Two-dimensional asymmetric chalcogen atoms attached to Janus nanoparticles have fascinated research attention owing to their distinctive properties and characteristics for various *** paper proposed a facile synthesis to produce efficient molybdenum-based symmetric and asymmetric chalcogens bounded by X Mo X and TeMo X ***,the fabricated X Mo X and TeMo X nanostruc-tures were employed as anodes for lithiumion batteries(LIBs).Assembled LIBs using TeMoS and TeMoSe Janus anodes achieved 2610 and 2073 mAh g^(-1)reversible capacity at 0.1 A g^(-1),respectively for the halfcell configuration,which is outstanding performance compared with previous *** rate capability performances at 0.1-20 A g^(-1)and exceptional cycling solidity confirmed high charge and discharge capacities for TeMo X Janus lithium-ion battery *** addition,the full cell device with TeMoS//LiCoO_(2)configuration explored the discharge capacity of 1605 mAh g^(-1)at 0.1 A g^(-1)which suggests their excellent electrochemical *** density functional theory approximations established the significance of assembled symmetric and asymmetric chalcogen atoms interacted with X Mo X and TeMo X anode materials for ***,the present investigation supports a new approach to creating two-dimensional materials based on asymmetric chalcogen atoms with core metal to effectively increase desirable energy storage characteristics.

It is difficult to scale up measurements of the sap flux density(J_S) for the characterization of tree or stand transpiration(E) due to spatial variations in J_S and their temporal *** assess spatial variations in the sap flux density of Korean pine(Pinus koraiensis) and their effects on E estimates,we measured the J_S using Granier-type *** trees,the J_S decreased exponentially with the radial depth,and the J_S of the east aspects were higher than those of the west *** trees,there was a positive relationship between J_S and the tree diameter at breast height,and this positive relationship became stronger as the transpiration demand *** spatial variations that caused large errors in E estimates(i.e.,up to 110.8 % when radial variation was ignored) had varied systematically with environmental factors systematic characteristics in relation to environmental ***,changes in these variations did not generate substantial errors in the E *** our study periods,the differences in the daily E(E_D) calculated by ignoring radial,azimuthal and tree-to-tree variations and the measured E_D were fairly constant,especially when the daily vapor pressure deficit(D_D)was higher than 0.6 k *** results imply that the effect of spatial variations changes on sap flow can be a minor source of error compared with spatial variations(radial,azimuthal and tree-to-tree variations) when considering E estimates.

Chronic hepatitis B virus(CHB)infection affects approximately 250 million persons worldwide(1).CHB is a major risk factor for liver failure,cirrhosis,and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),accounting for 45-55%of HCC cases(1).The incidence rates of HCC among CHB patients are 0.02-0.2 per 100 person-years in inactive carriers,0.3-0.6 per 100 person-years in those without cirrhosis,and 2.2-3.7 per 100 person-years for those with compensated cirrhosis(2).

Exploring novel versatile electrode materials with outstanding electrochemical performance is the key to the development of advanced energy conversion and storage *** this work,we aim to construct new-fangled one-dimensional(1D)quasi-layered patronite vanadium tetrasulfide(VS_(4))nanostructures by using different sulfur sources,namely thiourea,thioacetamide,and L-cysteine through an ethyleneaminetetraacetic-acid(EDTA)-mediated solvothermal *** as-prepared VS4exhibits several unique morphologies such as urchin,fluffy nanoflower,and polyhedron with appropriate surface *** the prepared nanostructures,the VS_(4)-1@NF nanostructure exhibited excellent electrochemical properties in 6 M KOH solution,and we explored its redox electrochemistry in *** asprepared VS_(4)-1@NF electrode exhibited battery-type redox characteristics with the highest capacity of280 C g^(-1)in a three-electrode ***,it offered a capacity of 123 F g^(-1)in a hybrid twoelectrode set-up at 1 A g^(-1)with the highest specific energy and specific power of 38.5 W h kg^(-1)and750 W kg^(-1),***,to ensure the practical applicability and real-world performance of the prepared hybrid AC@NF//VS_(4)-1@NF cell,we performed a cycling stability test with more than 5,000galvanostatic charge–discharge cycles at 2 A g^(-1),and the cell retained around 84.7%of its capacitance even after 5,000 cycles with a CE of 96.1%.

