in this decade,coal fly ash(CFA)is considered a potential secondary source of rare earth elements(REEs).However,most REEs in coal fly ash are encapsulated in aluminosilicate glass,making it challenging to recover them through acid *** this study,a sequential alkaline-organic acid leaching was developed for the recovery of REEs from *** effect of alkaline leaching using NaOH solution on the destructive ability of aluminosilicate glass,as well as the mineralogy and morphology changes of the resulting coal fly ash,was first ***,the effectiveness of alkaline leaching on the recovery ability of REEs through organic acid leaching was *** results show that the maximum leaching efficiency for Si and Al,which was obtained at the optimum alkaline leaching conditions,namely NaOH concentration of 10 mol/L,reaction temperature of 65℃,liquid/solid(L/S)ratio of 10 mL/g,and reaction time of 90 min,is 28%and 32%,*** digestion reaction with NaOH lixiviants also causes coal fly ash to become more porous,making it advantageous in the organic acid-leaching process at the REEs recovery *** utilization of the desilicated residue produced from the digestion process in acid leaching effectively increases the overall REEs recovery from 32.2%to 77.6%.

The Effect of Coal Fly Ash Treatment with NaOH on the Characters and Adsorption Capacity toward Pb（Ⅱ） in the Solution

Coal fly ash （CFA） generated by coal-based thermal power plants is mainly composed of some oxides having high crystallinity, including quartz and mullite. in this study, the effect of CFA crystallinity toward its capacity on Pb（Ⅱ） adsorption was investigated. CFA with various crystaUinity was obtanied by refluxing it with sodium hydroxide （NaOH） solution having various concentrations （1-7 M） at various temperature and reflux time. To evaluate the effect of crystallinity of treated CFA on the adsorption capacity, adsorption of Pb（Ⅱ） solution with treated CFA was carried out. The research shows that the reflux of CFA with NaOH solution leads to the crystallinity of quartz and mullite in CFA decreased. The decrease is proportional with the concentration increasing, the temperature elevation, and the longer time. The reflux using NaOH solution with high concentration （〉 3 M） in addition causes a decrease in the crystallinity of quartz and mullite, also results in the formation of hydroxysodalite. The decrease of the CFA crystalllinity gives an increase in CFA adsorption capacity toward Pb（Ⅱ） solution.

Emerging viruses are viruses whose occurrence has risen within the past twenty years,or whose presence is likely to increase in the near *** caused by emerging viruses are a major threat to global public *** spite of greater awareness of safety and containment procedures,the handling of pathogenic viruses remains a likely source of infection,and mortality,among laboratory *** is a steady increase in both the number of laboratories and scientist handling emerging viruses for diagnostics and *** potential for harm associated to work with these infectious agents can be minimized through the application of sound biosafety concepts and *** main factors to the prevention of laboratory-acquired infection are well-trained personnel who are knowledgable and biohazard aware,who are perceptive of the various ways of transmission,and who are professional in safe laboratory practice *** addition,we should emphasize that appropriate facilities,practices and procedures are to be used by the laboratory workers for the handling of emerging viruses in a safe and secure *** review is aimed at providing researchers and laboratory personnel with basic biosafety principles to protect themselves from exposure to emerging viruses while working in the *** paper focuses on what emerging viruses are,why emerging viruses can cause laboratory-acquired infection,how to assess the risk of working with emerging viruses,and how laboratory-acquired infection can be *** measures used in the laboratory designed as such that they protect workers from emerging viruses and safeguard the public through the safe disposal of infectious wastes are also addressed.

Arctic sea-ice extent: No record minimum in 2023 or recent years

Arctic sea-ice extent reaches its minimum each year in September. On 11 September 2023 the minimum was 4.969 million square kilometers(***^(2)). This was not a record low, which occurred in 2012, when the minimum was 4.175 ***^(2), 0.794 ***^(2) less than the minimum in 2023. However, the ice extent had decreased by 0.432 ***^(2) compared with 2022. Nevertheless, the summer melting in 2023 was remarkably less than expected when considering the strong heat waves in the atmosphere and ocean, with record temperatures set around the world. in general, there is a high correlation between the long-term decrease in sea-ice extent and the increasing CO_(2) in the atmosphere, where the increase of CO_(2) in recent decades explains about 80% of the decrease in sea ice in September, while the remainder is caused by natural variability.

interleukin-6 and ratio of plasma interleukin-6/interleukin-10 as risk factors of symptomatic lumbar osteoarthritis

