BACKGROUND Osteoarthritis(OA)is the most common cause of pain and disability,predominantly affecting the *** current management of knee OA falls short of completely stopping disease progression,particularly in Kellgren-Lawrence(KL)grade 3 and 4 knee *** such,joint replacement is often recommended,although only 15%-33%of candidates accept *** therapeutic options are still needed to prevent the progression of joint damage and delay the need for knee *** To investigate the effect of adjunctive platelet rich plasma(PRP)and hyaluronic acid(HA)after arthroscopic debridement in KL grade 3 and 4 knee *** This retrospective cohort study used the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis index(WOMAC)score and WOMAC sub-scores(pain,stiffness,and function)to assess 21 patients,grouped according to medical record data of treatment received:Arthroscopic debridement(n=7);arthroscopic debridement with PRP(n=7);or arthroscopic debridement with HA(n=7).WOMAC scores and sub-scores at baseline and at 3 mo and 5 mo posttreatment were *** three-group data were statistically analyzed using the tests of paired t,one-way analysis of variance,and post hoc least significant *** All three treatment groups showed significant improvements in WOMAC score and sub-scores from before treatment to 3 mo and 5 mo after ***,the arthroscopic debridement with PRP treatment group,in particular,showed a significantly lower WOMAC pain score than the group who received arthroscopic debridement alone at 5 mo after the procedure(P=0.03).CONCLUSiON Compared to arthroscopic debridement alone,adjunctive PRP after arthroscopic debridement significantly lessened the patients’pain symptom.

Shear wave velocity model using HVSR inversion beneath Bandar Lampung City

Microfungi have been explored further as supplement constituents in shrimp culture due to their rich protein,lipid,essential amino acids,fatty acids,and various bioactive *** researchers have evaluated the effects of two microfungi powders(Mucor circinelloides and Trichoderma harzianum)as feed supplements on growth performance,bacterial communities,and the biomass nutritional profile of white shrimp(Litopenaeus vannamei).The results showed that commercial/artificial feed(Feng-Li)with supplementation microfungi powder had a different effect on white shrimp growth performance than control after 62 days of the grow-out *** with 1.5%*** powder(M-2)could improve the growth performance of white shrimp,especially the survival rate(81.33%),final body weight(5.21 g),and shrimp biomass(211.35 g).in contrast,supplementation with 1.5%*** powder(T-2)did not improve the growth performance of white shrimp compared to control(p>0.05).Furthermore,it also affected the profile of the bacterial community in culture water as well as in shrimp *** with both microfungi could reduce the total number of bacteria in culture water at the end of the experiment,where the lowest number was obtained in treatment T-2(3.9×10^(5)CFU/mL),followed by M-2(9.9×10^(5)CFU/mL)and control(4.4×10^(6)CFU/mL).in the culture water,20 isolates of culturable bacteria were found during the trial,with the dominant bacteria in M-2:Bacillus cereus,Bacillus velezensis,Gordonia polyisoprenivorans,T-2:Acinetobacter sp.,Gordonia polyisoprenivorans,Micrococcus *** on average well colour development(AWCD),the highest bacterial activity was in the M-2(0.297-0.707),followed by T-2(0.226-0.717)and control(0.094-0.694).The highest substrate group utilised in M-2 and T-2 were polymers(0.896 and 1.348)and control:amines(0.100).The highest Shannon diversity index was obtained in the M-2(2.508),followed by control(2.286)and the T-2(2.157).As many as

