Advances in microsurgery for upper and lower extremity reconstruction and limb preservation

In the recent decades,microsurgical reconstruction has evolved from simple survival of the affected extremity to the improvement of functional and aesthetic *** review retraces the main contributions to the advances of microsurgery for reconstruction of upper and lower extremities and limb *** the upper extremity,it is important to restore fine motility,together with allowing prompt *** the lower limb,care must be taken in the reconstruction of weight-bearing areas and the aim must be proper ambulation and shoe *** perforator flaps can be considered for medium size *** provide thin coverage and can be performed in short operating *** use,though,is often limited by tissue *** flaps allow to overcome this problem and,thanks to the recent development in the study of perforator vessels,the microsurgeon can choose the flap with the most appropriate *** flaps can accomplish simultaneous reconstruction of different tissue components and large bone defects often require vascularized bone *** dealing with limb preservation it is very important to consider residual *** muscle transfer and targeted muscle re-innervation can be performed in these cases.A useful reconstructive tool in severely damaged limbs with limited blood supply is the use of cross-leg free *** conclusion,extremity reconstruction and limb preservation are reaching new heights thanks,not only to the work of plastic surgeons,but also to the new developments in other fields of study such as oncology,traumatology,radiology and medical engineering.

BACKGROUND The current case report describes successful phacoemulsification with the aid of perioperative topical ascorbic acid(AA) in two patients with corneal endothelial disorders to prevent postoperative corneal endothelial *** SUMMARY Two eyes of two patients underwent phacoemulsification with pre-existing corneal endothelial disorders including Fuchs corneal endothelial dystrophy(Patient 1) and endotheliitis(Patient 2). Topical AA was applied to both patients at least one month before and after with a frequency of four times per day. After the surgery, both eyes improved best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA) and there was limited human corneal endothelial cell loss without signs of corneal endothelial decompensation, such as deteriorated BCVA or persistent corneal edema during the follow-up of at least two *** Perioperative administration of topical AA may be an alternative therapy to the triple procedure in patients expecting to undergo cataract surgery.

BACKGROUND Streptococcus mitis(***)is an opportunistic pathogen that can lead to severe ocular *** previous reports,penetrating keratoplasty(PK)was usually adopted for the treatment of persistent corneal *** report describes an unusual case of nonhealing descemetocele caused by *** treated by antibiotics plus amniotic membrane transplantation(AMT).CASE SUMMARY A 63-year-old woman presented with a right persistent corneal ulcer that she had suffered from for the past 9 *** culture of a corneal scraping yielded *** right eye descemetocele decreased in diameter from 3 to 0.8 mm after the continuous administration of topical vancomycin and ceftriaxone for 2 *** to the slow healing,AMT was *** corneal erosion healed and gradually became *** visual acuity recovered from initially counting fingers to 100/200 at the last follow-up,67 mo after *** Antibiotics plus AMT may be an effective alternative treatment other than PK to promote epithelializationand to reduce inflammation in the corneas complicated by S. mitis keratitis.

A modern survey method for determining live loads based on multi-source and open-access data on the Internet

Sufficient survey data are required to describe the stochastic behaviors of live ***,due to manual and on-site operation required by traditional survey methods,traditional surveys face challenges like occupant resistance,high costs,and long implementation *** study proposes a new survey method to access live load data online and *** samples are acquired from multi-source,open-access and dynamically updated data on the *** change intervals,geometrical dimensions and object quantities are obtained from transaction information,building attributes and virtual reality models on real estate websites,*** object weights are collected from commodity information on e-commerce *** integration of the aforementioned data allows for the extraction of necessary statistics to describe a live load *** proposed method is applied to a live load survey in china,covering 20040 m^(2),with around 90000 samples acquired for object weights and load *** survey results reveal that about 70%−80%of the amplitude statistics are attributable to 1/6 of the total object types.

Transient long-range distance measurement by a Vernier spectral interferometry

Rapid and long-range distance measurements are essential in various industrial and scientific applications,and among them,the dual-comb ranging system attracts great attention due to its high ***,the tem-poral asynchronous sampling results in the tradeoff between frame rate and ranging precision,and the non-ambiguity range(NAR)is also limited by the comb cycle,which hinders the further advancement of the dual-comb ranging *** this constraint,we introduce a Vernier spectral interferometry to improve the frame rate and NAR of the ranging ***,leveraging the dispersive time-stretch technology,the dual-comb interferometry becomes spectral ***,the asynchronous time step is unlimited,and the frame rate is improved to 100 ***,dual-wavelength bands are introduced to implement a Vernier spectral interferometry,whose NAR is enlarged from 1.5 m to 1.5 ***,this fast and long-range system also demonstrated high precision,with a 22.91-nm Allan deviation over 10-ms averaging *** a result,the proposed Vernier spectral interferometry ranging system is promising for diverse applications that necessitate rapid and extensive distance measurement.

