Fermented rice bran prevents atopic dermatitis in DNCB-treated NC/Nga mice

The fermentation of natural plants has a favorable effect on the functional and biological activities of living systems. These include anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-platelet aggregation activities. This is attributed to the chemical conversion of the parent plants to functional constituents, which show more potent biological activity. In our study, rice bran along with oriental medicinal plants （Angelicae gigantis, Cnidium officinale, Artemisia princeps, and Camellia sinensis） was fermented by Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Pichia deserticola （FRBE）. We evaluated the effects of oral administration of FRBE on atopic dermatitis in 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene （DNCB）-treated NC/Nga mice. FRBE significantly ameliorated the macroscopic and microscopic appearance of skin lesions in DNCB-induced atopic dermatitis and reduced levels of serum immunoglobulin E and the differential white blood cell count. In addition, it reduced skin thickness compared to that of atopic dermatitis-affected skin. FRBE treatment also reduced mast cell incorporation in skin lesions of atopic dermatitis. The total cell number in dorsal skin tissue and the axillary lymph node increased following DNCB application, and this was normalized by FRBE treatment. Moreover, it decreased the levels ofCD8＋ helper T cells and Gr-1 ＋/CD1 lb＋ B cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and skin lesions in DNCB-induced atopic dermatitis. Using real-time polymerase chain reaction analysis, we demonstrated that FRBE significantly inhibited mRNA expression of cytokines （e.g., interleukin-5 and interleukin-13） and cyclooxygenase-2 in AD skin lesions. These results suggest that FRBE could be a valuable herbal remedy for the treatment of atopic dermatitis.

This work aimed to investigate the synergetic therapeutic effects of polydeoxyribonucleotides(PDRN)combined with extracorporeal shock waves therapy(ESWT)and the effects of the therapy according to ESWT sequences on a chronic traumatic full-thickness rotator cuff tear(RCT)in rabbit *** this purpose,thirty-two rabbits were randomly allocated into 4 *** excision was made to create a 5-mm sized full-thickness RCT right proximal to the insertion site on the *** 6 weeks,4 different procedures(normal saline,Group 1;PDRN injection,Group 2;PDRN injection before ESWT,Group 3;PDRN injection after ESWT,Group 4)were *** injection and radial type ESWT were each performed 4 times per *** morphology,Immunohistochemistry,and motion analysis were performed at 4 weeks after *** parameters including tear size,Masson’s trichrome(MT)staining,anti-collagen 1 monoclonal antibody immunostaining(COL-1),proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),anti-platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 polyclonal antibody(PECAM-1),and motion analysis,were significantly greater in Group 2,Group 3,and Group 4 than in Group *** Group 4,all parameters were significantly greater than in Group 2,and parameters including MT staining,COL-1,PCNA,PECAM-1,and fast walking time were significantly greater than Group *** were no significant differences between Group 2 and Group *** study demonstrated that PDRN injection alone and combined with ESWT were more effective than control treatment and applying ESWT before PDRN injection was also shown to yield better outcomes in parameters including angiogenesis,cell proliferation,and fast walking time in a rabbit model with chronic traumatic full-thickness ***,the application of ESWT before PDRN injection could be recommended for optimal outcomes of the conservative treatments when the patients with full-thickness RCT are not suitable in surgical treatment

Epigenetic changes of DNA, including methylation, have long been recognized as key indicators of various diseases, including aging, cancer, and neurological disorders. Biomarker discoveries based on distinct methylation patterns for both hypermethylation and hypomethylation lead the way in discovery of novel diagnosis and treatment targets. Many different approaches are present to detect the level of methylation in whole genome (whole genome bisulfite sequencing, microarray) as well as at specific loci (methylation specific PCR). Cell-free DNA (cf-DNA) found in body fluids like blood provides information about DNA methylation and serves as a less invasive approach for genetic screening. Cell-free DNA and methylation screening technologies, when combined, have the potential to transform the way we approach genetic screening and personalized therapy. These technologies can help enhance disease diagnostic accuracy and inform the development of targeted therapeutics by providing a non-invasive way for acquiring genomic information and identifying disease-associated methylation patterns. We highlight the clinical benefits of using cell-free DNA (cf-DNA) liquid biopsy analysis and available methylation screening technologies that have been crucial in identifying biomarkers for disease from patients using a non-invasive way. Powering such biomarker discoveries are various methods of cf-DNA methylation analysis such as Bisulfite Sequencing and most recently, Methylation-Specific Restriction Enzyme (MSRE-seq) Analysis, paving the way for novel epigenetic biomarker discoveries for more robust diagnosis such as early disease detection, prognosis, monitoring of disease progression and treatment response as well as discovery of novel drug targets.

