Background:Apolipoprotein B mRNA editing catalytic polypeptide(APOBEC),an endogenous mutator,induces DNA damage and activates the ataxia telangiectasia and Rad3-related(ATR)-checkpoint kinase 1(Chk1)*** cisplatin-based therapy is the mainstay for muscle-invasive bladder cancer(MIBC),it has a poor survival ***,this study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of an ATR inhibitor combined with cisplatin in the treatment of APOBEC catalytic subunit 3B(APOBEC3B)expressing ***:Immunohistochemical staining was performed to analyze an association between APOBEC3B and ATR in patients with *** APOBEC3B expression in MIBC cell lines was assessed using real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot *** blot analysis was performed to confirm differences in phosphorylated Chk1(pChk1)expression according to the APOBEC3B *** viability and apoptosis analyses were performed to examine the anti-tumor activity of ATR inhibitors combined with ***:There was a significant association between APOBEC3B and ATR expression in the tumor tissues obtained from patients with *** with higher APOBEC3B expression showed higher pChk1 expression than cells expressing low APOBEC3B *** treatment of ATR inhibitor and cisplatin inhibited cell growth in MIBC cells with a higher APOBEC3B *** to cisplatin single treatment,combination treatment induced more apoptotic cell death in the cells with higher APOBEC3B ***:Our study shows that APOBEC3B’s higher expression status can enhance the sensitivity of MIBC to cisplatin upon ATR *** result provides new insight into appropriate patient selection for the effective application of ATR inhibitors in MIBC.

Primary adenocarcinoma of the appendix is a rare malignancy that constitutes 〈 0.5% of all gastrointestinal neoplasms. Moreover, primary signet ring cell carc noma of the appendix is an exceedingly rare entity. We have encountered 15 cases of primary appendiceal cancer among 3389 patients who underwent appen- dectomy over the past 18 years. In the present report, we describe a rare case of primary signet ring cell carcinoma of the appendix with ovarian metastases and unresectable peritoneal dissemination occurring in a 67-year-old female patient. She underwent ap- pendectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy with a laparoscopy procedure. She then received palliative systemic chemotherapy with 12 cycles of oxaliplatin, 5-flurorouracil, and leucovorin （FOIFOX-4）. The patient currently is well without progression of disease 12 mo after beginning chemotherapy.

Background:Although craniospinal irradiation (CSI) of 2340 cGy plus tumor booster with chemotherapy have been established as a standard treatment of childhood average-risk (AvR) medulloblastoma (MBL) in Western counties,there are a few recent reports in outcomes ofAvR MBL using this strategy in Korean and other Asian *** investigated the outcome of the Korean children with AvR MBL who were treated with CSI <2500 cGy and ***:Between January 2001 and December 2010,clinical characteristics and outcomes of 42 patients who were diagnosed with AvR MBL postoperatively and treated with radiation including CSI <2500 cGy and chemotherapy in Seoul National University Children's Hospital were ***:Their median age was 9 years (range:3-18.8),and 29 were *** subtypes were classic type in 28 patients,nodular/desmoplastic in 7,and large cell/anaplastic (LCA) in *** the patients received adjuvant radiotherapy (CSI with median 2340 cGy and booster) and multiagent chemotherapy as the first-fine *** a median follow-up of 54 months,12 patients experienced relapse or progression of the *** 3-and 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) rates were 78.0%±6.5% and 75.0%±6.9%,respectively,and overall survival (OS) rates were 85.3%±5.6% and 76.8%±6.9%,*** LCA subtype was associated with poorer DFS (P=0.023) and OS (P=0.008),compared with non-LCA ***:The outcomes of children and adolescents with AvR MBL treated with radiation including CSI <2500 cGy and chemotherapy,are compatible to those in Western countries;however,the LCA subtype has a poor outcome with this strategy.

Boosted Lithium-Ion Transport Kinetics in n-Type Siloxene Anodes Enabled by Selective Nucleophilic Substitution of Phosphorus

Doped two-dimensional(2D)materials hold significant promise for advancing many technologies,such as microelectronics,optoelectronics,and energy ***,n-type 2D oxidized Si nanosheets,namely n-type siloxene(n-SX),are employed as Li-ion battery *** thermal evaporation of sodium hypophosphite at 275℃,P atoms are effectively incorporated into siloxene(SX)without compromising its 2D layered morphology and unique Kautsky-type crystal ***,selective nucleophilic substitution occurs,with only Si atoms being replaced by P atoms in the O_(3)≡Si-H *** resulting n-SX possesses two delocalized electrons arising from the presence of two electron donor types:(i)P atoms residing in Si sites and(ii)H *** doping concentrations are varied by controlling the amount of precursors or their mean free *** at 2000 mA g^(-1),the n-SX electrode with the optimized doping concentration(6.7×10^(19) atoms cm^(-3))delivers a capacity of 594 mAh g^(-1) with a 73%capacity retention after 500 *** improvements originate from the enhanced kinetics of charge transport processes,including electronic conduction,charge transfer,and solid-state *** approach proposed herein offers an unprecedented route for engineering SX anodes to boost Li-ion storage.

Numerical modeling of fracture propagation of supercritical CO_(2)compound fracturing

The exploitation of shale gas is promising due to depletion of the conventional energy and intensification of the greenhouse *** this paper,we proposed a heat-fluid-solid coupling damage model of supercritical CO_(2)(SC-CO_(2))compound fracturing which is expected to be an efficient and environmentally friendly way to develop shale *** coupling model is solved by the finite element method,and the results are in good agreement with the analytical solutions and fracturing *** on this model,the fracture propagation characteristics at the two stages of compound fracturing are studied and the influence of pressurization rate,in situ stress,bedding angle,and other factors are *** results show that at the SC-CO_(2)fracturing stage,a lower pressurization rate is conducive to formation of the branches around main fractures,while a higher pressurization rate inhibits formation of the branches around main fractures and promotes formation of the main *** bedding and in situ stress play a dominant role in the fracture *** the in situ stress ratio(δ_(x)/δ_(y))is 1,the presence of bedding can reduce the initiation pressure and failure ***,it will cause the fracture to propagate along the bedding direction,reducing the fracture *** rocks without bedding,hydraulic fracturing has the lengthening and widening effects for SC-CO_(2)induced *** shale,fractures induced at the hydraulic fracturing stage are more likely to be dominated by in situ stresses and have a shorter reorientation ***,fracture branches propagating along the maximum principal stress direction may be generated around the main fractures induced by SC-CO_(2)at the hydraulic fracturing *** the branches converge with the main fractures,fracture zones are easily formed,and thus the fracture complexity and damage area can be significantly *** results are instructive for the design and application of SC
