structural health monitoring of RC structures under seismic loads has recently attracted much attention in the earthquake engineering research community. In this study, a piezoceramic-based device called ＂smart aggregate＂ was used for the health monitoring of RC frame structures under earthquake excitations. Three RC moment frames instrumented with smart aggregates were tested using a shaketable with different ground excitation intensities. Distributed piezoceramic- based smart aggregates were embedded in the RC structures and used to monitor their health condition during the tests. The sensitivity and effectiveness of the proposed piezoceramic-based approach were investigated and evaluated by analyzing the measured responses. The displacement ductility demand of the structural members was calculated and compared with the damage index determined from the health monitoring system. The comparison shows that the damage index is compatible with the calculated ductility demand.

Wounds, characterized by the disruption of the continuity of body tissues resulting from external trauma,manifest in diverse types and locations. Although numerous wound dressings are available for various woundscenarios, it remains challenging to find an integrative wound dressing capable of addressing diverse woundsituations. We focused on utilizing sulfated hyaluronan (sHA), known for its anti-inflammatory properties andcapacity to load cationic drugs. By conjugating catechol groups to sHA (sHA-CA), we achieved several advantagesin wound healing: 1) Fabrication of patches through crosslinking with catechol-modified high-molecularweighthyaluronan (HA(HMW)-CA), 2) Adhesiveness that enabled stable localization, 3) Radical scavenging thatcould synergize with the immunomodulation of sHA. The sHA-CA patches demonstrated therapeutic efficacy inthree distinct murine wound models: diabetic wound, hepatic hemorrhage, and post-surgical adhesion. Collectively,these findings underscore the potential of the sHA-CA patch as a promising candidate for the nextgenerationwound dressing.

A new spherical torus called VEsT （Versatile Experiment spherical Torus） is designed, constructed and successfully commissioned at seoul National University. A unique design feature of the VEsT is two partial solenoid coils installed at both vertical ends of a center stack, which can provide sufficient magnetic fluxes to initiate tokamak plasmas while keeping a low aspect ratio configuration in the central region. According to initial double null merging start-up scenario using the partial solenoid coils, apprdpriate p6wer supplies for driving a toroidal field coil, outer poloidal field coils, and the partial solenoid Coils are fabricated and successfully commissioned. For reliable start-up, a pre-ionization system with two cost-effective homemade magnetron power supplies is also prepared. In addition, magnetic and spectroscopic diagnostics with appropriate data acquisition and control systems are well prepared for initial operation of the device. The VEsT is ready for tokamak plasma operation by completing and commissioning most of the designed components.

Osteochondral tissue is a highly specialized and complex tissue composed of articular cartilage and subchondral bone that are separated by a calcified cartilage *** or gradient scaffolds,often in conjunction with stem cells and growth factors,have been developed to mimic the respective layers for osteochondral defect *** this study,we designed a hyaline cartilage-hypertrophic cartilage bilayer graft(RGD/RGDW)with ***,we demonstrated that RGD peptide-modified chondroitin sulfate cryogel(RGD group)is chondro-conductive and capable of hyaline cartilage ***,we incorporated whitlockite(WH),a Mg2+-containing calcium phosphate,into RGD cryogel(RGDW group)to induce chondrocyte hypertrophy and form collagen X-rich hypertrophic *** is the first study to use WH to produce hypertrophic ***-laden RGDW cryogel exhibited significantly upregulated expression of hypertrophy markers in vitro and formed ectopic hypertrophic cartilage in vivo,which mineralized into calcified cartilage in bone ***,RGD cryogel and RGDW cryogel were combined into bilayer(RGD/RGDW group)and implanted into rabbit osteochondral defect,where RGD layer supports hyaline cartilage regeneration and bioceramic-containing RGDW layer promotes calcified cartilage *** the RGD group(monolayer)formed hyaline-like neotissue that extends into the subchondral bone,the RGD/RGDW group(bilayer)regenerated hyaline cartilage tissue confined to its respective layer and promoted osseointegration for integrative defect repair.

BACKGROUND Only one case of liver transplantation for hepatic adenoma has previously been reported for patients with rupture and uncontrolled *** present the case of a massive ruptured hepatic adenoma with persistent hemorrhagic shock and toxic liver syndrome which resulted in a two-stage liver *** is the first case of a two-stage liver transplantation performed for a ruptured hepatic *** sUMMARY A 23 years old African American female with a history of pre-diabetes and oral contraceptive presented to an outside facility complaining of right-sided chest pain and emesis for one *** was found to be in hemorrhagic shock due to a massive ruptured hepatic hepatic *** underwent repeated embolizations with interventional radiology with ongoing hemorrhage and the development of renal failure,hepatic failure,and hemodynamic instability,known as toxic liver *** the setting of uncontrolled hemorrhage and toxic liver syndrome,a hepatectomy with porto-caval anastomosis was performed with liver transplantation 15 h *** tolerated the anhepatic stage well,and has done well over one year *** When toxic liver syndrome is recognized,liver transplantation with or withouthepatectomy should be considered before the patient becomes unstable.

The aim of this research is to study the optimal economic dispatch （ED） through Cat swarm Optimization （CsO） algorithm. Many areas in power systems require solving one or more nonlinear optimization problems. While analytical methods might suffer from slow convergence and the CsO can, therefore, be effectively applied to different optimization problems. In this paper, the CsO is also extended to coordinate wind and thermal dispatch and to minimize total generation cost. Results indicated that the CsO is superior to PsO in the fast convergence and better performance to find the global best solution.

We estimate the parameters of a Cu plasma generated by an X-pinch by comparing experimentally measured x-rays with synthetic data.A filtered absolute extreme ultraviolet diode array is used to measure time-resolved x-ray spectra with a spectral resolution of∼1 keV in the energy range of 1–10 *** synthetic spectra of Cu plasmas with different electron temperatures,electron densities,and fast electron fractions are calculated using the FLYCHK *** quantitative comparison with the measured spectrum,two x-ray power ratios with three different spectral ranges are *** observe three x-ray bursts in X-pinch experiments with two Cu wires conducted on the sNU X-pinch at a current rise rate of∼0.2 kA/*** of the spectra reveals that the first burst comprises x-rays emitted by hot spots and electron beams,with characteristics similar to those observed in other *** second and third bursts are both generated by longlived electron beams formed after the neck structure has been completely *** the second burst,the formation of the electron beam is accompanied by an increase in the electron density of the background ***,the long-lived electron beams generate the additional strong x-ray bursts while maintaining a plasma channel in the central region of the ***,they emit many hard x-rays(HXRs),enabling the sNU X-pinch to be used as an HXR *** study confirms that the generation of long-lived electron beams is crucial to the dynamics of X-pinches and the generation of strong HXRs.
