Flexible copper clad laminates(FCCLs) were fabricated using the electro-plating process and the combined effect of the current density and plating time on their surface morphology,texture,hardness,electrical resistivity and folding behavior was *** achieve Cu layers with similar thicknesses,the current density was varied in the range of 0.2-3 A/dm2 and the plating time was controlled in the range of 0.5-7.5 h to compensate for the variation of the current *** surface morphology,hardness,and folding behavior were characterized by atomic force microscopy,nanoindentation technique and Massachusett Institute of Technology folding endurance test,*** X-ray diffraction patterns indicated that the Cu phase was formed without any secondary phases;however,the preferred orientation changed from(220) to(111) as the current density increased over 1 A/*** addition,it was observed that the root-mean-square and hardness values decreased when the current density increased and the plating time decreased *** electrical resistivity was as low as approximately 21 nΩ·m and the number of cycles without failure in the folding test was over 15 000,which were comparable to those of commercial FCCLs.

Electrical conductivity(EC)of soil-water extracts is commonly used to assess soil ***,its conversion to the EC of saturated soil paste extracts(ECe),the standard measure of soil salinity,is currently required for practical *** many regression models can be used to obtain ECe from the EC of soil-water extracts,the application of a site-specific model to different sites is not straightforward due to confounding soil factors such as soil *** study was conducted to develop a universal regression model to estimate a conversion factor(CF)for predicting EC_(e) from EC of soil-water extracts at a 1:5 ratio(EC_(1:5)),by employing a site-specific soil texture(i.e.,sand content).A regression model,CF=8.9105e^(0.0106sand)/1.2984(r^(2)=0.97,P<0.001),was developed based on the results of coastal saline soil surveys(n=173)and laboratory experiments using artificial saline soils with different textures(n=6,sand content=10%-65%)and salinity levels(n=7,salinity=1-24 dS m^(-1)).Model performance was validated using an independent dataset and demonstrated that EC_(e) prediction using the developed model is more suitable for highly saline soils than for low saline *** feasibility of the regression model should be tested at other *** soil factors affecting EC conversion factor also need to be explored to revise and improve the model through further studies.

YBa2Cu3O7-x(YBCO) films were fabricated on an LAO substrate using the trifluoroacetic acid-metal organic deposition(TFA-MOD) method and the effects of the humidity and heat treatment temperatures on the microstructure,degree of texture and critical properties of the films were *** order to understand the combined effects of the humidity and the calcining and firing temperatures on critical properties,heat-treatment was performed at various temperatures with the other processing variables *** films were calcined at 400-430 ℃ and fired at 750-800 ℃ in a 0-12.1% humidified Ar-O2 *** texture was determined by pole-figure *** amount of the BaF2 phase was effectively reduced and a sharp and strong biaxial texture was formed under a humidified atmosphere,which led to increased critical *** addition,the microstructure varied significantly with firing temperature but changed little with calcining *** highest IC of 40 A/cm-width,which corresponds to JC value of 1.8 MA/cm2,was obtained for the films fired at 775 ℃(in 12.1% humidity) after calcining at 400-430 ℃.It is likely that the highest IC value is due to the formation of a more pure YBCO phase,c-axis grains,and a denser microstructure.

Gynostemma(G.) pentaphyllum(Cucurbitaceae) contains various bioactive gypenosides. Ethanol extract from G. pentaphyllum(GP-EX) has been shown to have ameliorative effects on the death of dopaminergic neurons in animal models of parkinson’s disease(PD) induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine-and 6-hydroxydopamine. PD patients exhibit multiple symptoms, so PD-related research should combine neurotoxin models with genetic models. In the present study, we investigated the ameliorative effects of GP-EX, including gypenosides, on the cell death of dopaminergic neurons in the midbrain of A53 T α-synuclein transgenic mouse models of PD(A53 T). Both GP-EX and gypenosides at 50 mg/kg per day were orally administered to the A53 T mice for 20 weeks.α-Synuclein-immunopositive cells and α-synuclein phosphorylation were increased in the midbrain of A53 T mice, which was reduced following treatment with GP-EX. Treatment with GP-EX modulated the reduced phosphorylation of tyrosine hydroxylase, extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK1/2), Bcl-2-associated death promoter(Bad) at Ser112, and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK1/2) due to α-synuclein overexpression. In the A53 T group, GP-EX treatment prolonged the latency of the step-through passive avoidance test and shortened the transfer latency of the elevated plus maze test. Gypenosides treatment exhibited the effects and efficacy similar to those of GP-EX. Taken together, GP-EX, including gypenosides, has ameliorative effects on dopaminergic neuronal cell death due to the overexpression of α-synuclein by modulating ERK1/2, Bad at Ser112, and JNK1/2 signaling in the midbrain of A53 T mouse model of PD. Further studies are needed to investigate GP-EX as a treatment for neurodegenerative synucleinopathies, including PD. This study was approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of Chungbuk National University(approval No. CBNUA-956-16-01) on September 21, 2016.

