Background During the COVID-19 pandemic,decreased volumes of stroke admissions and mechanical thrombectomy were reported.The study’s objective was to examine whether subarachnoid haemorrhage(SAH)hospitalisations and ruptured aneurysm coiling interventions demonstrated similar declines.Methods We conducted a cross-sectional,retrospective,observational study across 6 continents,37 countries and 140 comprehensive stroke centres.Patients with the diagnosis of SAH,aneurysmal SAH,ruptured aneurysm coiling interventions and COVID-19 were identified by prospective aneurysm databases or by International Classification of Diseases,10th Revision,codes.The 3-month cumulative volume,monthly volumes for SAH hospitalisations and ruptured aneurysm coiling procedures were compared for the period before(1 year and immediately before)and during the pandemic,defined as 1 March-31 May 2020.The prior 1-year control period(1 March-31 May 2019)was obtained to account for seasonal variation.Findings There was a significant decline in SAH hospitalisations,with 2044 admissions in the 3 months immediately before and 1585 admissions during the pandemic,representing a relative decline of 22.5%(95%CI−24.3%to−20.7%,ple.Interpretation There was a relative decrease in the volume of SAH hospitalisations,aneurysmal SAH hospitalisations and ruptured aneurysm embolisations during the COVID-19 pandemic.These findings in SAH are consistent with a decrease in other emergencies,such as stroke and myocardial infarction.

The paper introduces the origin,technical features,scale,application efficiency of geographic information system(GIS)to monitor the situation and forecast the spread of foot-and-mouth disease of poultry and cattle—a technological product of Vietnam Software Academy for Water.Application of the system will help the producers and managers to quickly capture the situation of raising poultry and cattle,vaccination results in the related territory,flu outbreaks,epidemic foot-and-mouth disease,and the spread of these two dangers as they arise,resulting in appropriate decisions and solutions in order to prevent,minimize the risk effectively.

A Framework to Regionalize Flow Information in a Catchment with Limited Hydrological Data

This paper describes a framework for mapping flow information from a single gauge to the 9-ungauged river basins with distinct attributes. To establish the basic watershed characteristics at the gauged site, a hydrologic model was calibrated and validated against the historical continuous discharge dataset. The framework was then applied to account for the two watersheds’ proportionality in their similarity, such as the influence of land use on transplanting flow signatures to the ungauged site. Three land-use scenarios-discharges at the ungauged and gauged sites formed the basis of an equation mapping the gauged discharge signal to the ungauged site. In comparison with intermittent observed data, the framework prediction attained a precision of 0.85 ≥ NSE ≤ 0.95, 0.80 ≥ R2 ≤ 0.94, 0.56 ≥ bR2 ≤ 0.89. Despite considerable differences in the watershed area, slope, soils, and land cover, the framework satisfactorily depicted the variation in flow pulses at each of the 9 ungauged discharge sites. In the absence of sufficient hydrological information, for example, the presence of a single gauge, the framework provides an alternative method to estimate flow at ungauged sites, reducing uncertainties in the regionalization of model parameters.

Injury of the periodontium followed by inflammatory response often leads to mot resorption. Resorption is accomplished by osteoclasts and their generation may depend on an interaction with the cells in direct contact with the root, the cementoblasts. Our study aimed to investigate the role of human cementoblasts in the formation of osteoclasts and the effect of interleukin （IL）- 1β hereupon. Extracted teeth from healthy volunteers were subjected to sequential digestion by type I collagenase and trypsin. The effect of enzymatic digestion on the presence of cells on the root surface was analyzed by histology. Gene expression of primary human cementoblasts （pHCB） was compared with a human cementoblast cell line （HCEM）. The pHCBs were analyzed for their expression of IL-1 receptors as well as of receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand （RANKL） and osteoprotegerin （OPG）. In a co-culture system consisting of osteoclast precursors （blood monocytes） and pHCBs, the formation of osteoclasts and their resorptive activity was assessed by osteo-assay and ivory slices. The cells obtained after a 120 min enzyme digestion expressed the highest level of bone sialoprotein, similar to that of HCEM. This fraction of isolated cells also shared a similar expression pattern of IL-1 receptors （ILl-R1 and ILl-R2）. Treatment with IL-11~ potently upregulated RANKL expression but not of OPG. pHCBs were shown to induce the formation of functional osteoclasts. This capacity was significantly stimulated by pretreating the pHCBs with IL-1β prior to their co-culture with human blood monocytes. Our study demonstrated that cementoblasts have the capacity to induce osteoclastogenesis, a capacity strongly promoted by IL-1β. These results may explain why osteoclasts can be formed next to the root of teeth.

