In recent years,pure iron(Fe)has attracted significant attention as a promising biodegradable orthopedic implant material due to its excellent mechanical and biological properties.However,in physiological conditions,Fe has an extremely slow degradation rate with localized and irregular degradation,which is problematic for practical applications.In this study,we developed a novel combination of a nanostructured surface topography and galvanic reaction to achieve uniform and accelerated degradation of an Fe implant.The target-ion induced plasma sputtering(TIPS)technique was applied on the Fe implant to introduce biologically compatible and electrochemically noble tantalum(Ta)onto its surface and develop surface nano-galvanic couples.Electrochemical tests revealed that the uniformly distributed nano-galvanic corrosion cells of the TIPS-treated sample(nano Ta-Fe)led to relatively uniform and accelerated surface degradation compared to that of bare Fe.Furthermore,the mechanical properties of nano Ta-Fe remained almost constant during a long-term in vitro immersion test(~40 weeks).Biocompatibility was also assessed on surfaces of bare Fe and nano Ta-Fe using in vitro osteoblast responses through direct and indirect contact assays and an in vivo rabbit femur medullary cavity implantation model.The results revealed that nano Ta-Fe not only enhanced cell adhesion and spreading on its surface,but also exhibited no signs of cellular or tissue toxicity.These results demonstrate the immense potential of Ta-implanted surface nanostructures as an effective solution for the practical application of Fe-based orthopedic implants,ensuring long-term biosafety and clinical efficacy.

In moths,various enzymes,such as fatty acid synthases,fatty acyl desaturases,and fatty acyl reductases(FARs),are involved in pheromone biosynthesis.In particular,pheromone gland-specific FAR(pgFAR)plays an important role in converting the functional group from carboxylic to alcohol during pheromone biosynthesis.A novel pgFAR of Maruca vitrata,Mvi-pgFAR,was identified through transcriptome sequencing of its pheromone gland.To investigate the involvement of Mvi-pgFAR in pheromone biosynthesis,Mvi-pgFAR was cloned from the pheromone gland and suppressed by RNA interference(RNAi).Mvi-pgFAR harbored several conserved motifs related to NAD(P)H-binding,N-glycosylation,and adenosine/guanosine triphosphate binding.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that Mvi-pgFAR with other lepidopteran pgFARs formed an independent clade.Mvi-pgFAR was specifically expressed only in the pheromone gland.Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction showed that the diurnal expression levels of Mvi-pgFAR in the pheromone gland were the highest at 2 h before the scotophase.After primarily confirming Mvi-pgFAR suppression by RNAi,(E,E)-10,12-hexadecadienal(E10E12-16:Ald),a major sex pheromone component,was quantified by gas chromatography.When Mvi-pgFAR was successfully suppressed,E10E12-16:Ald production was reduced by up to half of that of the control,and the mating rate was subsequently decreased.Our results demonstrate that Mvi-pgFAR downregulation can suppress mating behavior by changing the relative sex pheromone component ratio,suggesting that Mvi-pgFAR can be used as a novel control target.

Porous titanium(Ti)scaffolds have been extensively utilized as bone substitute scaffolds due to their superior biocompatibility and excellent mechanical properties.However,naturally formed TiO2 on the surface limits fast osseointegration.Different biomolecules have been widely utilized to overcome this issue;however,homogeneous porous Ti scaffolds could not simultaneously deliver multiple biomolecules that have different release behaviors.In this study,functionally graded porous Ti scaffolds(FGPTs)with dense inner and porous outer parts were fabricated using a two-body combination and densification procedure.FGPTs with growth factor(BMP-2)and antibiotics(TCH)exhibited suitable mechanical properties as bone substituting material and presented good structural stability.The release of BMP-2 was considerably prolonged,whereas the release of TCH was comparable to that of homogenous porous titanium scaffolds(control group).The osteogenic differentiation obtained using FGPTs was maintained due to the prolonged release of BMP-2.The antimicrobial properties of these scaffolds were verified using S.aureus in terms of prior release time.In addition,various candidates for graded porous Ti scaffolds with altered pore characteristics were presented.

A Study on Small Pest Detection Based on a CascadeR-CNN-Swin Model

This study aims to detect and prevent greening disease in citrus trees using a deep neural network.The process of collecting data on citrus greening disease is very difficult because the vector pests are too small.In this paper,since the amount of data collected for deep learning is insufficient,we intend to use the efficient feature extraction function of the neural network based on the Transformer algorithm.We want to use the Cascade Region-based Convolutional Neural Networks(Cascade R-CNN)Swin model,which is a mixture of the transformer model and Cascade R-CNN model to detect greening disease occurring in citrus.In this paper,we try to improve model safety by establishing a linear relationship between samples using Mixup and Cutmix algorithms,which are image processing-based data augmentation techniques.In addition,by using the ImageNet dataset,transfer learning,and stochastic weight averaging(SWA)methods,more accuracy can be obtained.This study compared the Faster Region-based Convolutional Neural Networks Residual Network101(Faster R-CNN ResNet101)model,Cascade Regionbased Convolutional Neural Networks Residual Network101(Cascade RCNN-ResNet101)model,and Cascade R-CNN Swin Model.As a result,the Faster R-CNN ResNet101 model came out as Average Precision(AP)(Intersection over Union(IoU)=0.5):88.2%,AP(IoU=0.75):62.8%,Recall:68.2%,and the Cascade R-CNN ResNet101 model was AP(IoU=0.5):91.5%,AP(IoU=0.75):67.2%,Recall:73.1%.Alternatively,the Cascade R-CNN Swin Model showed AP(IoU=0.5):94.9%,AP(IoU=0.75):79.8%and Recall:76.5%.Thus,the Cascade R-CNN Swin Model showed the best results for detecting citrus greening disease.