Clinical analysis of risk factors contributing to recurrence of pterygium after excision and graft surgery

AIM: To find the risk factors related to the reproliferation of the pterygial tissue after excision and graft ***: Charts of 130 eyes of 130 patients who had pterygial excision from March 2006 to April 2011 were reviewed. Preoperative pterygium morphology, surgical methods, and adjunctive treatments were statistically analyzed for their relationship with ***: During the follow-up period, recurrence was observed in 20 eyes(15.4%). None of the preoperative morphologic features were affected the rate of the recurrence. However, an age <40y [P =0.085, odds ratio(OR) 3.609, 95% confidence interval(CI) 0.838-15.540]and amniotic membrane graft instead of conjunctival autograft(P =0.002, OR 9.093, 95% CI 2.316-35.698) were statistically significant risk factors for *** analysis revealed that intraoperative mitomycin C(MMC)(P =0.072, OR 0.298, 95% CI 0.080-1.115)decreased the rate of recurrence. CONCLUSION: Younger age is a risk factor for reproliferation of pterygial tissue after excision and amniotic membrane transplantation(AMT) are less effective in preventing recurrence of pterygium after excision based on the comparison between conjunctival autograft and AMT. Intraoperative MMC application and conjunctival autograft reduce recurrence.

In this study,newly harvested and aged rice seeds were analyzed to determine their aging process,identify the difference between artificially and naturally aged seeds,and develop a rapid,accurate,and non-destructive detection method for water status and water distribution of rice seed with different *** this end,an artificially accelerated aging test was conducted on the newly harvested rice ***,low-field nuclear magnetic resonance(LF-NMR)technology was applied to test the new(Shennong No.9816,2018),old(Shennong No.9816,2017),and artificially aged seeds(Shennong No.9816,2018).A standard germination test was conducted for three types of ***,the differences of water status and distribution between rice seeds of different vigor were analyzed based on the standard germination test results and wave spectrometry information collected using *** results indicated that new seeds,old seeds,and the artificially accelerated aging rice seeds all exhibited two water phases,and the vigor of rice seeds after the artificial accelerated aging test was lower than that of new *** were significant differences between the frequencies of bound water at the time of the peak and the time at the end of the peak for the three types of *** two times showed an increasing trend for rice seeds with poor vigor,indicating that the ability of the water in the rice seeds having poor vigor to combine with other substances was *** were significant differences between the distributions of free water peak end time for the three types of *** the rice seeds with poor vigor exhibited a decreasing trend at this time,indicating that the freedom of free water inside the rice seed samples with poor vigor was *** total water content of the artificially aged seeds and the aged seeds was higher than that of the new seeds,but the free water content increased from artificially aged seeds to new seeds to aged *** indicates that LF-NMR technol

利用宽频带流动台站(YSBSN)记录的远震波形数据和远震接收函数方法,反演了黄海东、西两侧地壳上地幔的S波速度结构.结果表明,莫霍面深度在30～38 km之间变化,位于中方一侧的JNN台下方地壳厚度最大,可以归因于华北板块和扬子板块的碰撞;韩方一侧的地壳厚度自北向南逐渐变厚,但仍然难以厘定朝鲜半岛南部潜在碰撞带的位置,这些问题的解决需要更大范围的流动台站观测.由于部分台站位于巨厚的沉积层和多孔的火山岩之上,与浅部构造的相关性使得接收函数表现出较大振幅的混响,从而影响了来自深部结构的转换震相.

Oriented attachment can be used as a good synthetic route to make highly anisotropic nanostructures including nanorod,nanowire,nanoplate,and *** a typical growth of anisotropic nanostructures,coalescence and reshaping after attachment make dense *** this report,we show the formation of Ag sheets having fractal network by oriented attachment at low reaction temperature of 30℃.The synthesized Ag sheets exhibited good crystalline nature despite of their network structure and low synthetic *** also investigated the effect of reaction conditions for the formation of the Ag *** addition,using the Ag sheets as a sacrificial template,we could make hollow Au sheets via galvanic replacement.
