BACKGROUND Leishmaniasis is a neglected zoonotic disease,endemic in *** this disease is very important to inform the health care policymakers and the governments to apply proper health and economic *** To find out the frequency and distribution of human leishmaniasis based on sex and age for 5 years in the West Kordofan state,*** A 5-year retrospective study from 2016 through 2020 was carried out using local hospital records of leishmaniasis *** positive results were recorded after performing at least one of the following leishmaniasis standard tests:direct agglutination test,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and leishmania skin *** sex and age of each patient were *** collected data were analyzed using STATA package version *** A total of 162443 patient records from 2016 to 2020 were *** these,4.39%were found to be positive for *** disease has been more common in males(65.3%)than in females(34.7%).The highest reported prevalence(6.58%)was in patients 15-44 years,and the lowest prevalence(1.95%)was among patients≥65 *** The results of the current study indicate that leishmaniasis is endemic in the study area even though the numbers of patients in the 5 consecutive years were *** addition,the disease was common in males and *** interpretation of these findings should take into consideration the absence of information about some important confounding factors.

Thermal Diffusivity of Zinc-Aluminum Layered Double Hydroxide Using PVDF Photoflash Technique

Thermal diffusivity of zinc-aluminum layered double hydroxides synthesized at different molar ratios of Zn to Al, at pH 7 and 8 were measured using polyvinlidene diflouride (PVDF) photoflash technique. The samples were prepared using Zn(NO3)2 and Al(NO3)2 solutions by dropwise addition of NaOH solution with vigorous stirring under nitrogen atmosphere. The different ratios of Zn to Al were obtained by changing the molar ratio of Zn(NO3)2 to Al(NO3)2 solutions. The slurry formed was kept at 70 ?C in an oil bath shaker for 18 h and then filtered, washed and dried in an oven for another 48 h at 70 ?C. A simple photoflash and PVDF transducer were used as light source and thermal wave detector, respectively. All the measurements of thermal diffusivity of Zn-Al layered double hydroxide were carried out at room temperature. For Zn/Al > 3, the thermal diffusivity of all series of sample prepared at pH = 7 and 8 increase with the increasing of Zn composition. Thermal diffusivity values of zinc-aluminum layered doubled hydroxide synthesized at pH 8 are higher than the values obtained for samples prepared at pH = 7 except for Zn/Al higher than 5.

In response to the global food crisis and the imperative to address soil degradation, the international agricultural policy is actively working to alleviate the adverse impacts of soil salinity. As part of this initiative, a field trial spanning two consecutive seasons (2019/20-2020/21) was conducted under saline conditions. The primary objective was to evaluate the influence of various compost sources, including vermicompost at a rate of 0.5 ton·fed-1 and plant residues compost at a rate of 5.0 ton·fed-1, as main plots. Subplots were established by applying agricultural gypsum, both in the presence and absence of gypsum requirements. Additionally, sub-subplots were created by externally applying cobalt at a rate of 10.0 mg·L-1, with one sub-subplot receiving foliar cobalt application and the other not. The trial sought to assess the growth performance, chemical composition, enzymatic antioxidants, yield, and quality of cabbage plants (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.) cultivated in saline soil. According to the findings, cabbage plants exhibited the most favorable response in terms of plant height, chlorophyll content, carotene levels, leaf area, nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), head yield, vitamin C, and total dissolved solids (TDS) when treated with vermicompost, followed by plant compost. Conversely, plants grown without compost exhibited the least improvement in performance. Cabbage treated with agricultural gypsum requirements showed better performance than those without gypsum amendment. Moreover, plants subjected to cobalt spray demonstrated the highest growth, yield, and quality parameters compared to those without cobalt foliar application. In contrast, the control group (plants without the studied treatments) displayed the highest levels of enzymatic antioxidants, specifically catalase and peroxidase. This indicates that soil salinity stress led to an increase in catalase and peroxidase production in cabbage

Background: Complications linked to postpartum & pregnancy are one of the major causes of female death. In order to understand the causes of complications and encourage women to take sufficient action in order to receive emergency treatment, a critical step should therefore be taken to minimize complications related to pregnancy, in order to ensure the safety of both women and newborns. AIM:To share the results of a national screening program for amblyopia in school children in the north of ***:This is a prospective national screening study for *** program rolls first and second-grade children(6 to 7 years old) in the north of *** eye examination included:best-corrected visual acuity,cover-uncover test,and cycloplegic *** visual acuity was tested using an ETDRS visual acuity chart without ***,children were tested with full cycloplegic refraction when the test criteria were *** amblyopia was defined as a best-corrected visual acuity difference of 2 or more *** comparison,bilateral amblyopia was defined as a best-corrected visual acuity of 20/40 or worse in the best ***:The prevalence of amblyopia for the total sample tested(n=17 203) was 2.78%(n=479).The most common cause of amblyopia was hypermetropia(64.45%),followed by previous ocular surgeries(15.1%),myopia(10.43%),strabismus(9.39%),and congenital cataract(0.63%).CONCLUSION:This is the first and only study,identifing modifiable risk factors in Jordanian children with *** their first couple of years of elementary education,many Jordanian children are affected by amblyopia and pass unnoticed.A more governmental effort is needed into screening programs to improve vision in the Jordanian population.

Synthesis, Characterization and Phytotoxicity Assessment of Intercalated Insect Pheromone, Lignoceric Acid-Zinc Layered Hydroxide Nanohybrid

A long chain insect pheromone for subterranean termites, LC (Lignoceric Acid), was intercalated into the inorganic interlayer, ZLH (Zinc Layered Hydroxide), resulting in the formation of a new nanohybrid, labelled as LCN (Lignocerate Nanohybrid). The formation of this inorganic-organic structure nanohybrid was synthesized by the co-precipitation method using ZnO (Zinc Oxide) as the starting material. The PXRD (Powder X-Ray Diffraction) results confirmed the intercalation process although the diffraction patterns of the resultant nanohybrid and the unbound pheromone were fairly similar but both have different basal spacings values. The FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) profiles and the chemical composition test supported the intercalation process with the percentage loading of LC into ZLH calculated to be 85%. The thermal stability of the free anion, LC was enhanced when it was transformed into LCN, increasing from 257 °C to 352 °C. The release of LC from the nanohybrid behaved in a sustained manner, governed by the pseudo-second order kinetic model with higher release of LC in sodium carbonate solution than the pH aqueous media. The synthesized nanohybrid was found to be safe for plant germination when the two seed types were successfully germinated in all the tested nanohybrid concentrations. However, the percentage seed germination and the radical seed length from the nanohybrid showed lower values compared to its counterpart anion, LC.
