AiM To determine the role of cartilage oligomeric matrix protein(COMP), interleukin(iL)-6, iL-10 and ratio of iL-6/iL-10 as risk factors of symptomatic lumbar osteoarthritis(OA) in postmenopausal women with estrogen *** Case-control study had been conducted in Sanglah General Hospital from October 2015 until March 2016. The blood samples were obtained and analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELiSA).RESULTS From 44 pairs of samples which divided into 44 samples as case group and 44 samples as control group showed that high level of COMP in estrogen deficiency postmenopausal women were not at risk(OR = 0.7; 95%Ci: 0.261-1.751; P = 0.393) for symptomatic lumbar OA(cut-off point 0.946). Estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women with the high level of iL-6 had 2.7 times risk(OR = 2.7; 95%Ci: 0.991-8.320; P = 0.033) for symptomatic lumbar OA from the low level of iL-6(cut-off point 2.264). At lower level of iL-10, there was no risk for symptomatic lumbar OA(OR = 0.6; 95%Ci: 0.209-1.798; P = 0.345) than with the higher level of iL-10(cut-off point 6.049). While the high ratio of iL-6/iL-10 level in estrogen deficiency postmenopausal women gave 3.4 times risk(OR = 3.4; 95%Ci: 1.204-11.787; P = 0.011)for symptomatic lumbar OA than the low ratio of iL-6/iL-10 level(cut-off point 0.364).CONCLUSiON High ratio of iL-6/iL-10 plasma level was the highest risk factor for causing symptomatic lumbar OA in postmenopausal women with estrogen deficiency.

Activity of tamarindus indica pulp water extract in high carbohydrate diet rats as a treatment for obesity and insulin resistance

Obesity is often identified as a nutritional disorder, and this condition continues to be one of the most important yet preventable health hazards. it may be a complex group of diseases and should be characterized as a syndrome that results from an imbalance between energy intake and expenditure. Furthermore, obesity is associated with several diseases such as diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases, osteoarthritis, and hypertension. in previous studies, we found that in Asia, especially in the Asean region, carbohydrates are heavily represented in the diet. Therefore, we used a high carbohydrate diet to induce obesity in rats. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potency of Tamarindus indica pulp as an anti-obesity agent in a high carbohydrate diet animal model. The antiobesity effect was evaluated in this in vivo model at doses of 75 mg/kg·bw and 225 mg/kg·bw. Treatment was started in week 3 and week 9, and biochemical characteristics were measured every 3 weeks. in the end of the study period, insulin resistance and adiponectin levels were measured. TiWE(Tamarindus indica water extract) at a dose of 75 mg/kg·bw showed better efficacy than at a dose of 225 mg/kg·bw, and treatment started on week 3 was better than treatment started on week 9. TiWE has an anti-obesity effect associated insulin resistance by increasing adiponectin levels and insulin sensitivity, which can impact body weight, triglyceride levels, blood glucose levels, and body fat.

The teaching of vocabulary, the basic unit of language studies, is not an easy task; it requires an understanding of linguistic theory, both micro and macro linguistics. This article is an attempt to explore the theoretical basis behind vocabulary teaching through pictures and discusses the position of linguistic theory in language teaching. While vocabulary has been considered as one aspect of language and it is basic to language study, the teaching of vocabulary includes some of the following characteristics. They are, among other things, sound production, spelling, grammar, classes, and semantics. The discussion is limited to the semantic aspect of vocabulary, especially the theory of semantics the teacher relies on. Within the study of meaning, a great many theories are recognized; these include Triangle-Semantics Theory, Componential Analysis Theory, and Theory of Language Use, e.g., Speech Acts, Sociolinguistics, Pragmatics, and Psycholinguistics. The focus in this-article, however, is on the Triangle-Semantics Theory. This article is supported with some sense data gained from teachers of English. The information is gathered by means of interview and observation in the classroom. Data analysis and interpretation of findings indicate that most teachers do not realize that they are relying on semantic theory when teaching vocabulary, the Triangle-Semantics Theory.

Because solar energy is among the renewable energies,it has traditionally been used to provide lighting in *** solar energy is effectively utilized during the day,the environment is not only more comfortable for users,but it also utilizes energy more efficiently for both heating and cooling *** of this,increasing the building’s energy efficiency requires first controlling the amount of light that enters the *** that the only parts of the building that come into direct contact with the sun are the windows,it is essential to make use of louvers in order to regulate the amount of sunlight that enters the *** the use of Ant Colony Optimization(ACO),the purpose of this study is to estimate the proportions and technical specifications of external louvers,as well as to propose a model for designing the southern openings of educational space in order to maximize energy efficiency and intelligent consumption,as well as to ensure that the appropriate amount of light is *** to the findings of this research,the design of external louvers is heavily influenced by a total of five distinct aspects:the number of louvers,the depth of the louvers,the angle of rotation of the louvers,the distance between the louvers and the window,and the reflection coefficient of the *** results of the 2067 simulated case study show that the best reflection rates of the louvers are between 0 and 15 percent,and the most optimal distance between the louvers and the window is in the range of 0 to 18 ***,the results show that the best distance between the louvers and the window is in the range of 0 to 18 centimeters.

