Recent studies have highlighted the valuable role played by mangrove forests in carbon sequestration and *** indonesia accounts for a large proportion of global mangrove area, knowledge on the carbon stock and sources in the indonesian mangrove is still limited. in this study, we quantified the ecosystem organic carbon(OC) stock and its spatial variation at an oceanic mangrove in Wori, North Sulawesi, indonesia. The sources of soil OC were also investigated. The results showed that the mangrove soil had a substantial OC stock containing15.4 kg/m2(calculated by carbon) in the top 50 cm soil, and represented the majority of the ecosystem OC stock at the Wori mangrove. The mangrove biomass and ecosystem OC stock were 8.3 kg/m2and 23.7 kg/m2, *** was no significantly difference in the soil OC stock among the stations with difference distances offshore,while the highest mangrove biomass OC stock was found at the seaward station. isotope mixing calculations showed that the rich OC in mangrove soils was attributed to the accumulated autochthonous mangrove source while the suspended organic matter in tidal water and the mangrove-adjacent seagrass contributed less than 20%to the soil OC. The results further demonstrated the importances of the oceanic mangrove in carbon storage and the mangrove plants in contributing OC to their soils.

The stable isotope ratios of nitrogen(δ^(15)N) and carbon(δ^(13)C) were applied in this study to analyze sediment carbon sources and primary food sources of epifauna in an oceanic mangrove forest in tropical North Sulawesi, indonesia. Proportional contribution of mangrove-derived carbon to the food sources was compared among epifauna belonging to different feeding guilds. The sediment in the mangrove site with a depleted δ^(13)C signature(-28.02‰± 0.24‰) mainly consists of mangrove-derived carbon. Analysis using Bayesian stable isotope mixing model in the R program shows that mangrove-derived carbon can dominate the food sources of a majority of the epifauna(11 out of the total 18 species), especially 2 sesarmid crabs Parasesarma semperi and Sesarma sp., crab Epixanthus dentatus, and snails Terebralia sulcata and Optediceros breviculum, which belong to various feeding guilds. Mangrove-derived carbon has a proportional contribution to the food sources of fiddle crab Tubuca coarctata and 3 littorinid snails(Littoraria spp.) close to that of suspended particulate organic matter. Three planktophagous bivalve species(Anadara antiquata, Anadara sp. and Callista erycina) were found to mainly feed on seagrass-derived materials. Mean proportional contributions of mangrove-derived carbon to the food sources were 50.15%, 59.60%, 46.20% and 27.58% for the carnivorous, omnivorous, phytophagous and planktophagous groups, respectively. The results suggest that mangrove-derived carbon can directly(via grazing plant tissues) or indirectly(via deposit feedings) make an important contribution to the food sources of epifauna in the oceanic mangrove forest where the allochthonous input of organic carbon is low.

Eucalypts are important forest resources in southwestern China,and may be tolerant to elevated ground-level ozone(O3)concentrations that can negatively affect plant *** CO2 may offset O3-induced effects by providing excess carbon to produce secondary metabolites or by inducing stomatal ***,the effects of elevated CO2 and O3 on leaf secondary metabolites and other defense chemicals were studied by exposing seedlings of Eucalyptus globulus,***,and ***×*** to a factorial combination of two levels of O3(ient:370μmol mol^(−1)and 600μmol mol^(−1))in open-top field ***-profiles of leaf extracts illustrated the effect of elevated O3 and the countering effect of high CO2 on compounds in leaf epicuticular wax and essential oils,i.e.,n-icosane,geranyl acetate and elixene,compounds known as a first-line defense against insect herbivores.n-icosane may be involved in tolerance mechanisms of *** and the hybrid,while geranyl acetate and elixene in the tolerance of *** O3 and CO2,singly or in combination,affected only leaf physiology but not biomass of various *** CO2 impacted several leaf traits,including stomatal conductance,leaf mass per area,carbon,lignin,n-icosane,geranyl acetate and *** effects of elevated O3 on leaf physiology(nitrogen,n-icosane,geranyl acetate,elixene)were commonly offset by elevated *** conclude that ***,*** and the hybrid were tolerant to these O3 and CO2 treatments,and n-icosane,geranyl acetate and elixene may be major players in tolerance mechanisms of the tested species.

Study of Magnetite Crystal Structure Extracted from Local Sands of Tegal Lenga Beach