Objective: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition of insufficient penile erection, consistently or recurrently, for sexual activity. Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) induces transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), which causes the transition of epithelial cells into mesenchymal cells that affect ED. This study aimed to evaluate the roles of TNF-α, TGF-β, degree of lower urinary tract symptoms, and prostatic volume for the presence of ED in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) ***: Our study performed an analytic observational retrospective cohort study using secondary data from four hospitals in Bali, indonesia, including medical records and other administrative data. The sample was BPH patients with several history ***: Our sample was 83 respondents, ranging from 50 years to 80 years, 61 respondents with ED and 22 with non-ED. The international Prostate Symptom Score showed a significant result, which indicates that ED is more common in patients with higher international Prostate Symptom Score (p=0.002). Moreover, the TNF-α of ≥43.9 pg/mg and TGF-β of ≥175.8 pg/mL were significantly associated with the presence of ED in BPH patients (pite these results, prostate volume is not significant with ED (p=0.947).Conclusion: TNF-α, TGF-β, and lower urinary tract symptoms severity can predict the occurrence of ED in BPH, while prostatic volume was not significant.

Ten rock samples consisting of one pyroclastic density current （PDC1） deposit,seven lava flows （LF1–7）,and two summit lava domes （LD1,2） were studied to understand the petrogenesis and magma dynamics at *** stratigraphy is arranged as LF1,PDC1,LF2,LF3,LF4,LF5,LF6,LF7,LD1,and LD2;furthermore,these rocks were divided into two *** Ⅰ,observed in the oldest （LF1） sample,has poor MgO and high Ba/Nb,Th/Yb and *** remaining samples （PDC1–LD2） represent type Ⅱ,characterized by high MgO and low Ba/Nb,Th/Yb and Sr *** suggest that type i is derived from AOC （altered oceanic crust）-rich melts that underwent significant crustal assimilation,while type Ⅱ originates from mantle-rich melts with less significant crustal *** early stage of type Ⅱ magma （PDC1–LF3） was considered a closed system,evolving basaltic andesite into andesite （55.0–60.2 wt%SiO2） with a progressively increasing phenocryst (0.30–0.48φPC) and decreasing crystal size distribution （CSD） slope（from -3.9 to -2.9）.The evidence of fluctuating silica and phenocryst contents (between 55.9–59.7 wt% and 0.25–0.41φPC,respectively),coupled with the kinked and steep （from-5.0 to-3.3） CSD curves imply the interchanging condition between open （i.e.,magma mixing） and closed magmatic systems during the middle stage （LF4–LF6）.Finally,it underwent to closed system again during the final stage（LF7–LD2） because the magma reached dacitic composition（at most 68.9 wt%SiO2） with abundant phenocryst (0.38–0.45φPC) and gentle CSD slope （from -4.1 to -1.2）.

Numerical study on tidal currents and seawater exchange in the Benoa Bay, Bali, indonesia

A three-dimensional （3-D） finite volume coastal ocean model （FVCOM） was used for the study of water cir culation and seawater exchange in the Benoa Bay, Bali island. The M2 tidal component was forced in open boundary and discharge from six rivers was included in the numerical calculation. The M2 tidal elevation produced by the FVCOM has a good agreement with the observation data. The M2 tidal current is also suc cessfully calculated under the ebb tide and flood tide conditions. The non-linear M2 tidal residual current was produced by the coastline geometry, especially surrounding the narrow strait between the Serangan is- land and the Benoa Peninsula. The tidal residual current also generated two small eddies within the bay and one small eddy in the bay mouth. The salinity distribution influenced by river discharge could be success- fully calculated, where the numerical calculation and the observation results have a good correlation （r2） of 0.75. Finally in order to examine the seawater exchange in the Benoa Bay, the Lagrangian particle tracking method and calculation of residence time are applied. The mechanism of particle transport to the flushing of seawater is depicted clearly by both methods.

Hernia mesh prevent dislocation after wide excision and reconstruction of giant cell tumor distal radius

Giant cell tumor(GCT) remains as major health problem. GCT which located at the lower end of the radius tends to be more aggressive. Wide excision and reconstruction of the wrist in stage 3 of distal radius GCT lesion is an optimal modality to prevent tumor recurrence. However, dislocation often occurs as its complication. We are reporting patient with GCT of distal radius treated with wide excision and reconstruction using nonvascularized fibular graft and the addition of hernia mesh. Circumferential non-absorbable polypropylene hernia mesh was applied, covered radioulnar joint and volar aspect of radius, and served as additional support to prevent dislocation. During five years and two months of follow-up, we found no dislocation in our patient. Furthermore, good functional outcome was obtained. Our finding suggests that the addition of hernia mesh after wide excision and reconstruction with nonvascularized fibular graft may benefit to prevent dislocation and provides an excellent functional outcome.

