Recently emerging disadvantages in conventional disinfection have heightened the need for finding a new solution. Developments in the use of high pressure carbon dioxide for food preservation and sterilization have led to a renewed interest in its applicability in wastewater treatment and water disinfection. Pressurized CO2 is one of the most investigated methods of antibacterial treatment and has been used extensively for decades to inhibit pathogens in dried food and liquid products. This study reviews the literature concerning the utility of CO2 as a disinfecting agent, and the pathogen inactivation mechanism of CO2 treatment is evaluated based on all available research. In this paper, it will be argued that the successful application and high effectiveness of CO2 treatment in liquid foods open a potential opportunity for its use in wastewater treatment and water disinfection. The findings from models with different operating conditions（pressure, temperature, microorganism, water content, media …） suggest that most microorganisms are successfully inhibited under CO2 treatment. It will also be shown that the bacterial deaths under CO2 treatment can be explained by many different mechanisms.Moreover, the findings in this study can help to address the recently emerging problems in water disinfection, such as disinfection by-products（resulting from chlorination or ozone treatment）.

The inactivation effects of pressurized CO2 against bacteriophage Qβ and ФX 174 were investigated under the pressure of 0.3-0.9 MPa, initial concentration of 107-109 PFU/mL, and temperature of 17.8℃-27.2℃. The optimum conditions were found to be 0.7 MPa and an exposure time of 25 min. Under identical treatment conditions, a greater than 3.3-log reduction in bacteriophage Qβ was achieved by CO2, while a nearly 3.0 log reduction was observed for phage ФX174. The viricidal effects of N2O （an inactivation gas with similar characteristics to CO2）, normal acid （HC1）, and CO2 treatment with phosphate buffered saline affirmed the chemical nature of CO2 treatment. The pumping cycle, depressurization rate, and release of intracellular substances caused by CO2 were its viricidal mechanisms. The results indicate that CO2 has the potential for use as a disinfectant without forming disinfection by-products.

Performance test of organic planting bags for woody plant seedlings

Organic planting bag has been developed to overcome both weaknesses of plastic polybags,contaminating the soil and damaging the plant’s root when transplanting.The improvement in this stage was achieved by inserting coconut fiber to strengthen a bag.The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of seedling and transplanting by using organic planting bags,employed,three woody plants,i.e.,Albizia(Albizia julibrissin),Cadam(Neolamarckia cadamba)and Gmelina(Gmelina arborea).Performance testing of organic plant bags was conducted on three compositions of coconut fiber and water hyacinth.Two stages of experiments were conducted to know bag performance.First,the testing of organic plant bags during the nursery was conducted for 50 d from day 0 to day 50.Second,the testing of organic plant bags after transplanting and observed on days 60,70,and 80,after transplanted on the field.The parameters in this study were plant height,a total of roots that penetrate the organic plant bags and a total of leaves and stem diameters of plant grown in the organic bag and transplanting on land.The results showed that organic planting bag with the composition 155 g of coconut fiber and 505 g of water hyacinth(A3B3)has 0.020 kg/cm^(2) compressive strength and provides the best plant growth rates.Compressive strength affects the number of roots which penetrate the organic bag.Generally,the growth of seed in organic bags is faster than that in polybags.Albizia shows a higher growth rate(0.379 cm/d)compared to Cadam and Gmelina.

We present one-loop contributions for h→ℓℓγ with ℓ=νe,μ,τ,e,μ and e−e+→hγ in the U(1)_(B−L) extension of the standard model. In the phenomenological results, the signal strengths for h→ℓℓγ at the Large Hadron Collider and for e−e+→hγ at future lepton colliders are analyzed in the physical parameter space for both the vector and chiral B−L models. We found that the contributions from the neutral gauge boson Z′ to the signal strengths are rather small. Consequently, the effects will be difficult to probe at future colliders. However, the impacts of charged Higgs and CP-odd Higgs in the chiral B−L model on the signal strengths are significant and can be measured with the help of the initial polarization beams at future lepton colliders.

Land use type affects the physicochemical properties of soil.The value of OM and TN is high in acacia soils.Strong acidity of soil is considered a serious constraint for agriculture.Suitable cash crops are acacia,cassava,banana,rice and maize.Soil fertility is affected by land-use types and land management,which exacerbates soil erosion and various other forms of soil degradation in the mountainous regions of Viet-nam.This study was conducted in A Luoi District,Thua Thien Hue,Vietnam to identify the effects of land-use types on specific soil physicochemical characteristics related to soil fertility.Soil physicochemical properties,such as organic matter(OM),total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorous(TP),and K+were significantly affected by land-use type.The results showed that the soils were sandy in rice but clay loam for acacia and cassava.The mean bulk density value of acacia soil was significantly greater than that of other soils.TN were higher in the acacia soils than those in the rice,maize,and banana soils.The OM content was significantly higher in the acacia,cassava,and banana soils than those in the rice and maize soils.The mean of exchangeable K+in the rice soil was higher compared to those in other soils and was affected by land-use type.The high exchangeable acidity content in the soils was probably due to intensive precipitation.However,both land use type and management did not affect the CEC value.Overall,the inappropriate land use caused the disturbance of soil physicochemical properties,indicating that the conditions of rice and maize soils are becoming worse than acacia soils.Therefore,lowering the intensity of cultivation,adopting incorporated soil fertility management,and applying organic fertilizer should preserve the existing conditions and enhance soil properties.

