Objective: To evaluate the anti-arthritic effects of Polygonatum kingianum rhizome extract using both in vitro and in vivo ***: Lipopolysaccharide-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages were treated with an ethanol extract of Polygonatum kingianum rhizomes at different concentrations to determine nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2(PGE2) production. For in vivo study, Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract was further investigated for its antiinflammatory effect in a mouse model with collagen antibodyinduced arthritis. Phytochemical study of Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract was also ***: Saponins(142 mg/g total yield) was the main component in the Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract. 5α,8α-ergosterol peroxide,(E,E)-9-oxooctadeca-10,12-dienoic acid and 3-(2?-hydroxy-4?-methoxy-benzyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-8-methyl-chroman-4-one were isolated from the extract. Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract exhibited potential anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting nitric oxide and PGE2 production in RAW 264.7 cells in a dosedependent manner. The level of arthritis in mice with collagen antibody-induced arthritis was significantly reduced(Pthanol extract, particularly at a dose of 1 000 mg/kg body weight. Besides, the extract demonstrated the regulatory effects on serum tumor necrosis factoralpha, interleukin-6, and interleukin-10 in treated ***: Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract has beneficial effects on inflammatory cytokine regulation and PGE2 inhibition in an experimental mouse model with collagen antibody-induced arthritis. The phytochemical screening reveals that the saponin, as the main component, and sterols(daucosterol and 5α,8α-ergosterol peroxide) from Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract may contribute to its promising in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory activities.

Purpose:The open-access(OA)publishing model can help improve researchers’outreach,thanks to its accessibility and visibility to the ***,the presentation of female researchers can benefit from the O A publishing *** that,little is known about how gender affects OA ***,the current study explores the effects of female involvement and risk aversion on OA publishing patterns among Vietname se social sciences and ***/methodology/approach:The study employed Bayesian Mindsponge Framework(BMF)on a dataset of 3,122 Vietnamese social sciences and humanities(SS&H)publications during *** Mindsponge mechanism was specifically used to construct theoretical models,while Bayesian inference was utilized for fitting ***:The result showed a positive association between female participation and OA publishing ***,the positive effect of female involvement on OA publishing probability was negated by the high ratio of female researchers in a *** status was negatively associated with the JIF of the journal in which the publication was published,but the relationship was moderated by the involvement of a female researcher(s).The findings suggested that Vietnamese female researchers might be more likely to publish under the OA model in journals with high JIF for avoiding the risk of public *** limitations:The study could only provide evidence on the association between female involvement and OA publishing ***,whether to publish under OA terms is often determined by the first or corresponding authors,but not necessarily *** implications:Systematically coordinated actions are suggested to better support women and promote the OA movement in ***/value:The findings show the OA publishing patterns of female researchers in Vietnamese SS&H.

Clinical outcomes of patients with chronic hepatitis C after generic direct-acting antiviral treatments in Vietnam: A retrospective analysis

Objective:To evaluate the outcomes of generic direct-acting antiviral treatments for chronic hepatitis C in ***:The medical records of 522 patients(median 45 years;Female,25.3%)with chronic hepatitis C treated at a tertiary hospital in northern Vietnam in 2016 were retrospectively ***:Female patients were significantly older than male patients(median 52,IQR 41-59 vs.43 years,IQR:39-55;Pledipasvir/sofosbuvir with or without ribavirin(70.9%),sofosbuvir/pegylated-interferon+ribavirin(13.2%),daclatasvir/sofosbuvir with or without ribavirin(12.5%),or sofosbuvir/ribavirin(3.4%),and 96.4%(n=503)completed the direct-acting antiviral *** patient discontinued treatment due to adverse event(s).A sustained virologic response 12 weeks after the end of the treatment(SVR12)was evaluated in 62.6%of *** sustained virologic response 12 weeks after the end of the treatment was 98.7%regardless of HCV genotypes or direct-acting antiviral *** severity of liver stiffness was significantly decreased from 10.2 to 6.3 kilopascals measured by transient elastography by the treatment(Pleted the directacting antiviral treatment,17.7%returned for further follow-ups after ***:In Vietnam,the current generic direct-acting antiviral treatment for chronic hepatitis C was effective regardless of HCV genotypes and direct-acting antiviral regimens with the attenuation of liver *** is feasible to implement direct-acting antiviral treatment to cure chronic hepatitis C patients at any liver fibrosis stages in Vietnam.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy based on clinical symptom and on magnetic resonance image of platelet-rich plasma therapy in combination with mesenchymal stem cells from autologous adipose tissue for knee osteoarthritis treatment. Patients and Method: 30 patients including 26 females and 4 males;correspondingly, 60 knee joints were diagnosed with osteoarthritis with stages II - III of Kellgren and Lawrence, their mean age was 58.63 ± 11.11. All were injected with autologous platelet-rich plasma that was extracted by PRP set, APC 30 PRP PRCEDURE PRAK and autologously extracted mesenchymal stem cells from abdominal adipose tissue using the ADI-25-01 ADIPOSEPRCEDURE PRAK of USA. Results: After 12 months: the pain level according to VAS score at the right knee joint was decreased from 6.0 ± 1.28 before treatment to 1.9 ± 0.3;VAS score at the left knee joint was decreased from 6.43 ± 1.19 to 2.25 ± 0.43. Total lequene score at right knee joint was decreased from 16.04 ± 1.57 before treatment to 4.31 ± 1.04, at left knee joint was decreased from 17.52 ± 1.74 before treatment to 5.15 ± 1.48. Total WOMAC score at right knee joint was decreased from 55.93 ± 5.56 to 10.37 ± 1.56;at left knee joint was decreased from 53.97 ± 5.57 to 10.07 ± 1.59. There were 86.77% joints with cartilage thickness change and the patellar cartilage thickness was increased from 1.56 ± 0.09 mm before treatment to 1.65 ± 0.09 mm. Conclusion: The treatment of knee osteoarthritis by platelet-rich plasma therapyin combination with mesenchymal stem cells from autologous adipose tissue is effective in reducing pain, improving patient's mobility and walking function, reforming articular cartilage thickness on magnetic resonance image.