AiM To determine the role of cartilage oligomeric matrix protein(COMP), interleukin(iL)-6, iL-10 and ratio of iL-6/iL-10 as risk factors of symptomatic lumbar osteoarthritis(OA) in postmenopausal women with estrogen *** Case-control study had been conducted in Sanglah General Hospital from October 2015 until March 2016. The blood samples were obtained and analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELiSA).RESULTS From 44 pairs of samples which divided into 44 samples as case group and 44 samples as control group showed that high level of COMP in estrogen deficiency postmenopausal women were not at risk(OR = 0.7; 95%Ci: 0.261-1.751; P = 0.393) for symptomatic lumbar OA(cut-off point 0.946). Estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women with the high level of iL-6 had 2.7 times risk(OR = 2.7; 95%Ci: 0.991-8.320; P = 0.033) for symptomatic lumbar OA from the low level of iL-6(cut-off point 2.264). At lower level of iL-10, there was no risk for symptomatic lumbar OA(OR = 0.6; 95%Ci: 0.209-1.798; P = 0.345) than with the higher level of iL-10(cut-off point 6.049). While the high ratio of iL-6/iL-10 level in estrogen deficiency postmenopausal women gave 3.4 times risk(OR = 3.4; 95%Ci: 1.204-11.787; P = 0.011)for symptomatic lumbar OA than the low ratio of iL-6/iL-10 level(cut-off point 0.364).CONCLUSiON High ratio of iL-6/iL-10 plasma level was the highest risk factor for causing symptomatic lumbar OA in postmenopausal women with estrogen deficiency.

in the present paper are reported the OH…O out-of-plane bending band[γ(OH)] between 900—950 cm -1 of dimethylol propionic acid(DMPA), its dependence upon temperature and its overtone band investigated via FTiR spectroscopy. it has been found based on the crystal structure that the band [γ(OH)] may not certainly be the characteristic band of carboxylic dimers, it can also result from another H-bond formed between carboxylic carbonyl and the primary hydroxyl. in addition, the band [γ(OH)] is very sensitive to temperature change but its overtone band can only appear at a low temperature.

Anticancer activity test of ethyl acetate extract of endophytic fungi isolated from soursop leaf(Annona muricata L.)

Objective: To analyze anticancer activity of an ethyl acetate extract of endophytic fungi isolated from soursop leaf(Annona muricata L.). Methods: Anticancer activity of fungal extracts was determined by observing its toxicity against MCF-7(Michigan Cancer Foundation-7) cells in vitro by using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay method. At an extract concentration of 100 μg/m L, 4 isolates out of 12 showed high activity against the cancer cell growth. The four isolates were then selected for further iC50 determination, by measuring the inhibition of cancer cell proliferation at extract concentration of 25 μg/m L, 50 μg/m L, 100 μg/m L, 200 μg/m L and 400 μg/m L. Results: Results showed that isolate Sir-G5 had the highest anticancer activity with an iC50 of 19.20 μg/m L. The best isolates were screened again using a normal cell(Chang cells) to determine its toxicity against normal cells. Results indicated that the extracts do not affect the proliferation of normal cells. Molecular identification showed that the fungal isolate Sir-G5 has a close relationship with Phomopsis sp. Conclusions: The endophytic fungi isolated from soursop leaf has the potential to be used as a source of anticancer agents.

Employability Skills Needed by Higher Vocational Education Graduates to Be Successful in the Workplace

The current issues in workforce development are on high competence not only in technical skills, but also in non-technical skills. The term of non-technical skills is also called as employability skills. The research with topic analysis and development ofemployability skills of polytechnic students aims to： describe supervisors＇ perceptions of the importance of the employability skills needed in the workplace; describe supervisors＇ perceptions of the students＇ level of competence at performing the employability skills; and find the attributes of employability skills that are need to prioritize for development. Research sample has been selected by using a stratified random sampling from the supervisor of last year students when they are on the job training in industry. Total 146 supervisors participated in this research. The Employability Skills Questionnaire with a five-point Liken scale was used to assess perceptions level of importance of identified employability skills and students＇ level of competence. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, means and standard deviations, and priority development analysis. Three main groups of the employability skills with highest important level are： workplace health and safety, self-management, and team working. Students have a high level of competence in occupational health and safety, self-management and learning skills. There are three attributes of employability skills in high priority category for developed： knowing the benefits of computer application programs are needed in the work, taking the initiative in organizing activities, and participating in learning activities to gain new experience.

Peer pressure and academic stress among junior high school students:a cross-sectional study

Objective:The objective of the study was to explore the connection between peer pressure and academic stress among junior high school ***:This descriptive correlational study was conducted to investigate the link between perceived peer pressure and academic *** study involved a total of 525 adolescents,aged 14-19 years,drawn from 6 public junior high schools(PJHS)in Padang,indonesia,using purposive *** stress and perceived peer pressure were assessed using the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents(ESSA)and the Perceived Peer Pressure Scale(PPPS).Results:The findings indicated significant variations in stress levels among students in different grade levels(7th,8th,and 9th grades)(Pile there were no noteworthy differences in peer pressure across these grade levels(P>0.05).Additionally,there was a positive correlation observed between perceived peer pressure and academic stress(r=0.14,Piple regression analyses,incorporating demographic variables and perceived peer pressure as independent factors,yielded statistically significant results(adjusted R^(2)=0.082,F=4.33,Pirect impact on academic stress among adolescents,with class level and parents’educational background mediating the relationship between academic stress and adolescent behavioral ***:These findings underscore the importance of addressing both external and internal factors at the individual,family,school,and societal levels to enhance adolescents’psychological resilience and mitigate problem behaviors.
