Polygonatum kingianum rhizome extract alleviates collagen antibody-induced arthritis by modulating proinflammatory cytokine production in mice

Objective: To evaluate the anti-arthritic effects of Polygonatum kingianum rhizome extract using both in vitro and in vivo ***: Lipopolysaccharide-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages were treated with an ethanol extract of Polygonatum kingianum rhizomes at different concentrations to determine nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2(PGE2) production. For in vivo study, Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract was further investigated for its antiinflammatory effect in a mouse model with collagen antibodyinduced arthritis. Phytochemical study of Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract was also ***: Saponins(142 mg/g total yield) was the main component in the Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract. 5α,8α-ergosterol peroxide,(E,E)-9-oxooctadeca-10,12-dienoic acid and 3-(2?-hydroxy-4?-methoxy-benzyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-8-methyl-chroman-4-one were isolated from the extract. Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract exhibited potential anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting nitric oxide and PGE2 production in RAW 264.7 cells in a dosedependent manner. The level of arthritis in mice with collagen antibody-induced arthritis was significantly reduced(Pdose of 1 000 mg/kg body weight. Besides, the extract demonstrated the regulatory effects on serum tumor necrosis factoralpha, interleukin-6, and interleukin-10 in treated ***: Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract has beneficial effects on inflammatory cytokine regulation and PGE2 inhibition in an experimental mouse model with collagen antibody-induced arthritis. The phytochemical screening reveals that the saponin, as the main component, and sterols(daucosterol and 5α,8α-ergosterol peroxide) from Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract may contribute to its promising in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory activities.

this paper deals with H_(∞) control problem for nonlinear conformable fractional order systems. The authors first derive new sufficient condition for exponential stability of nonlinear conformable fractional order systems based on Lyapunov-like function method for conformable fractional order systems and linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) approach. Then, by introducing a new concepts of H_(∞) control problem for nonlinear conformable fractional order systems, the authors study H_(∞) performance analysis and H_(∞) state feedback controller design problems for the considered systems. In terms of LMIs, a sufficient condition is proposed to ensure the nonlinear conformable fractional order systems are not only exponentially stable, but also satisfy H_(∞) performance γ. An explicit expression for state feedback controllers is also designed to make the closed-loop system is exponentially stable with H_∞performance γ. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed results.

Cimicifuga heracleifolia is therapeutically similar to black cohosh in relieving menopausal symptoms: evidence from pharmacological and metabolomics studies

In the market of botanical dietary supplements, Cimicifuga heracleifolia(CH) has always been considered as an adulterated species of Cimicifuga racemosa(CR), a conventional American herb with promising benefits to counteract troubles arising from the menopause. However, the detailed comparison of their therapeutic effects is lacking. In present study, the pharmacological and metabolomics studies were comparatively conducted between CH and CR in ovariectomized(OVX) female rats. Specifically, estrogen-like, anti-hyperlipidemia and anti-osteoporosis effects were evaluated through measuring serum biochemical parameters, histopathological examination and micro computed tomography(Micro-CT) scanning. At the same time, a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)-based serum metabolomics method was employed to profile the metabolite compositional changes. As a result, both CR and CH displayed anti-osteoporosis and anti-hyperlipemia on menopause syndrome. Meanwhile, their potentials in improving the OVX-induced metabolic disorders were discovered. In conclusion, these results demonstrated that CH is therapeutically similar to CR in relieving menopausal symptoms and CH could be considered as a promising alternative to CR instead of an adulterant in the market of botanical dietary supplements.

Clinical and Magnetic Resonance Image Changes of Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy in Combination with Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells from Autologous Adipose Tissue for Knee Osteoarthritis Treatment

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy based on clinical symptom and on magnetic resonance image of platelet-rich plasma therapy in combination with mesenchymal stem cells from autologous adipose tissue for knee osteoarthritis treatment. Patients and Method: 30 patients including 26 females and 4 males;correspondingly, 60 knee joints were diagnosed with osteoarthritis with stages II - III of Kellgren and Lawrence, their mean age was 58.63 ± 11.11. All were injected with autologous platelet-rich plasma that was extracted by PRP set, APC 30 PRP PRCEDURE PRAK and autologously extracted mesenchymal stem cells from abdominal adipose tissue using the ADI-25-01 ADIPOSEPRCEDURE PRAK of USA. Results: After 12 months: the pain level according to VAS score at the right knee joint was decreased from 6.0 ± 1.28 before treatment to 1.9 ± 0.3;VAS score at the left knee joint was decreased from 6.43 ± 1.19 to 2.25 ± 0.43. Total Lequene score at right knee joint was decreased from 16.04 ± 1.57 before treatment to 4.31 ± 1.04, at left knee joint was decreased from 17.52 ± 1.74 before treatment to 5.15 ± 1.48. Total WOMAC score at right knee joint was decreased from 55.93 ± 5.56 to 10.37 ± 1.56;at left knee joint was decreased from 53.97 ± 5.57 to 10.07 ± 1.59. There were 86.77% joints with cartilage thickness change and the patellar cartilage thickness was increased from 1.56 ± 0.09 mm before treatment to 1.65 ± 0.09 mm. Conclusion: The treatment of knee osteoarthritis by platelet-rich plasma therapyin combination with mesenchymal stem cells from autologous adipose tissue is effective in reducing pain, improving patient's mobility and walking function, reforming articular cartilage thickness on magnetic resonance image.