The impact of the indian Ocean Dipole(iOD)and the El Nino Southern Oscillation(ENSO)event for indonesian rainfall has been investigated for the period from 1950 to ***-annual change of iOD and ENSO indices are used to investigate their relationship with indonesian *** using the wavelet transform method,we found a positive significant correlation between iOD and indonesian rainfall on the time scale of nearly 2.5–4 ***,the positive significant correlation between ENSO(sea surface temperature anomaly at Nino3.4 area indices)and indonesian rainfall exists for shorter than 2 years and between 5.5 to 6.5-year time scales.

The presence of hard rock in Mount Betung has caused the misalignment of the groundwater aquifers,and resulted in many drilling failures for *** integrated geophysics method using gravity survey and Geoelectric Vertical Electrical Soundings(VES)were conducted to study the effect of basement and hard rock on groundwater *** the gravity method,38 mapping points were carried out randomly,with a distance of 1-2 km ***,from the geoelectric method,51 VES points were acquired at the foot of Mount *** acquisition was conducted with a Schlumberger configuration with AB/2=1 m to 250 *** results show the Bouguer Anomaly in the west is 50-68 mgal due to the presence of hard rock in Mount *** anomaly responds to relatively shallow hard rocks near *** rocks composed of andesite and breccia normally present at the depth of 5-180 m during well *** isopach mapping from VES data(at AB/2=50 m,100 m,and 150 m)shows the dominant constituents of hard *** in hard rock contribute to secondary porosity,which could be a prospect zone that transmit *** finding shows that the fractures are randomly scattered,causing several well failures that have been ***,the fractures in the hard rock at the foot of Mount Betung acts as conduits between recharge at Mount Betung and the aquifer in the Bandar Lampung Basin.

Bacillus sp. SAB E-41-derived extract shows antiaging properties via ctt1-mediated oxidative stress tolerance response in yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe

Objective: To analyze potential activation of oxidative stress tolerance systems by SAB E-41 bacterial extract in promoting the life span of yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Methods: in vitro analysis was done to assess antioxidant activity of SAB E-41 bacterial extract. Antiaging property of the particular extract was then assayed through spot test and chronological life span assays. Furthermore, sty1 mitogen-activated protein kinase, pap1 transcriptional factor of oxidative stress response and its downstream genes, ctt1 were evaluated via real time PCR. The protein level of ctt1 was then observed via Western Blot analysis. in addition, accumulation of reactive oxygen species and mitochondrial activity were conducted to understand the effect of SAB E-41 upon oxidative stress response systems in vivo. Results: The iC50 values of corresponding extract for antioxidant(DPPH; ABTS) and antiglycation were 402.40, 358.13 and 683.55 μg/mL, respectively. in addition, SAB E-41 extract(750 μg/mL) exhibited antiaging properties, which could be attributed to significant up-regulation of oxidative stress response genes, sty1, pap1 and ctt1. interestingly, SAB E-41 extract could enhance stress tolerance phenotype of Schizosaccharomyces pombe against H2 O2-induced oxidative stress. These results were supported by increasing mitochondrial activity and reactive oxygen species intracellular levels. Conclusions: SAB E-41 extract could promote yeast life span likely via up-regulation of oxidative stress responses in yeast. Our results suggest that adaptive response via up-regulation of oxidative stress transcriptional factors, and its downstream gene, ctt1, as well as mitochondrial activity contributes in combating oxidative stress thus promoting yeast life span.
