Poly（3-hexylthiophene）（P3HT） has received much attention as a good candidate to replace inorganic semiconductors for flexible electronics due to its solution-processability. However, the low charge mobility of P3HT is an obstacle to its commercialization. To overcome this problem, we propose a new non-covalent functionalization method for carbon nanotubes （CNTs） for use in CNT/P3HT nanocomposites. By using modified pyrene molecules with hydrophobic long alkyl chains, the non-covalently functionalized CNTs can become well dispersed in hydrophobic solutions and organic semiconductor matrices. Fabrication of organic thin-film transistors （OTFTs） from the non-covalently functionalized CNT/organic semiconductor nanocomposites shows that our non-covalent functionalization method significantly reduces damage to CNTs during functionalization when compared with covalent functionalization by treatment with acids. The OTFTs show 15 times enhancement of field effect mobility （1.5 × 10^-2 cm^2/（V.s）） compared to the mobility of OTFTs made from pure P3HT. This enhancement is achieved by addition of only 0.25 wt% of CNTs to P3HT.

Laser assisted machining （LAM） has difficulties in estimating temperature after applying a LAM process due to its very small heat input area, large energy and movement. In particular, in the case of laser assisted turning （LAT） process, it is more difficult to estimate the temperature after preheating because it has a shape of ellipse when a laser heat source is rotated. A prediction method and thermal analysis method for heat source shapes were proposed as a square shaped member was preheated. The temperature distribution was calculated according to the rotation of the member. Compared with the results of the former study, the maximum temperature of the calculation results, 1 407.1 ℃, is 8.5 ℃ higher than that of the square member, which is 1 398.6 ℃. In a LAT process for a square member, the maximum temperature is 1 850.8 ℃. It is recognized that a laser power control process is required because square members show a maximum temperature that exceeds a melting temperature at around a vertex of the member according to the rotation.

BACKGROUND This report describes and discusses recurrent intramuscular lipoma(IML)of the extensor pollicis brevis(EPB).An IML usually occurs in a large muscle of the limb or *** of IML is *** IMLs,especially those with unclear boundaries,necessitate complete *** cases of IML in the hand have been ***,recurrent IML appearing along the muscle and tendon of EPB on wrist and forearm has not been reported *** SUMMARY In this report,the authors describe clinical and histopathological features of recurrent IML at EPB.A 42-year-old Asian woman presented with a slowgrowing lump in her right forearm and wrist area six months *** patient had a history of surgery for a lipoma of the right forearm one year ago with a scar of 6cm on the right *** resonance imaging confirmed that the lipomatous mass,which had attenuation similar to subcutaneous fat,had invaded the muscle layer of *** and biopsy were performed under general *** histological examination,it was identified as an IML showing mature adipocytes and skeletal muscle ***,surgery was terminated without further *** recurrence occurred during a follow-up of five years after *** Recurrent IML in the wrist must be examined to differentiate it from *** to surrounding tissues should be minimized during excision.

Mucormycosis is an uncommon opportunistic fungal infection with high mortality in liver transplant recipients. Mucormycosis of the gastrointestinal tract can manifest with features similar to ischemic colitis. Typically signs and symptoms of non-gangrenous ischemic colitis resolve spontaneously within 24-48 h. On the other hand, the clinical course of the mucormycosis is commonly fulminant. We encountered a case of invasive fungal colitis presenting with abdominal pain and hematochezia in a liver transplant recipient. Endoscopic examination showed multiple shallow ulcerations and edema with mucosal friabilities on the sigmoid and distal descending colon, which was consistent with ischemic colitis. However, the histological examination obtained from endoscopic biopsies showed fungal hyphae withsurrounding inflammatory cells and mucosal necrosis. The patient was successfully managed with antifungal agent without surgical treatment. Thus, early diagnosis and treatment is essential for improving the prognosis of invasive fungal infection after liver transplantation.

Characterization of recycled crumb rubber modified binders containing wax warm additives

This paper addresses the laboratory experiment of performance properties of recycled CRM binders containing artificially aged CRM binders with wax additives. The warm CRM binders were produced using two wax additives （LEADCAP and Sasobit） and then shortterm and long-term aged using the rolling thin film oven （RTFO） and pressure aging vessel （PAV） procedures. The recycled CRM binders were aged through the RTFO and PAV pro- cedures. A set of Superpave binder tests were carried out on the binders through the rotational viscometer, the dynamic shear rheometer （DSR）, and the bending beam rheometer （BBR）. In general, the results of this study indicated that （1） the addition of longterm aged （LTA） CRM binder can significantly increase the viscosity of the recycled CRM binders as expected, （2） the wax additives in recycled CRM binders were still effective to improve the viscosity and rutting properties even after experiencing the aging process, （3） the CRM binders containing wax additives showed the higher rutting resistance compared to the control CRM binders, （4） the recycled CRM binder containing wax additives was found to have less resistance to fatigue and low temperature cracking, （5） wax warm additives into the recycled CRM binders seemed to have a significant role for cracking properties, based upon their substantial amount.

