Carbon isotope compositions of both sedimentary carbonate and organic matter can be used as key proxies of the global carbon cycle and of its evolution through time,as long as they are acquired from waters where the dissolved inorganic carbon(DIC)is in isotope equilibrium with the atmospheric ***,in shallow water platforms and epeiric settings,the influence of local to regional parameters on carbon cycling may lead to DIG isotope variations unrelated to the global carbon *** may be especially true for the terminal Neoproterozoic,when Gondwana assembly isolated waters masses from the global ocean,and extreme positive and negative carbon isotope excursions are recorded,potentially decoupled from global *** improve our understanding on the type of information recorded by these excursions,we investigate the pairedδ^13Ccarb andδ^13Corg evolution for an increasingly restricted late Ediacaran-Cambrian foreland system in the West Gondwana interior:the basal Bambui *** succession represents a 1~(st)-order sedimentary sequence and records two majorδ^13Ccarb excursions in its two lowermost lower-rank *** basal cap carbonate interval at the base of the first sequence,deposited when the basin was connected to the ocean,hosts antithetical negative and positive excursions forδ^13Ccarb andδ^13Corg,respectively,resulting inΔ^13C values lower than 25‰.From the top of the basal sequence upwards,an extremely positiveδ^13Ccarb excursion is coupled toδ^13Corg,reaching values of+14‰and-14‰,*** positive excursion represents a remarkable basin-wide carbon isotope feature of the Bambui Group that occurs with only minor changes inΔ^13C values,suggesting change in the DIC isotope *** argue that this regional isotopic excursion is related to a disconnection between the intrabasinal and the global carbon *** extreme carbon isotope excursion may have been a product of a disequilibria between the basin DIC and atmospheric CO2

There is a strong evidence supporting the hypothesis of synaptic dysfunction as a major contributor to neural circuit and network disruption underlying emotional and mood dysregulation in psychiatric disorders(simmons et al.,2024).Diverse sets of distinct molecular signaling pathways converge on the synapse to regulate synaptogenesis,synaptic function,and synaptic plasticity in brain regions and circuits through complex interactions organized by numerous multivalent protein scaffolds,including the family of proteins known as A-kinase anchoring proteins(AKAPs).

The benefits of regular physical activity are well ***,few studies have examined the effectiveness of integrating physical activity(PA)into curricula within a post-secondary *** investigate the incorporation of PA into medical curriculum,we developed a series of optional exercise-based review sessions designed to reinforce musculoskeletal(MsK)anatomy course *** synchronous sessions were co-taught by a group fitness instructor and an anatomy *** fitness instructor would lead students through both strength and yoga style exercises,while the anatomy instructor asked questions about relevant anatomical structures related to course material previously *** the sessions,participants were asked to evaluate the classes on their self-reported exam preparedness in improving MsK anatomy knowledge,PA levels,and mental *** participants completed surveys;a majority agreed that the classes increased understanding of MsK concepts(90.0%)and activity levels(97.7%).Many(70.0%)felt that the classes helped reduce *** majority of respondents(90.0%)agreed that the classes contributed to increased feelings of social ***,medical students saw benefit in PA based interventions to supplement MsK course *** with increasing activity levels and promoting health behaviours,integrating PA into medical curriculum may improve comprehension of learning material,alleviate stress and foster social connectivity among medical students.

The assessment of detrital zircon age records is a key method in basin analysis,but it is prone to several biases that may compromise accurate sedimentary provenance *** to ultrahigh temperature(HT-UHT)metamorphism(especially if T>850℃)is herein presented as a natural cause of bias in provenance studies based on U-Pb detrital zircon ages,since zircon from rocks submitted to these extreme and often prolonged conditions frequently yield protracted,apparently concordant,geochronological *** age spreading can result from disturbance of the primary U-Pb zircon system,likewise from(re)crystallization processes during multiple and/or prolonged metamorphic *** this contribution,available geochronological data on Archean,Neoproterozoic and Palaeozoic HT-UHT metamorphic rocks,acquired by different techniques(sIMs and lA-ICP-Ms)and showing distinct compositions,are reassessed to demonstrate HT-UHT metamorphism may result in modes and age distributions of unclear geological *** a consequence,it may induce misinterpretations on UPb detrital zircon provenance analyses,particularly in sedimentary rocks metamorphosed under such extreme temperature *** evaluate the presence of HT-UHT metamorphism-related bias in the detrital zircon record,we suggest a workflow for data acquisition and interpretation,combining a multi-proxy approach with:(i)in situ U-Pb dating coupled with Hf analyses to retrieve the isotopic composition of the sources,and(ii)the integration of a petrochronological investigation to typify fingerprints of the HT-UHT metamorphic *** proposed workflow is validated in the investigation of one theoretical and one natural example allowing a better characterization of the sedimentary sources,maximum depositional ages,and the tectonic setting of the *** workflow allows to the appraisal of biases imposed by HT-UHT metamorphism and resulting disturbances in the U-Pb detrital zircon record,particularly for sedimentary

Indirect calorimetry to estimate energy requirements for growing and finishing Nellore bulls

Determination of nutritional requirements is the basis for diet formulation. The objectives of this study were to determine the net energy requirements for maintenance （NEro） and weight gain （NEg） in Nellore bulls during the growing and finishing phases, and to estimate efficiency of metabolizable energy （ME） utilization for maintenance and gain （km, kg）. Five Nellore bulls were housed in individual pens at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais （Belo Horizonte, Brazil） and evaluated over four experimental periods at 210, 315,378 and 454 kg shrunk body weight （sBW）, approximately. During each period, heat production （HP） was quantified by open circuit indirect calorimetry for three feeding levels： ad libitum, restricted and fasting. The NEm requirement was determined by linear regression between the log of HP andthe ME intake （MEI） for the ad libitum and restricted levels. This requirement was also determined by quantifying fasting heat production （FHP）. The NEQ requirement was calculated by the difference between MEI and HP during ad libitum feeding. The k and kg were calculated by the relationship between net energy （NE） and ME requirements for maintenance and weight gain （MEm, MEp）, respectively. The NEm requirements per kg of metabolic empty body weight （EBW0.75） fluctuated between 348 and 517 kJ d-1, showing a decreasing trend with age, and were higher than the values reported in the literature. The NEg requirements ranged between 48.3 and 164 kJ kg-1 EBW0.75 d-1, and varied according to age and weight gain. The k values varied between 58.6 and 69.7%, while kg varied between 23.4 and 40.2%. We concluded that NEm and NEg requirements were influenced by age and possibly by the level of stress, nervousness and activity of animals into the respirometry chamber. Further studies should quantify HP with records of positional changes （time spent standing vs. lying down）.