Mask image projection-based vat photopolymerization(MIP-VPP)offers advantages like low cost,high resolution,and a wide material range,making it popular in industry and ***,MIP-VPP employing liquid crystal displays(LCDs)has gained traction,increasingly replacing digital micromirror devices,particularly among hobbyists and in educational settings,and is now beginning to be used in industrial ***,LCD-based MIP-VPPsuffers from pronounced pixelated aliasing arising from LCD’s discrete image pixels and itsdirect-contact configuration in MIP-VPP machines,leading to rough surfaces on the 3D-printed ***,we propose a vibration-assisted MIP-VPP method that utilizes a microscalevibration to uniformize the light intensity distribution of the LCD-based mask image on VPP’s building *** maintaining the same fabrication speed,our technique generates asmoother,non-pixelated mask image,reducing the roughness on flat surfaces and boundary segments of 3D-printed *** light intensity modeling and simulation,we derived an optimal vibration pattern for LCD mask images,subsequently validated by *** assessed the surface texture,boundary integrity,and dimensional accuracy of componentsproduced using the vibration-assisted *** notably smoother surfaces and improved boundary roughness enhance the printing quality of MIP-VPP,enabling its promisingapplications in sectors like the production of 3D-printed optical devices and others.

Construction and Research Progress of the chinese Meridian Project in 2022–2023

The chinese Meridian Project(CMP)is a major national science and technology infrastructure constructed in two *** first phase of the CMP has been operating for more than a solar *** 2022 to 2023,utilizing the monitoring data collected by the CMP,scientists made major breakthroughs in fields of ionosphere,middle and upper atmosphere,and coupling between *** construction of the second phase of the CMP is nearly finished,and the project is expected to operate as a whole in 2025 after national acceptance of the second *** whole project was built in an architecture of so-called“One Chain,Three Networks and Four Focuses”.It is promising to make a three-dimensional observation of the whole solar-terrestrial *** science community is looking forward to the great contribution of the CMP to space weather and space physics research.

Identifying Brand Consistency by Product Differentiation Using CNN

This paper presents a new method of using a convolutional neural network(CNN)in machine learning to identify brand consistency by product appearance *** Experiment 1,we collected fifty mouse devices from the past thirty-five years from a renowned company to build a dataset consisting of product pictures with pre-defined design features of their appearance and *** show that it is a challenge to distinguish periods for the subtle evolution of themouse devices with such traditionalmethods as time series analysis and principal component analysis(PCA).In Experiment 2,we applied deep learning to predict the extent to which the product appearance variation ofmouse devices of various *** investigation collected 6,042 images ofmouse devices and divided theminto the Early Stage and the Late *** show the highest accuracy of 81.4%with the CNNmodel,and the evaluation score of brand style consistency is 0.36,implying that the brand consistency score converted by the CNN accuracy rate is not always perfect in the real *** relationship between product appearance variation,brand style consistency,and evaluation score is beneficial for predicting new product styles and future product style *** addition,the CNN heat maps highlight the critical areas of design features of different styles,providing alternative clues related to the blurred *** study provides insights into practical problems for designers,manufacturers,and marketers in product *** not only contributes to the scientific understanding of design development,but also provides industry professionals with practical tools and methods to improve the design process and maintain brand *** can use these techniques to find features that influence brand ***,capture these features as innovative design elements and maintain core brand values.

Performance Study of a Novel Ejector-Cascade Refrigeration System with Regenerator

In this paper,a novel NH_(3)/CO_(2)ejector-cascade refrigeration system with regenerator is proposed,which can recycle the waste heat at the outlet of the *** establishing the mathematical model of the system,the theoretical energy and exergy analysis are carried out and compared with the conventional cascade refrigeration *** is concluded that compared with the conventional cascade refrigeration system,the novel ejector-cascade refrigeration system with regenerator has the advantages of less power consumption of the compressor,less component exergy destruction,high system performance,and is more suitable for working at a lower *** the working conditions studied in this paper,compared with the conventional cascade refrigeration system,the COP of the novel ejector-cascade refrigeration system with regenerator is increased by9.58%;the exergy efficiency is increased by 9.50%,and the optimal evaporation temperature is about-45℃.
