Interface interaction between SiO_(2) and magnetite under high temperature:particle migration and inhibition mechanism

Magnesium-containing pellet regulating blast furnace ferrous burden interaction:softening-melting behavior and mechanism

MgO participates in all stages of sintering,pelletizing,and blast furnace ironmaking,and synergistically optimizing the distribution of MgO in ferrous burden can effectively enhance the interaction within the ferrous burdens and optimize the softening-melting properties of the mixed ***-containing pellets mixed with low-MgO sinter or mixed with high-MgO sinter in the blast furnace ferrous burden structure have opposite softening-melting performance *** the structure of the ferrous burden is magnesium-containing pellets mixed with low-MgO sinter,the magnesium-containing pellets can enhance the interaction of the ferrous burden in the process of softening-melting,which can optimize the composition of the slag phase and improve the slag *** the structure of the ferrous burden is magnesium-containing pellets mixed with high-MgO sinter,the magnesium-containing pellets weaken the interaction of the ferrous burden in the process of softening-melting,increase the content of the high melting point solid-phase particles in the slag,lead to an increase in the viscosity of the slag and difficult separation of the slag and iron,and decrease the permeability of the charge ***,to ensure good permeability of the mixed burden,the following measures are suggested:optimizing the MgO distribution of the ferrous burden,reducing the MgO content of the sinter to 1.96 wt.%,increasing the MgO content of the pellets to 1.03-1.30 wt.%,controlling the MgO/Al_(2)O_(3) ratio of the mixed burden within 1.15-1.32,narrowing the position of the cohesive zone,and maintaining an S value(permeability index)of approximately 150 kPa℃.

Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/Akt pathway regulates hepatic stellate cell apoptosis

AIM: To investigate the role of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI 3-K)/Akt signaling pathway in the balance of HSC activation and apoptosis in rat hepatic stellate cells (HSC). METHODS: An activated HSC cell line was used in this study. LY 294002, the PI 3-K/Akt signal pathway block-er was used to investigate the molecular events on apoptosis in HSC and to interpret the role of this path-way in HSC apoptosis. Immunocytochemistry, Western blot and reverse transcription polymerase chain reac-tion (RT-PCR) analysis were applied to detect the ex-pression of PI 3-K, and simultaneously phosphorylated-Akt (p-Akt) and total-Akt were determined by Western blot. The HSC apoptosis was examined by annexin-V/ propidium iodide double-labelled flow cytometry and transmission electron microscopy. RESULTS: The apoptosis rates in LY 294002 (30.82% ± 2.90%) and LY 294002 + PDGF-BB (28.16% ± 2.58%) groups were signif icantly increased compared with those of control (9.02% ± 1.81%) and PDGF-BB (4.35% ± 1.18%). PDGF-BB augmented PI 3-K and p-Akt expres-sion. LY 294002 signif icantly reduced the contents of PI 3-K and p-Akt. mRNA transcription evaluated by RT-PCR showed similar tendencies as protein expression. CONCLUSION: Inhibition of PI 3-K/Akt signaling path-way induces apoptosis in HSC.

Dynamic expression of extracellular signal-regulated kinase in rat liver tissue during hepatic fibrogenesis

AIM： To investigate whether extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1 （ERK1） is activated and associated with hepatic stellate cell （HSC） proliferation in fibrotic rat liver tissue.METHODS： Rat hepatic fibrosis was induced by bile duct ligation （BDL）. Histopathological changes were evalo uated by hernatoxylin and eosin staining, and Masson＇ s trichrorne method. ERK1 mRNA in rat liver tissue was determined by reverse transcription-polyrnerase chain reaction, while the distribution of ERK1 was assessed by irnrnunohistochernistry. ERK1 protein was detected by Western blotting analysis. The number of activated HSCs was quantified after alpha smooth muscle actin （α-MA） staining.RESULTS： With the development of hepatic fibrosis, the positive staining cells of α-SMA increased obviously, and mainly resided in the portal ducts. Fiber sepia and perisinuses were accompanied with proliferating bile ducts. The positive staining areas of the rat livers in model groups 1-4 wk after ligation of common bile duct （12.88% ± 2.63%, 22.65% ± 2.16%, 27.45% ± 1.86%, 35.25% ± 2.34%, respectively） were significantly larger than those in the control group （5.88% ± 1.46%, P 〈 0.01）. With the development of hepatic fibrosis, the positive cells of ERK1 increased a lot, and were mainly distributed in portal ducts, fiber sepia around the bile ducts, vascular endothelial cells and perisinusoidal cells. Western blotting analysis displayed that the expression of ERK1 and ERK1 protein was up-regulated during the model course, and its level was the highest 4 wk after operation, being 3.9-fold and 7.2-fold higher in fibrotic rat liver than in controls. ERK1 mRNA was expressed in normal rat livers as well, which was up-regulated two days after BDL and reached the highest 4 wk after BDL.
