In the phloem cap region o i Arabidopsis plants,sulfur-rich cells(S-cells)accumulate>100 mM glucosinolates(GLS),but are biosynthetically *** source and route of S-cell-bound GLS remain *** this study,using single-cell sampling and scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray analysis we show that two GLS importers,NPF2.10/GTR1 and NPF2.11/GTR2,are critical for GLS accumulation in S-cells,although they are not localized in the *** of GLS levels in S-cells in multiple combinations of homo-and heterografts o lg t r l gtr2,biosynthetic null mutant and wild-type plants indicate that S-cells accumulate GLS via symplasmic connections either directly from neighboring biosynthetic cells or indirectly to non-neighboring cells expressing GTR1/*** sources and transport routes exist for different types of GLS,and vary depending on the position of S-cells in the inflorescence *** on these findings,we propose a model illustrating the GLS transport routes either directly from biosynthetic cells or via GTR-mediated import from apoplastic space radially into a symplasmic domain,wherein the S-cells are the ultimate ***,we observed accumulation of the cyanogenic glucoside defensive compounds in high-turgor cells in the phloem cap of Lotus japonicus,suggesting that storage of defensive compounds in high-turgor cells may be a general mechanism for chemical protection of the phloem cap.

Physical and orbital properties of the stellar system HIP 43766

In this paper,we present the analysis of the stellar binary system HIP 43766 to determine its *** rely on dynamical modeling and atmospheric modeling with recent data to determine the orbital solution and the physical properties of the *** is a consistency between observed and synthetic photometry obtained using atmospheric *** calculated dynamical mass sum of the system ranged between 1.691 and 2.609 solar masses,while it ranges between 2.0 and 2.1 as estimated utilizing atmospheric *** could be due to inaccuracy in estimating the orbit,which could be modified with future observations with more relative positional *** parameters of the system and the position of the components on the evolutionary tracks show that the system consists of F5 and G5 subgiant stars,mostly formed by fragmentation.A dynamical mass sum is predicted for the system.

L-Carnitine, but not coenzyme Q10, enhances the anti-osteoporotic effect of atorvastatin in ovariectomized rats

Objective： Statins＇ therapy in osteoporosis can aggravate muscle damage. This study was designed to assess which agent, L-carnitine or coenzyme Q10, could enhance the anti-osteoporotic effect of atorvastatin while antagonizing myopathy in ovariectomized rats. Methods： Forty-eight female Sprague Dawley rats were used; forty rats were ovariectomized while eight were sham-operated. Eight weeks post-ovariectomy, rats were divided into ovariectomized-untreated group and four ovadectomized-treated groups （n=8） which received by gavage （mg/（kg.d）, for 8 weeks） 17^-estradiol （0.1）, atorvastatin （50）, atorvastatin （50）＋L-carnitine （100）, or atorvastatin （50）＋coenzyme Q10 （20）. At the end of therapy, bone mineral density （BMD）, bone mineral content （BMC）, and serum levels of bone metabolic markers （BMMs） and creatine kinase （CK） were measured. Femurs were used for studying the breaking strength and histopathological changes. Results： Treatment with atorvastatin＋L-carnitine restored BMD, BMC, and bone strength to near normal levels. Estrogen therapy restored BMD and BMC to near normal levels, but failed to increase bone strength. Although atorvastatin and atorvastatin＋coenzyme Q10 improved BMD, BMC, and bone strength, they failed to restore levels to normal. All treatments decreased BMMs and improved histopathological changes maximally with atorvastatin＋L-carnitine which restored levels to near normal. Atorvastatin aggravated the ovariectomy-induced increase in CK level while estrogen, atorvastatin＋L-carnitine, and atorvastatin＋coenzyme Q10 decreased its level mainly with atorvastatin＋L-camitine which restored the level to near normal. Conclusions： Co- administration of L-carnitine, but not coenzyme Q10, enhances the anti-osteoporotic effect of atorvastatin while an- tagonizing myopathy in ovariectomized rats. This could be valuable in treatment of osteoporotic patients. However, further confirmatory studies are needed.