With the advancement of artificial intelligence,traffic forecasting is gaining more and more interest in optimizing route planning and enhancing service quality.Traffic volume is an influential parameter for planning and operating traffic structures.This study proposed an improved ensemble-based deep learning method to solve traffic volume prediction problems.A set of optimal hyperparameters is also applied for the suggested approach to improve the performance of the learning process.The fusion of these methodologies aims to harness ensemble empirical mode decomposition’s capacity to discern complex traffic patterns and long short-term memory’s proficiency in learning temporal relationships.Firstly,a dataset for automatic vehicle identification is obtained and utilized in the preprocessing stage of the ensemble empirical mode decomposition model.The second aspect involves predicting traffic volume using the long short-term memory algorithm.Next,the study employs a trial-and-error approach to select a set of optimal hyperparameters,including the lookback window,the number of neurons in the hidden layers,and the gradient descent optimization.Finally,the fusion of the obtained results leads to a final traffic volume prediction.The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms other benchmarks regarding various evaluation measures,including mean absolute error,root mean squared error,mean absolute percentage error,and R-squared.The achieved R-squared value reaches an impressive 98%,while the other evaluation indices surpass the competing.These findings highlight the accuracy of traffic pattern prediction.Consequently,this offers promising prospects for enhancing transportation management systems and urban infrastructure planning.

有机种植袋的开发应用可以克服塑料袋带来的污染土壤和移植时损害植物根系的缺点。通过加入椰子纤维来加强有机种植袋的韧性。该研究的主要目的是探讨三种木本植物Albizia julibrisin、Neolamarckia cadamba和Gmelina arborea采用有机种植袋育苗移栽的效果。对椰子纤维和水葫芦三种成分的有机植物袋进行了性能测试。为了解种植袋的性能,进行了两个阶段的试验。首先,从第0天至第50天,在苗圃期间进行50d的有机植物袋试验。其次,移栽后第60天、70天、80天对有机植物袋进行检测,并进行田间观察。该研究中的参数为株高、穿透有机种植袋的总根数以及在有机种植袋中生长并在田间移栽的植物的总叶数和茎径。结果表明,椰子纤维155g和水葫芦505g组成的有机种植袋(A3B3)的抗压强度为0.020 kg/cm2,具有最佳的植株生长速率。抗压强度影响穿透有机袋的根数。一般来说,有机种植袋中种子的生长速度比塑料袋里的要快。Albizia的生长速率(0.379 cm/d)高于Cadam和Gmelina。

The superior ability of perovskite-type SrNbO_(2) N to absorb intensive visible light makes it a potential semiconductor to produce hydrogen and oxygen by photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting under sunlight.The surface morphologies,such as shape and structure,of the oxynitride strongly affect its photoactivity,although the mechanism has been hardly studied.Herein,we report a two-dimensional(2D)porous SrNbO_(2) N plate with Zr doping,nitrided from layered perovskite Sr_(5)Nb_(4)O_(15) and also its largely enhanced PEC water splitting activity.Zr^(4+)was doped in Sr_(5)Nb_(4)O_(15) during flux-assisted calcination using KCl,producing 2D-type truncated-octahedral Sr_(5)Nb_(4)O_(15):Zr plates approximately 50 nm in thickness.The nitridation completely transformed Sr_(5)Nb_(4)O_(15):Zr to 2D single-crystalline SrNbO_(2) N:Zr with a large surface area,which was subsequently used to fabricate a thin and uniform photoanode by the spin coating method.As a result,the Co(OH)_(x)/SrNbO_(2) N:Zr/FTO photoanode capable of absorbing visible light of up to 680 nm exhibited an activity of 2.0 mA cm^(-2) at 1.23 V vs the reversible hydrogen electrode for water splitting under AM 1.5G simulated sunlight.This improvement in photoactivity mainly originated from the 2D surface morphology of SrNbO_(2) N:Zr,which is clearly distinguishable from 3D-type oxynitrides.According to electrochemical analyses,the 2D structure of SrNbO_(2) N:Zr boosted the separation and accelerated the transfer of charges photogenerated during the water splitting,thus driving the reaction further.Therefore,the result empirically demonstrates that controlling the surface morphology of SrNbO_(2) N is an effective strategy to suppress the recombination of charges and minimize their diffusion pathway,eventually enhancing the PEC activity.

Landslide susceptibility maps (LSMs) are very crucial for planningpolicies in hazardous areas. However, the accuracy and reliability ofLSMs depend on available data and the selection of suitable methods.This study is conducted to produce LSMs by combinations of machinelearning methods and weighting techniques for Ha Giang province,Vietnam, where has limited data. In study area, we gather 11 landslideconditioning factors and establish a landslide inventory map.Computing the weights of classes (or factors) is very important toprepare data for machine learning methods to generate LSMs. Wefrst use frequency ratio (FR) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP)techniques to generate the weights. Then, random forest (RF), supportvector machine (SVM), logistic regression (LR), and AHP methods arecombined with FR and AHP weights to yield accurate and reliableLSMs. Finally, the performance of these methods is evaluated by fivestatistical metrics, ROC and R-index. The empirical results have shownthat RF is the best method in terms of R-index and the five metrics, i.e.TP rate (0.9661), FP rate (0.0), ACC (0.9835), MAE (0.0046), and RMSE(0.0350) for this study area. This study opens the perspective of weightbasedmachine learning methods for landslide susceptibility mapping.