Local Languages and Character Building: A Study on the Contribution of Mother Tongue to the Formation of Human Character

The research aims to examine how ancestor language contributed to character building and to explore some ways to protecting local languages from death. Questionnaires and an interview were used to gather information from students and teachers at institut Keguruan dan ilmu Pendidikan (iKiP) Mataram. Qualitative information also came from documents and some were derived from language theories. Analysis indicated that the formation of character education should consider local language as its component part;the cooperation of mother tongue into character education could be of assistance to preserving local languages from disappearance. The study was restricted to a small scale research and the analysis was developed within the context of iKiP Mataram. The findings would help to have a better understanding of the significance of mother tongue in character formation, to recommend character education as model of future education. The study was originally based on the primary information and had never been sent for publication. The results could be of benefit to those who are of interest to research into teaching.

Purpose:Severe damage to the femoral head in patients with osteonecrosis has a high impact on *** early diagnosis,the treatment outcome is still *** study aimed to explore the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and cyclic guanine monophosphate(cGMP)serum level as the risk factors of femoral head osteonecrosis in alcohol-exposed Wistar ***:This was an exper imental study using randomized post-test only control group design,with samples using 10-14 weeks Wistar male *** were then divided into 6 groups:3 groups without intervention,and 3 groups with intervention using 40%alcohol given *** one group from intervention and control group was euthanized by the end of the week for 3 consecutive *** femurs were examined under microscope for osteonecrosis,immunohistochemically for VEGF,and blood serum for cGMP ***:VEGF expression in the femoral head of alcohol-exposed Wistar rats was lower than those not exposed to alcohol(pistar rats were higher than those not exposed to alcohol(pic osteocytes in the femoral head of Wistar rats exposed to alcohol was greater than those not exposed to alcohol(pignificant differences between VEGF,cGMP levels,and number of necrotic osteocytes in the control group and treatment at 1st,2nd'and 3rd week(pions:Based on the result of this study,VEGF and cGMP may be considered as diagnostic bio-markers for alcohol-induced femoral head osteonecrosis.

in an agricultural field,the water content and salt content are defined as soil moisture and soil salinity and have to be estimated *** changing of these two factors can be assessed using remote sensing *** study was conducted by analysing the Landsat 8 satellite images,soil data of field surveys,laboratory analyses and statistical *** properties such as soil moisture and soil salinity were estimated using soil moisture index(SMi)and soil salinity index(SSi),*** research combined and integrated the soil data from survey and laboratory with Landsat 8 satellite images to build two multiple regression equations model named the soil pH index(SpHi).They are based on bare soil and paddy leaf models as the explanatory factors of soil moisture and soil salinity *** the computation processes were replicated three times using three different dates of Landsat 8 satellite images to produce the multi-temporal *** moisture increased after 30 days,while the salt content was only trace *** proposed models detected 4.49–7.59 of soil pH,4.66 in bare soil model and 6.62 in paddy leaf *** the planting period,the soil pH in bare soil model decreased to 2.12–6.47 while the paddy leaf model increased to 4.49–7.59 with RMSE 1.40 and PRMSE 24%of *** spatial relationship between soil pH,soil salinity and soil moisture are linear but varied in correlation level from weak,moderate to *** on the bare soil model,the relationship between soil pH and soil moisture shows a weak negative relationship with R28.37%and a strong positive relationship with R281.94%in paddy area and bare soil area respectively,as like as in paddy area based on the paddy leaf model with R2100%.The relationship between soil temperature and soil pH shows a weak negative relationship for all models and a moderate negative relationship of soil salinity and soil pH in bare soil area based on the bare soil model with R234.89%.

Arterial Duct Stenting Versus Modified Blalock-Taussig Shunt in Patient with Ductal-Dependent Pulmonary Circulation: Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis

Giant cell tumor(GCT) remains as major health problem. GCT which located at the lower end of the radius tends to be more aggressive. Wide excision and reconstruction of the wrist in stage 3 of distal radius GCT lesion is an optimal modality to prevent tumor recurrence. However, dislocation often occurs as its complication. We are reporting patient with GCT of distal radius treated with wide excision and reconstruction using nonvascularized fibular graft and the addition of hernia mesh. Circumferential non-absorbable polypropylene hernia mesh was applied, covered radioulnar joint and volar aspect of radius, and served as additional support to prevent dislocation. During five years and two months of follow-up, we found no dislocation in our patient. Furthermore, good functional outcome was obtained. Our finding suggests that the addition of hernia mesh after wide excision and reconstruction with nonvascularized fibular graft may benefit to prevent dislocation and provides an excellent functional outcome.
