Construction of dual Z-scheme Bi2WO6/g-C_(3)N_(4)/black phosphorus quantum dots composites for effective bisphenol A degradation

In this work,a novel dual Z-scheme Bi_(2)WO_(6)/g-C_(3)N_(4)/black phosphorus quantum dots(Bi_(2)WO_(6)/g-C_(3)N_(4)/BPQDs)composites were fabricated and utilized towards photocatalytic degradation of bisphenol A(BPA)under visible-light irradiation.Optimizing the content of g-C_(3)N_(4) and BPQDs in Bi_(2)WO_(6)/g-C_(3)N_(4)/BPQDs composites to a suitable mass ratio can enhance the visible-light harvesting capacity and increase the charge separation efficiency and the transfer rate of excited-state electrons and holes,resulting in much higher photocatalytic activity for BPA degradation(95.6%,at 20 mg/L in 120 min)than that of Bi2WO6(63.7%),g-C_(3)N_(4)(25.0%),BPQDs(8.5%),and Bi_(2)WO_(6)/g-C_(3)N_(4)(79.6%),respectively.Radical trapping experiments indicated that photogenerated holes(h+)and superoxide radicals(•O_(2)−)played crucial roles in photocatalytic BPA degradation.Further,the possible degradation pathway and photocatalytic mechanism was proposed by analyzing the BPA intermediates.Thiswork also demonstrated that the Bi2WO6/g-C_(3)N_(4)/BPQDs as effective photocatalystswas stable and have promising potential to remove environmental contaminants from real water samples.

Similar to Nomizu-Pinkall’s geometric characterization of the Cayley surface and Hu-LiZhang’s characterization of the Cayley hypersurface, how can one characterize the generalized Cayley hypersurfaces? In this paper, by the affine α-connection of statistical manifolds, we study affine hypersurfaces with parallel cubic form relative to the affine α-connection. As the main results, we complete the classification of such hypersurfaces if its affine metric is either definite, or Lorentzian with α≠-1.Moreover, we give a new characterization of the generalized Cayley hypersurfaces to answer the question.

The flat clinching process is attracting a growing attention in the joining field of lightweight materials because it avoids the geometric protrusion that appears in the conventional clinching process. In this paper, the effects of sheet thickness and material on the mechanical properties of the clinched joint were studied. Al1060 and Al2024 sheets with 2 mm thickness were employed to develop the clinched joint by using different material configurations, and Al1060 sheets with 2.5- and 1.5-mm thicknesses were used to produce the clinched joint by using different thickness configurations. The clinched joints using various sheet configurations were sectioned, and dimensional analysis was conducted. Cross-tensile and shearing tests were carried out to analyze the mechanical properties of the clinched joint, including tensile strength, shearing strength, and absorbed energy. In addition, the failure modes of the clinched joints were discussed. Results indicated that the clinched joint with a stiff top sheet had increased static strength regardless of the test type. The clinched joint with a thick top sheet demonstrated lower static strength than the joint with a thick bottom sheet in the cross-tensile test. However, this result was reversed in the shearing tests. The flat clinching process has a great potential in joining dissimilar and various thickness materials.

Enhancement of oligodendrocyte autophagy alleviates white matter injury and cognitive impairment induced by chronic cerebral hypoperfusion in rats

Cognitive impairment caused by chronic cerebral hypoperfusion(CCH)is associated with white matter injury(WMI),possibly through the alteration of autophagy.Here,the autophagy—lysosomal pathway(ALP)dysfunction in white matter(WM)and its relationship with cognitive impairment were investigated in rats subjected to two vessel occlusion(2VO).The results showed that cognitive impairment occurred by the 28th day after 2VO.Injury and autophagy activation of mature oligodendrocytes and neuronal axons sequentially occurred in WM by the 3rd day.By the 14th day,abnormal accumulation of autophagy substrate,lysosomal dysfunction,and the activation of mechanistic target of rapamycin(MTOR)pathway were observed in WM,paralleled with mature oligodendrocyte death.This indicates autophagy activation was followed by ALP dysfunction caused by autophagy inhibition or lysosomal dysfunction.To target the ALP dysfunction,enhanced autophagy by systemic rapamycin treatment or overexpression of Beclin1(BECN1)in oligodendrocytes reduced mature oligodendrocyte death,and subsequently alleviated the WMI and cognitive impairment after CCH.These results reveal that early autophagy activation was followed by ALP dysfunction in WM after 2VO,which was associated with the aggravation of WMI and cognitive impairment.This study highlights that alleviating ALP dysfunction by enhancing oligodendrocyte autophagy has benefits for cognitive recovery after CCH.

The cheap commercial activated carbon (AC) was improved through the secondary activation under steam in the presence of FeCl2 catalyst in the temperature range of 800-950℃ and its application in electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs) with organic electrolyte was studied. The re-activation of AC results in the increases in both specific capacitance and high rate capability of EDLCs. For AC treated under optimized conditions, its discharge specific capacitance increases up to 55.65 F/g, an increase of about 33% as compared to the original AC, and the high rate capability was increased significantly. The good performances of EDLC with improved AC were correlated to the increasing mesoporous ratio.

Sulfurized polyacrylonitrile(S@pPAN)composite provides a conductive pathway for sulfur active material at the molecular level and has already become one of the most promising cathode materials in lithium-sulfur batteries because of its outstanding electrochemical performances via novel solid-solid conversion mechanism.Although there are a great number of researches on the S@pPAN composite material,the accurate structure of S@pPAN and its redox reaction mechanism during the charge-discharge process still have not been determined.The previous research and inferences about the structure of S@pPAN and its electrochemical reaction mechanism were summarized in this review,providing a reference for the future study of lithiumsulfur batteries.

The promoter effects of rare earth ions on the electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol at the Pt electrode were studied using the cyclic voltammetry and stable polarization techniques. It was found for the first time that Eu、Ho、Dy ions could accelerate the electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol at the Pt electrode, while Lu、Pr、Yb、Sm ions showed inhibitor effects.