Magnetite (Fe3O4) crystals have been synthesized from the natural iron sands of Tegal Lenga Beach with HCl (37%) as a solvent. Tegal Lenga Beach is a stretch of beach located in Kalisada Village, Seririt District, Buleleng Regency, Bali Province, indonesia. iron sand samples were obtained by extracting local natural sand from Tegal Lenga Beach by magnetic separation method. The iron sand sample was ground with agate mortar for 15 hours, then washed and rinsed with deionized water (Di water). Furthermore, the fine powder sample of iron sand was dried on a hotplate at a temperature of 80˚C until all the water had evaporated. Eighty grams of fine iron sand powder dissolved in 200 mL HCl (37%) while stirring with a hot plate magnetic stirrer at a temperature of 100˚C with a rotating speed of 600 rpm for 30 minutes. This solution was filtered through Wattman filter paper No. 42;then the filtrate was dried using a hot plate at a temperature of 100˚C to form a crust. This crust is then ground in an agate mortar until it becomes a fine powder of iron sand. Furthermore, the iron sand fine powder filtrate sample was divided into four equal parts which were then calcined at temperatures of 300˚C, 400˚C, 450˚C, and 500˚C for 30 minutes, respectively. it was found that the fine powder of iron sand from the natural sand of the Tegal Lenga Beach consisted mostly of 84.26% metal oxide magnetite. The synthesized magnetite crystal has a tetrahedral structure with lattice parameters of a = b = (5.927 ± 0.0180) Åand c = (16.774 ± 0.0145) Å. Magnetite crystals have granular and lumpy grains with an average grain size of (94,560 ± 10,1397) μm. in relation to the values obtained from the hysteresis curve, namely the remanent magnetization of 9.6672 emu/gr, saturation magnetization of 45.3491 emu/gr, coercive magnetic field strength of 0.0242 T, and saturation magnetic field strength of 0, 2938 T, then this magnetite crysta

The development of GPS （global positioning system） receiver now can be integrated on a smartphone. GPS receiver on smartphones has been developed for location-based applications. Smartphones are very suitable to be used as an experimental tool, because smartphones are usually equipped with various types of sensors. This paper proposes a model observation vehicle speed on a road section based on the GPS data on the smartphone. Observations made by calculating the speed of the speed of vehicles moving through the data transfer at the GPS location of the smartphone, the data are then sent periodically to the server and server processing and storage of vehicle speed data. After tested with test reliability indicators use RMSE, observations with model observations speed, speed based on GPS data on a smartphone are relevant when compared with the speed directly from the vehicle＇s speedometer with the difference between the value of the difference of speed that is 3.1785 km/h.

Carbon monoxide is a poisonous and hazardous gas and sensitive sensor devices are needed to prevent humans from being poisoned by this gas. A CO gas sensor has been prepared from WO3 synthesized by a sol-gel method. The sensor chip was prepared by a spin-coating technique which deposited a thin film of WO3 on an alumina substrate. The chip samples were then calcined at 300, 400, 500 or 600 ℃ for 1 h. The sensitivities of the different sensor chips for CO gas were determined by comparing the changes in electrical resistance in the absence and presence of 50 ppm of CO gas at 200 ℃. The WO3 calcined at 500 ℃ had the highest sensitivity. The sensitivity of this sensor was also measured at CO concentrations of 100 ppm and 200 ppm and at operating temperatures of 30 and 100℃. Thermogravimetric analysis of the WO3 calcined at 500 ℃ indicated that this sample had the highest gas adsorption capacity. This preliminary research has shown that WO3 can serve as a CO gas sensor and that is should be further explored and developed.

Objective:Benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)is one of the most common diseases found among elderly *** though multiple risk factors of BPH have been identified in the past,the risk factors which have a direct impact on prostate volume have not been *** this study,we aim to determine the most significant contributing risk factors to prostate volume enlargement by analyzing possible associated risk factors previously ***:This is a quantitative study with an analytical observational design,performed using a retrospective cohort *** sampling was performed on 83 patients who underwent transurethral resection of the prostate(TURP)in Sanglah General Hospital from January to February *** analysis is performed to examine each variable's association with prostate volume followed by a multivariate *** variables were reassessed with path analysis to measure the direct effects,indirect effects,and total effects on prostate ***:Bivariate analysis shows that serum testosterone(R=0.208;p=0.059)and prostate-specific antigen(PSA)level(R=0.626;p=0.001)have a significant association with prostate *** analysis shows that serum PSA(B=1.4;p=0.001;95%confidence interval[95%Ci]=1.039-1.770)and testosterone(B=0.024;p=0.005;95%Ci=0.008-0.041)levels are significant among all the analyzed risk *** is a significant and strong effect of PSA to prostate volume(c=0.636;p=0.001)whereas testosterone has a significant albeit weak effect to prostate volume(c=0.246;p=0.009)based on the total effect of the path ***:Serum testosterone and PSA levels are significantly associated with prostatic volume increase among BPH patients.

The core of the natural product chemistry laboratory is isolation secondary metabolites. One of the potential secondary metabolites for isolation in the natural product chemistry laboratory is routine (quercetin-3-O-glycosides). Routine (Quercetin-3-O-glycoside) has been isolated from ethanol extract of rubber cassava leaves (i>Manihot glaziovii i>ily:Verdana;">MA). isolation was done by maceration and recrystallization. The isolation method used in this study is complemented by the isolation method published. The isolated (Quercetin-3-O-glycoside) routine using this method obtained a yield of 0.118% of the total dried leaf extract. The routine (Quercetin-3-O-glycoside) was identified using a standard routine. Routine can be further utilized in the world of medicine as an amplifier of capillary structure, reducing the permeability and fragility of blood vessels.