Rest Thallium-201/Stress Technetium-99m Sestamibi Dual-Isotope Myocardial Perfusion Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography in Detecting of Chronic Coronary Artery Disease

To investigate diagnostic accuracy of 2-hour protocol of rest thallium-201/stress technetium-99m sestamibi dual-isotope myocardial perfusion SPECT in chronic coronary artery disease. Sixty-seven patients with suspected CAD were enrolled in the prospective study. All patients underwent myocardial perfusion scintigraphy in SPECT with dual isotopes of Tl-201 and dipyridamole stress Tc-99m sestamibi. Rest and stress imaging protocol were performed in 2 hours by dose of 3 mCi Tl-201 and 25 mCi Tc-99m sestamibi. The acquisition parameters includes leHR collimator, energy peak of 72 and 167 keV for Tl-201 and 140 keV for Tc-99m, 180-degree rotation from RAO to LPO, matrix size 64?64, and 25second/frame/64 frames. The 20-segment model of left ventricle was used in automatic quantitation software. Coronary angiography was used as gold standard. CAD was defined as 50% of lumen stenosis on coronary angiography. Rest Tl-201/stress tc-99m sestamibi dual-isotope SPECT demonstrated a sensitivity of 94.59% and specificity of 70%, positive predictive value of 79.54% and negative predictive value of 91.3% in detection of coronary artery disease. Sensitivity and specificity for detecting multi-vessel coronary artery disease were 82.75% and 81.57% for the left anterior descending, 77.77% and 91.83% for left circumflex and 94.11% and 82% for right coronary artery. 2-hour protocol of rest thallium-201/stress technetium-99m sestamibi dual-isotope myocardial perfusion SPECT has high sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value in detecting chronic coronary artery disease with greater than 50% stenosis assessed by coronary angiography. Moreover, this imaging protocol gives high imaging quality, time-saving and convenience.

Ecological and behavioural risk factors of scrub typhus in central Vietnam:a case-control study

Background The risk factors for scrub typhus in Vietnam remain unknown.Scrub typhus caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi often presents as an undifferentiated febrile illness and remains under appreciated due to the limited availability of diagnostic tests.This tropical rickettsial illness is increasingly recognized as an important cause of non-malaria acute undifferentiated fever in Asia.This study aimed to investigate behavioural and ecological related risk factors of scrub typhus to prevent this potentially life-threatening disease in Vietnam.Methods We conducted a clinical hospital-based active surveillance study,and a retrospective residence-enrolment date-age-matched case–control study in Khanh Hoa province,Vietnam,from August 2018 to March 2020.Clinical examinations,polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay IgM tests were applied to define cases and controls.All enrolled participants filled out a questionnaire including demographic socio-economic status,personal behaviors/protective equipment,habitat connections,land use,and possible exposure to the vector.Multivariable conditional logistic regression was used to define the scrub typhus associated risk factors.Results We identified 44 confirmed cases and matched them with 152 controls.Among cases and controls,the largest age group was the 41–50 years old and males accounted for 61.4%and 42.8%,respectively.There were similarities in demographic characteristics between the two groups,with the exception of occupation.Several factors were significantly associated with acquisition of scrub typhus,including sitting/laying directly on household floor[adjusted OR(aOR)=4.9,95%CI:1.6–15.1,P=0.006],household with poor sanitation/conditions(aOR=7.9,95%CI:1.9–32.9,P=0.005),workplace environment with risk(aOR=3.0,95%CI:1.2–7.6,P=0.020),always observing mice around home(aOR=3.7,95%CI:1.4–9.9,P=0.008),and use of personal protective equipment in the field(aOR=0.4,95%CI:0.1–1.1,P=0.076).Conclusions Ecological and household hygiene-related factors were more