This study used double-bounded dichotomous-choice to estimate and analyze the factors affecting households’ willingness to pay (WTP) for water quality improvement. This study notes that households with higher income, living near a polluted water source, using tap water instead of natural water, who are handicraft producers, and who have more members, are willing to pay more. However, households who rarely hear about environmental pollution issues and who are offered a higher bid are more likely to refuse to pay. Solutions to improve water quality are suggested such as to raise people’s awareness through communication channels and social organizations;to increase income associated with environmental protection policies;to construct wastewater treatment plants;to encourage the relocation of production establishments to industrial parks and industrial complexes;to put regulations on collection, payment and sanctions in case of not declaring and paying fees into village conventions;to promulgate circulars, and bylaws to concretize and simplify regulations and policies of the Government and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

The diversity of aquatic resources in Thi Nai Lagoon decreased due to the lack of harmonious use and integrated long-term planning on the use of living *** remained a lack of mechanisms and regulations for coordination of activities in the lagoon by Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee(PPC).The aim of the study was to investgate the aquatic species and water quality in Thi Nai Lagoon,*** were collected at 23 different points on Thi Nai Lagoon,with three replicates at each *** were 106 species of fish presented on the lagoon and in different sizes,including 17 mollusc species and 15 crustaceans *** the dry season,there were 167 phytoplankton species in five divisions,10 classes in 39 orders in 59 families including 77 *** had eight chordata in 10 classes of 18 orders including 44 families,64 genus and 102 *** had the largest number of species,78 species,accounting for 76.5%of total *** the rainy season,only 48 species of Arthropoda,Cnidaria,Annelida,Chaetognatha and Rotifer were affected and some were not encountered in the wet season,such as mollusca and *** water quality variables were still good for aquaculture,within permitted limits of TCVN standard and criteria,there were still problems caused by production discharges and living activities of inhabitants around the lagoon,such as sedimentary matters.

RASSFIA Promoter Hypermethylation as a Prognosis and Diagnosis for Breast Cancer in Vietnamese Population

Aberrant tumor suppressor gene promoter methylation was associated with the several cancers, including breast cancer, which was the common female deaths in most countries involved in Vietnam. The methylation in tumor suppressor genes, including RASSFIA, were the key targets of establishing the potential biomarkers for prognosis and early diagnosis of breast cancer. In present study, with the aim towards using the hypermethylation at CpG islands of promoter of RASSFIA as the biomarker for breast cancer in Vietnamese population, MSP （methyl specific PCR） was carried out to analyze the hypermethylation status ofRASSFIA gene in 115 samples including 95 breast cancer specimens and 20 normal breast tissues from another disease （not breast cancer）. All samples were obtained from Ho Chi Minh City Medical Hospital, Vietnam. The known predictive and prognostic factors： HER2/neu overexpression was immunohistochemistry stained as input value for breast cancer specimens. For input value confirmed, the overexpression of p53 protein was also analyzed together with prior immunochemical assay. The results indicated that the hypermethylation of frequencies for methylation of given gene reached 42.1% （P 〈 0.05）. In addition, the DNA hypermethylation of RASSFIA gene increased the possibility to be breast cancer with high incidence via calculated of odd ratio （P 〈 0.05）. In conclusion, the hypermethylation of candidate genes could be used as the promising biomarkers applying in Vietnamese breast cancer patients.
