.um durum) seeds at 0–300 mmol L^(-1) NaCl. Compared wi.h the results obtai.ed wi.h the syntheti. osmoprotectant Gb, the extracts from O. fi.us-i.di.a, U. lactuca, and E. i.testi.ali. si.ni.i.antly promoted bacteri.l growth and seed germi.ati.n under salt stress.