Studies on the Combination of Some Selected Microorganisms for Biodegradation of Cassava Peel Wastes （Manihot Esculenta）

Cassava peel has a lot of nutrients which can be utilized as fertilizer in agriculture. However, high cellulose contents may cause difficulty for organic digestion and slow down the nutrient absorption for plants. this study aims to reach the microorganisms or their combination for biodegradating the cassava peel waste. The initial result shows that after 21 days the glucose concentration in all samples was the highest during experiment times. The reducing glucose produced in mg/mL by the selected bacteria was 9.32, higher than the selected fungie of 1.57 mg/mL. The percentage degradation of cassava peel weigh was the highest for fungi which was 52% of weigh, respectively. Meanwhile, bacteria only degradated about 31.6% after 4 weeks. However, the combination between bacteria and fungi provides the highest glucose concentration, 19.29 mg/mL and digests 62% of the mass cassava in experiment. this study suggests that biodegradation of agro-wastes in the environment to reduce biomass waste pollution is very promising.

目的:研究非糖尿病心力衰竭(Heart Failure,HF)患者应用达格列净治疗后血浆中血浆肾素浓度(Plasma renin concentration,PRC)、血浆血管紧张素Ⅱ(angiotensinⅡ,ANG-II)、血浆醛固酮(Aldosterone,ALD)的浓度水平变化情况,探讨达格列净对不伴糖尿病心力衰竭患者RAAS系统影响。方法:选取2021年7月至2022年10月于大理大学第一附属医院心内科收治102例非糖尿病心力衰竭患者为研究对象,44名常规治疗的患者纳入对照组,58名在常规治疗基础上口服达格列净的患者纳入实验组。记录患者一般情况,并分别在服药前及服药后第7天测定患者一般实验室指标(血尿酸、血糖、肌酐、总胆固醇、甘油三酯、血钾、血钠、低密度脂蛋白胆固醇)、BNP值、RAAS系统(PRC、ANG-II、ALD)、左室射血分数(LVEF)、心功能等级。记录两组患者基础资料以及治疗期间心衰症状、心肾功能及RAAS系统相关指标的变化情况并进行对比。结果:1.实验组患者NYHA心功能分级I级从1例(1.72%)经治疗后升到12例(20.68%);心功能II级从5例(8.62%)上升至45例(77.59%);心功能III级从40例(68.89%)降低0例(0.00%),心功能IV级从12例(20.68%)降到1例(1.72%),治疗前后心功能分级分布差异有统计学差异(P0.05)。治疗前后实验组患者均进行生命体征、Glu、TC、TG、Cr、UA,K、Na复查未出现明显异常,未发生不良反应事件,说明达格列净治疗于心衰是安全的。3.治疗后实验组BNP值为(434.55±418.40)pg/ml,对照组为(619.33±453.37)pg/ml,实验组低于对照组,组间差异具有统计学意义(P0.05);经治疗,实验组患者的PRC值显著下降至(11.58±4.77)pg/ml,差异具有统计学意义(P0.05);经治疗,实验组患者的ALD值显著下降至(65.47±12.01)pg/ml,差异具有统计学意义(P0.05)。比较两组患者治疗前后差值,实验组ALD(pg/ml)(19.05±20.16),与对照组(2.29±16.07)结果显示,实验组显著高于对照组具有统计学意义(P0.05);经治疗,实验组与对照组均显著下降,治疗前后差异均具有统计学意义(P0.05)。结论:1.达格列净可显著降低不伴糖尿病心力衰竭患者心功能分级和BNP值,且安全性佳。2.达格列净可显著降PRC、Ang-II、ALD浓度水平,且治疗效果不受性别和其他药物的影响。提示达格列净可能具有抑制RASS系统的作用。

The Roles of Female Involvement and Risk Aversion in Open Access Publishing Patterns in Vietnamese Social Sciences and Humanities

Purpose:The open-access(OA)publishing model can help improve researchers’outreach,thanks to its accessibility and visibility to the ***,the presentation of female researchers can benefit from the O A publishing *** that,little is known about how gender affects OA ***,the current study explores the effects of female involvement and risk aversion on OA publishing patterns among Vietname se social sciences and ***/methodology/approach:The study employed Bayesian Mindsponge Framework(BMF)on a dataset of 3,122 Vietnamese social sciences and humanities(SS&H)publications during *** Mindsponge mechanism was specifically used to construct theoretical models,while Bayesian inference was utilized for fitting ***:The result showed a positive association between female participation and OA publishing ***,the positive effect of female involvement on OA publishing probability was negated by the high ratio of female researchers in a *** status was negatively associated with the JIF of the journal in which the publication was published,but the relationship was moderated by the involvement of a female researcher(s).The findings suggested that Vietnamese female researchers might be more likely to publish under the OA model in journals with high JIF for avoiding the risk of public *** limitations:The study could only provide evidence on the association between female involvement and OA publishing ***,whether to publish under OA terms is often determined by the first or corresponding authors,but not necessarily *** implications:Systematically coordinated actions are suggested to better support women and promote the OA movement in ***/value:The findings show the OA publishing patterns of female researchers in Vietnamese SS&H.

Environmental and External Costs of Yali Hydropower Plant and Policy Recommendations in Vietnam

The purpose of this study is to estimate the monetary value of the main environmental and external costs of Yali Hydropower Plant (YHPP) and to incorporate them into the financial viability indices of the plant, namely its net present value and electricity price. The results were found that if the electricity price is kept at its original level of 5.2 US cents/kWh to cover direct costs only, the net present value of the plant would be reduced to about 27% by incorporating environmental and external costs. Alternatively, the electricity price would have to be increased to 5.68 US cents/kWh in order to cover the full costs of YHPP and to maintain the original net present value. The main policy recommendations are: Government regulations should require that the financial analysis and appraisal of all future electricity sources include the full cost of these schemes, including not only direct costs but also environmental and external costs related to preventing or mitigating the environmental impact caused by them. An appropriate financial mechanism should be established to allocate the revenue from full cost electricity pricing to a fund to cover the environmental protection and compensation costs.