BACKGROUND Recently,the exclusive use of mesenchymal stem cell(MSC)-secreted molecules,called secretome,rather than cells,has been evaluated for overcoming the limitations of cell-based therapy,while maintaining its ***,the use of na?ve secretome may not fully satisfy the specificity of each ***,it appears to be more advantageous to use the functionally reinforced secretome through a series of processes involving physico-chemical adjustments or genetic manipulation rather than to the use na?ve *** To determine the therapeutic potential of the secretome released from miR-122-transfected adipose-derived stromal cells(ASCs).METHODS We collected secretory materials released from ASCs that had been transfected with antifibrotic miR-122(MCM)and compared their antifibrotic effects with those of the na?ve secretome(CM).MCM and CM were intravenously administered to the mouse model of thioacetamide-induced liver fibrosis,and their therapeutic potentials were *** MCM infusion provided higher therapeutic potential in terms of:(A)Reducing collagen content in the liver;(B)Inhibiting proinflammatory cytokines;and(C)Reducing abnormally elevated liver enzymes than the infusion of the na?ve *** proteomic analysis of MCM also indicated that the contents of antifibrotic proteins were significantly elevated compared to those in the na?ve *** We could,thus,conclude that the secretome released from miR-122-transfected ASCs has higher antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory properties than the na?ve *** miR-122 transfection into ASCs provides a specific way of potentiating the antifibrotic properties of ASC secretome,it could be considered as an enhanced method for reinforcing secretome effectiveness.

The removal of As（III） and As（V） from aqueous solution was investigated using waste cast iron, which is a byproduct of the iron casting process in foundries. Two types of waste cast iron were used in the experiment： grind precipitate dust （GPD） and cast iron shot （CIS）. The X-ray diffraction analysis indicated the presence of Fe~ on GPD and CIS. Batch experiments were performed under different concentrations of As（III） and As（V） and at various initial pH levels. Results showed that waste cast iron was effective in the removal of arsenic. The adsorption isotherm study indicated that the Langmuir isotherm was better than the Freundlich isotherm at describing the experimental result. In the adsorption of both As（III） and As（V）, the adsorption capacity of GPD was greater than CIS, mainly due to the fact that GPD had higher surface area and weight percent of Fe than CIS. Results also indicated the removal of As（III） and As（V） by GPD and CIS was influenced by the initial solution pH, generally decreasing with increasing pH from 3.0 to 10.5. In addition, both GPD and CIS were more effective at the removal of As（III） than As（V） under given experimental conditions. This study demonstrates that waste cast iron has potential as a reactive material to treat wastewater and groundwater containing arsenic.

Acupuncture Alters Pro-inflammatory Cytokines in the Plasma of Maternally Separated Rat Pups

Objective: To investigate the potential alleviating effects of acupuncture on maternal separation(MS)-induced changes in plasma pro-inflammatory cytokine levels of rat pups. Methods: On postnatal day 15, rat pups were randomly assigned to 4 groups(n=6 per group) using a random number table: normal, MS, MS with acupuncture stimulation at Shenmen(HT 7) acupoint(MS+HT 7), and MS with acupuncture stimulation at Chengshan(BL 57) acupoint(MS+BL 57) groups. Rat pups in the normal group were housed with their mothers under standard conditions; those in the MS, MS+HT 7 and MS+BL 57 groups were maternally separated and individually maintained. Acupuncture stimulation was performed at HT 7 or BL 57 acupoints once a day for 7 consecutive days. A tail suspension test was performed to measure immobility time of rats and the plasma was collected on postnatal day 21, then levels of corticosterone(CORT), interleukin(IL)-1β, IL-6 and glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor(GDNF) in plasma were measured. Results: Compared with the normal group, the immobility time and the plasma levels of CORT, IL-1β, IL-6 and GDNF in the MS group were significantly increased(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Compared with the MS group, the immobility time and the plasma levels of CORT, IL-1β, IL-6 and GDNF were significantly reduced in the MS+HT 7 group(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Moreover, the immobility time and plasma levels of IL-1β and IL-6 in the MS+HT 7 group were significantly lower than those in the MS+BL 57 group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture stimulation at HT 7 can alleviate the behavioral impairment and changes of the cytokines by MS, indicating that acupuncture can help to relieve MS-induced depression.

BACKGROUND Transcutaneous oxygen pressure(TcpO2)is a precise method for determining oxygen perfusion in wounded *** device uses either electrochemical or optical *** To evaluate the usefulness of TcpO2 measurements on free flaps(FFs)in diabetic foot ulcers(DFUs).METHODS TcpO2 was measured in 17 patients with DFUs who underwent anterolateral thigh(ALT)-FF surgery and compared with 30 patients with DFU without FF *** Significant differences were observed in the ankle-brachial index;duration of diabetes;and haemoglobin,creatinine,and C-reactive protein levels between the two ***2 values were similar between two groups except on postoperative days 30 and 60 when the values in the ALT-FF group remained50 *** Even if the flap is clinically stable,sympathectomy due to adventitia stripping during anastomosis and arteriovenous shunt progression due to diabetic polyneuropathy could lead to low TcpO2 values in the ALT-FF owing to its thick fat tissues,which is supported by the slow recovery of the sympathetic tone following ***,TcpO2 measurements in patients with DFU who underwent FF reconstruction may be less accurate than in those who did not.

Despite its high theoretical energy density, lithium metal faces huge challenges in its implementation as an anode for Li secondary batteries because of its uncontrollable dendritic growth and large volume change during plating/stripping processes. These geometric changes cause degradation in a cell’s cycle life and performance and can lead to short-circuits and explosions. Here, we report a new approach to producing a LiF-rich phase on the lithium anode surface by employing a “bi-phase” separator. We fabricated it by coating polyvinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene (PVDF-HFP) onto a cellulose separator. The coverage of coating was adjusted by varying its concentration in the coating solution. The combination of cellulose and PVDF-HFP produced a LiF-rich solid-electrolyte interphase layer on the Li metal surface via an alkyl halide nucleophile exchange in contact with the bi-phase separator during plating. Symmetric cell tests show that the bi-phase separator extends the cycle life by more than 300 h, with overpotentials of less than 100 mV under plating/stripping at 2 mA cm^(−2) for a capacity of 2 mAh cm^(−2). The formation mechanism of the LiF-rich phase is suggested from spectroscopic analyses.