In this study,different molecular weight(MW)carboxymethyl chitosans(CM-chitosan)nanoparticles were prepared by ionic *** particle size of nanoparticles was around 180–250 nm by dynamic light scattering(DLS)and transmission electron microscope(TEM).With the increase of CM-chitosan nanoparticles concentration from 2 to 200μg/mL,the growth inhibition effects on the keloid fibroblast *** the concentration of 100μg/mL,CM-chitosan nanoparticles withMW6.3 kDa had a significant inhibitory effect(inhibition ratio 48.79%)of the proliferation of keloid *** with CM-chitosan solution,the inhibition of CM-chitosan nanoparticles were lower in prior period and similar in later *** analyzing the different effects of chitosan,CM-chitosan solution and CM-chitosan nanoparticles on proliferation of keloid fibroblast,we have found that the carboxylmethyl groups of CM-chitosan play an important role in inhibition of proliferation of keloid fibroblast.

A case of successful survival from ventricular free wall micro-rupture without surgery

Different molecular weight (MW) chitosans (5. 5×104 to 15. 5×104 Da) with the same degree of deacetylation (80% G0.29), were obtained by the method of acetic acid hydrolysis. The effect of antimicrobial activities of chitosan and acetic acid against Escherichia coli were investigated. All of the chitosan samples with MW from 5. 5×104 to 15. 5×104 Da had antimicrobial activities at the concentrations higher than 200 ppm. The growth of E. coli was promoted at concentration lower than 200 ppm. The antibacterial activity of chitosan had relationship to the MW at the concentration range from 50 to 100 ppm. The antibacterial activity of low MW chitosan is higher than that of the high MW samples. But the chitosan sample with the middle MW (9. 0×104 Da) could promote the growth of bacteria. In the different stages of cultivation, the earlier chitosan was added the greater effect it did. And the mechanism of antibacterial activity was that E. coli was flocculated.

We report a case of successful survival from ventricular free wall rupture without surgery, which was not overt rupture but micro-rupture. The patient was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Myocardial blood leakage could be detected on transthoracic echocardiography with intravenous infusion of contrast dye 3 days after PCI. This examination revealed that there was not overt perforation but diffuse fissure. Because of his critical condition, he was treated conservatively without surgery. Nevertheless, he survived eventually.

The effects of pre-existing {10–12} extension twins on the precipitation behavior of an extruded AZ80 material during aging and on its mechanical properties after peak aging are investigated. The material containing {10–12} twins-which are formed by compression before aging(twinned material)-has a finer grain size and higher dislocation density than the extruded material. Although the peak hardnesses of the twinned and extruded materials are almost the same, the time to reach the peak hardness is considerably shorter in the former material than in the latter(4 h and 24 h, respectively). In the twinned material, the high dislocation density of the {10–12} twins promotes continuous precipitation, which results in the formation of numerous fine Mg17Al12precipitates within the twins in the early stage of *** formation of these continuous precipitates reduces the driving force for discontinuous precipitation, which consequently suppresses the formation and growth of coarse Mg17Al12precipitates at the grain boundaries. Despite its shorter peak-aging time, the 4 h-peak-aged twinned material shows higher tensile strength and elongation than the 24 h-peak-aged extruded material. These higher mechanical properties of the former material are attributed primarily to the presence of more abundant fine continuous precipitates, which are effective in strengthening the material, and less abundant coarse discontinuous precipitates, which can act as crack initiation sites. These results demonstrate that the introduction of {10–12} twins into wrought Mg–Al-based alloys can accelerate the Mg17Al12precipitation kinetics considerably and improve the strength and ductility of the peak-aged alloys simultaneously.