Seismic Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Silos under Far-Field and Near-Fault Earthquakes

Silos are strategical structures used to stockpile various types of granular *** are highly vulnerable to earthquake excitation and have been frequently reported to fail at a higher rate than any other industrial *** seismic response of silos within the near-fault region will suffer a complex combination of loadings due to the unique characteristics of the near-fault ground motions;which are usually associated with a large amplitude pulse at the beginning of either the velocity or the displacement time *** study aims to numerically evaluate the seismic response of reinforced concrete cylindrical silos under near-fault ground motions(NFGM)and far-field ground motions(FFGM).The assessment investigates the impact of the slenderness ratio and the para-meters’influence on the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete *** validity of the Eurocode provisions in the structural safety of silos will also be *** nonlinear time history analysis is carried out through the finite element approach by examining four silos with different slenderness *** concrete damage plas-ticity model is assigned to the silo wall to simulate the nonlinear behavior of concrete in the plastic zone;while,the behavior of the stored material is represented by the Drucker-Prager plastic *** wall-granular material interaction is considered and defined by coulomb’s friction *** results of the near-fault records reveal a growth up to 72.8%in the hoop stress and 160.4%in the vertical stress compared to the far-field ***,the seismic response of reinforced concrete silos is highly sensitive to the type of ground motion,and slender silos tend to impose greater structural demand under the ***,The Eurocode-8 seismic provisions were adequate in the conventional far-field ground motions and less effective in the near-fault zone.

Bone mineral density in fracture neck of femur patients:What's the significance?

BACKGROUND The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence(NICE)guidelines have advised further research is required into investigating the added prognostic value of bone mineral density(BMD)in the assessment of fracture risk with the Fracture Risk Assessment Tool(FRAX)*** To investigate the significance of BMD in fracture neck of femur patients and compare it to the outcome of the FRAX *** Inclusion criteria for this study were all patients who underwent dual-energy Xray absorptiometry(DXA)scan following fracture neck of femur between 2015 and *** of BMD,FRAX scores and patient demographic data was *** A total of 69 patients were included in the study,mean age 74.1 *** was no significant difference between mean BMD of the femoral neck in males(0.65)as compared to females(0.61)(P=0.364).Analyses showed no significant correlation between BMD and menopause age(rs=-0.28,P=0.090).A significant difference was seen of the femoral neck BMD between the different fracture pattern types(P=0.026).A stronger correlation was observed between BMD of femoral neck and FRAX major score(rs=-0.64,P<0.001)than with BMD of lumbar spine and FRAX major score(rs=-0.37,P=0.003).CONCLUSION This study demonstrated that BMD of the femoral neck measured by DXA scan is of added prognostic value when assessing patients for risk of fracture neck of femur in combination with the FRAX predictive scoring system.

The software engineering field has long focused on creating high-quality software despite limited *** defects before the testing stage of software development can enable quality assurance engineers to con-centrate on problematic modules rather than all the *** approach can enhance the quality of the final product while lowering development *** defective modules early on can allow for early corrections and ensure the timely delivery of a high-quality product that satisfies customers and instills greater confidence in the development *** process is known as software defect prediction,and it can improve end-product quality while reducing the cost of testing and *** study proposes a software defect prediction system that utilizes data fusion,feature selection,and ensemble machine learning fusion techniques.A novel filter-based metric selection technique is proposed in the framework to select the optimum features.A three-step nested approach is presented for predicting defective modules to achieve high *** the first step,three supervised machine learning techniques,including Decision Tree,Support Vector Machines,and Naïve Bayes,are used to detect faulty *** second step involves integrating the predictive accuracy of these classification techniques through three ensemble machine-learning methods:Bagging,Voting,and ***,in the third step,a fuzzy logic technique is employed to integrate the predictive accuracy of the ensemble machine learning *** experiments are performed on a fused software defect dataset to ensure that the developed fused ensemble model can perform effectively on diverse *** NASA datasets are integrated to create the fused dataset:MW1,PC1,PC3,PC4,and *** to the results,the proposed system exhibited superior performance to other advanced techniques for predicting software defects,achieving a remarkable accuracy rate of 92.08%.