Fexofenadine is useful in various allergic disease treatment.However,the pharmacokinetic variability information and quantitative factor identification of fexofenadine are very lacking.This study aimed to verify the validity of previously proposed genetic factors through fexofenadine population pharmacokinetic modeling and to explore the quantitative correlations affecting the pharmacokinetic variability.Polymorphisms of the organic-anion-transporting-polypeptide(OATP)1B1 and 2B1 have been proposed to be closely related to fexofenadine pharmacokinetic diversity.Therefore,modeling was performed using fexofenadine oral exposure data according to the OATP1B1-and 2B1-polymorphisms.OATP1B1 and 2B1 were identified as effective covariates of clearance(CL/F)and distribution volume(V/F)-CL/F,respectively,in fexofenadine pharmacokinetic variability.CL/F and average steady-state plasma concentration of fexofenadine differed by up to 2.17-and 2.20-folds,respectively,depending on the OATP1B1 polymorphism.Among the individuals with different OATP2B1 polymorphisms,the CL/F and V/F differed by up to 1.73-and 2.00-folds,respectively.Ratio of the areas under the curves following single-and multiple-administrations,and the cumulative ratio were significantly different between OATP1B1-and 2B1-polymorphism groups.Based on quantitative prediction comparison through a model-based approach,OATP1B1 was confirmed to be relatively more important than 2B1 regarding the degree of effect on fexofenadine pharmacokinetic variability.Based on the established pharmacokineticpharmacodynamic relationship,the difference in fexofenadine efficacy according to genetic polymorphisms of OATP1B1 and 2B1 was 1.25-and 0.87-times,respectively,and genetic consideration of OATP1B1 was expected to be important in the pharmacodynamics area as well.This population pharmacometrics study will be a very useful starting point for fexofenadine precision medicine.

Environmental,social,and governance(ESG)factors are critical in achieving sustainability in business management and are used as values aiming to enhance corporate value.Recently,non-financial indicators have been considered as important for the actual valuation of corporations,thus analyzing natural language data related to ESG is essential.Several previous studies limited their focus to specific countries or have not used big data.Past methodologies are insufficient for obtaining potential insights into the best practices to leverage ESG.To address this problem,in this study,the authors used data from two platforms:LexisNexis,a platform that provides media monitoring,and Web of Science,a platform that provides scientific papers.These big data were analyzed by topic modeling.Topic modeling can derive hidden semantic structures within the text.Through this process,it is possible to collect information on public and academic sentiment.The authors explored data from a text-mining perspective using bidirectional encoder representations from transformers topic(BERTopic)—a state-of-the-art topic-modeling technique.In addition,changes in subject patterns over time were considered using dynamic topic modeling.As a result,concepts proposed in an international organization such as the United Nations(UN)have been discussed in academia,and the media have formed a variety of agendas.

The growth performance and histochemical characteristics of breast muscle fibers were used to estimate the standardized ileal digestible(SID)Lys requirements for 10-to 21-d-old male broilers.Three hundred and sixty 10-d-old Ross 308 broilers(290±16.6 g)were allocated to 6 diets in a randomized complete block design with 6 replicate cages per treatment and 10 birds per cage.The 6 experimental diets were formulated to contain equally spaced increasing levels of SID Lys from 0.86%to 1.36%.The data were analyzed using the MIXED procedure of SAS.The Lys requirements were estimated by the NLIN procedure of SAS.An increase in dietary SID Lys from 0.86%to 1.36%resulted in a quadratic increase(P<0.05)in body weight gain(BWG),gain to feed ratio(G:F),breast weight,muscle cross-sectional area(MCSA),and fiber area.The SID Lys requirements based on the one-slope broken-line,quadratic line,the first intercept between the plateau of the one-slope broken-line and quadratic-line models and 95%of the upper asymptote of the quadratic-line model were estimated to be 1.01%,1.19%,1.08%,and 1.13%for BWG,1.06%,1.22%,1.11%,and 1.16%for G:F,1.10%,1.29%,1.19%,and 1.22%for breast weight,1.06%,1.22%,1.12%,and 1.16%for MCSA,and 1.14%,1.22%,1.16%,and 1.16%for breast muscle fiber area,respectively.It was concluded that the SID Lys requirements for broilers at the age of 10 to 21 d depended on the response variables used for estimation,and that histochemical characteristics of breast muscle fibers could be good indicators for estimating SID Lys requirements.

使用由甲酸铜颗粒组成的预制块,在250~350℃于空气中用压力辅助烧结法制备耐高温的黏结层。烧结过程中,甲酸铜在210℃发生热解,同时生成H2和CO,且去除铜块体表面的天然氧化物和其他生成的氧化物,形成界面结合。而且,原位还原Cu(Ⅱ)生成的Cu加速烧结连接。在300~350℃和5 MPa压力下烧结180~300 s后得到的黏结层具有足够的剪切强度:20.0~31.5 MPa。此外,在250℃条件下,当压力增加到10 MPa时,在极短的时间(30 s)内,剪切强度达到21.9 MPa,300 s后形成接近全致密的黏结层。因此,甲酸铜颗粒预制块在高速烧结连接中具有广阔的应用前景。