Anti-androgen therapy is the leading treatment for advanced prostate cancer and is commonly used for neoadjuvant or adjuvant treatment. Bicalutamide is a non-steroidal anti-androgen, used during the initiation of androgen deprivation therapy along with a luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonist to reduce the symptoms of tumor-related flares in patients with advanced prostate cancer. As side effects, bicalutamide can cause fatigue, gynecomastia, and decreased libido through competitive androgen receptor blockade. Additionally, although not as common, drug-induced liver injury has also been reported. Herein, we report a case of hepatotoxicity secondary to bicalutamide use. Typically, bicalutamideinduced hepatotoxicity develops after a few days; however, in this case, hepatic injury occurred 5 mo after treatment initiation. Based on this rare case of delayed liver injury, we recommend careful monitoring of liver function throughout bicalutamide treatment for prostate cancer.

Usefulness of colonic tattooing using indocyanine green in patients with colorectal tumors

AIM To prove that tattooing using indocyanine green(ICG) is feasible in laparoscopic surgery for a colon *** From January 2012 to December 2016, all patients who underwent laparoscopic colonic surgery were retrospectively screened, and 1010 patients with colorectal neoplasms were included. Their lesions were tattooed with ICG the day before the operation. The tattooed group(TG) included 114 patients, and the non-tattooed group(NTG) was selected by propensity score matching of subjects based on age, sex, tumor staging, and operation method(n = 228). In total, 342 patients were enrolled. Between the groups, the changes in [Delta(Δ), preoperative-postoperative] the hemoglobin and albumin levels, operation time, hospital stay, oral ingestion period, transfusion, and perioperative complications were compared. RESULTS Preoperative TG had a shorter operation time(174.76 ± 51.6 min vs 192.63 ± 59.9 min, P < 0.01), hospital stay(9.55 ± 3.36 d vs 11.42 ± 8.23 d, P < 0.01), and postoperative oral ingestion period(1.58 ± 0.96 d vs 2.81 ± 1.90 d, P < 0.01). The Δ hemoglobin(0.78 ± 0.76 g/dL vs 2.2 ± 1.18 g/dL, P < 0.01) and Δ albumin(0.41 ± 0.44 g/dL vs 1.08 ± 0.39 g/dL, P < 0.01) levels were lower in the TG. On comparison of patients in the "N0" and "N1 or N2" groups, the N0 colon cancer group had a better operation time, length of hospital stay, oral ingestion period, Δ hemoglobin, and Δ albumin results than those of the N1 or N2 group. The operation methods affected the results, and laparoscopic anterior resection(LAR) showed similar results. However, for left and right hemicolectomy, both groups showed no difference in operation time or hospital *** Preoperative tattooing with ICG is useful for laparoscopic colectomy, especially in the N0 colon cancer group and LAR.

Vitamin D Is Associated with Severity and Mortality of Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: A US Population-based Study

Background and Aims:There has been increasing evidence that vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of metabolic *** metabolic syndrome is a major risk factor for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD),we aimed to investigate the association between vitamin D and the severity and mortality of ***:Data was obtained from the United States Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted in 1988-1994,with followup mortality data through *** was defined by ultrasonographic detection of hepatic steatosis in the absence of other liver diseases and categorized as normal,mild,moderate or *** severity of hepatic fibrosis was determined by NAFLD fibrosis score (NFS).ANOVA (F-test) was used to evaluate the association between vitamin D level and degree of NAFLD,and Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was used for survival ***:Vitamin D levels for normal,mild,moderate and severe steatosis were 25.1 ± 0.29 ng/mL,24.7 ± 0.42 ng/mL,23.7 ± 0.37 ng/mL and 23.6 ± 0.60 ng/mL,respectively (trend p < 0.001).Likewise,vitamin D levels for low,intermediate and high NFS categories were 24.7 ± 0.38 ng/mL,23.4 ± 0.42 ng/mL and 21.5 ± 0.57 ng/mL,respectively (trend p < 0.001).After median-follow up over 19 years,vitamin D deficiency was significantly associated with diabetes-and Alzheimer's diseaserelated mortality (hazard ratio (HR):3.64,95%CI:1.51-8.82 and HR:4.80,95%CI:1.53-15.1,respectively),with a borderline significance in overall mortality (HR:1.16,95%CI:0.99-1.36,p =0.06).Conclusion:Vitamin D level was inversely related to the degree of liver steatosis and ***,vitamin D deficiency was associated with diabetes-and Alzheimer's disease-related mortality in NAFLD patients.
