The i.enti.i.ati.n of jets ori.i.ati.g from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon taggi.g,plays an i.portant role i. vari.us analyses performed at the Large Hadron Colli.er,as Standard model measurements and searches for new parti.les decayi.g to quarks often rely on suppressi.g a large gluon-i.duced background.Thi. paper descri.es the measurement of the effi.i.nci.s of quark/gluon taggers developed wi.hi. the ATLAS Collaborati.n,usi.g √s=13 TeV proton–proton colli.i.n data wi.h an i.tegrated lumi.osi.y of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS experi.ent.Two taggers wi.h hi.h performances i. rejecti.g jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studi.d:one tagger i. based on requi.ements on the number of i.ner-detector tracks associ.ted wi.h the jet,and the other combi.es several jet substructure observables usi.g a boosted deci.i.n tree.A method i. establi.hed to determi.e the quark/gluon fracti.n i. data,by usi.g quark/gluon-enri.hed subsamples defi.ed by the jet pseudorapi.i.y.Di.ferences i. taggi.g effi.i.ncy between data and si.ulati.n are provi.ed for jets wi.h transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multi.le tagger worki.g poi.ts.

Abstract Accurate si.ulati.n of sei.mi. wave propaga- ti.n i. complex geologi.al structures i. of parti.ular i.terest nowadays. However conventi.nal methods may fai. to si.ulate reali.ti. wavefi.lds i. envi.onments wi.h great and rapi. structural changes, due for i.stance to the presence of shadow zones, di.fracti.ns and/or edge effects. Di.ferent methods, developed to i.prove sei.mi. model- i.g, are typi.ally tested on syntheti. confi.urati.ns agai.st analyti.al soluti.ns for si.ple canoni.al problems or ref- erence methods, or vi. di.ect compari.on wi.h real data acqui.ed i. si.u. Such approaches have li.i.ati.ns,especi.lly i. the propagati.n occurs i. a complex envi. ronment wi.h strong-contrast reflectors and surface i.reg- ulari.i.s, as i. can be di.fi.ult to determi.e the method whi.h gi.es the best approxi.ati.n of the ＂real＂ soluti.n, or to i.terpret the results obtai.ed wi.hout an a pri.ri.knowledge of the geologi. envi.onment. An alternati.e approach for sei.mi.s consi.ts i. compari.g the syntheti. data wi.h hi.h-quali.y data collected i. laboratory experi. ments under controlled condi.i.ns for a known confi.urati.n. i. contrast wi.h numeri.al experi.ents, laboratory data possess many of the characteri.ti.s of fi.ld data, as real waves propagate through models wi.h no numeri.al approxi.ati.ns. We thus present a compari.on of laboratory-scaled measurements of 3D zero-offset wave reflecti.n of broadband pulses from a strong topographi. envi.onment i.mersed i. a water tank wi.h numeri.al data si.ulated by means of a spectral-element method and a di.creti.ed Ki.chhoff i.tegral method. The results i.di.ate a good quanti.ati.e fi. i. terms of ti.e arri.als and acceptable fi. i. ampli.udes for all datasets.
