The three-dimensional(3 D) structures of pores directly affect the CH4 ***,it is very important to analyze the3 D spatial structure of pores and to simulate the CH4 flow with the connected pores as the *** result shows that the equivalent radius of pores and throats are 1-16 μm and 1.03-8.9 μm,respectively,and the throat length is 3.28-231.25 μ*** coordination number of pores concentrates around three,and the intersection point between the connectivity function and the X-axis is 3-4 μm,which indicate the macro-pores have good *** the single-channel flow,the pressure decreases along the direction of CH4 flow,and the flow velocity of CH4 decreases from the pore center to the *** the dual-channel and the multi-channel flows,the pressure also decreases along the CH4 flow direction,while the velocity *** mean flow pressure gradually decreases with the increase of the distance from the inlet *** change of mean flow pressure is relatively stable in the direction horizontal to the bedding plane,while it is relatively large in the direction perpendicular to the bedding *** mean flow velocity in the direction horizontal to the bedding plane(Y-axis) is the largest,followed by that in the direction horizontal to the bedding plane(X-axis),and the mean flow velocity in the direction perpendicular to the bedding plane is the smallest.

Numerical simulation of enhancing coalbed methane recovery by injecting CO_2 with heat injection

The technology used to enhance coalbed methane(CBM) recovery by injecting CO_2(CO_2-ECBM) with heat, combining heat injection with CO_2 injection, is still in its infancy; therefore, theoretical studies of this CO_2-ECBM technology should be perused. First, the coupling equations of the di usion–adsorption–seepage–heat transfer fields of gas are established. The displacement processes under di erent pressures and temperatures are simulated by COMSOL. Finally, the displacement effects, a comparison of the CO_2 storage capacity with the CH_4 output and the e ective influencing radius of CO_2 injection are analyzed and discussed. The results show that(1) the displacement pressure and temperature are two key factors influencing the CH_4 output and the CO_2 storage capacity, and the increase in the CO_2 storage capacity is more sensitive to temperature and pressure than the CH_4 output.(2) The gas flow direction is from the injection hole to the discharge hole during the displacement process, and the regions with high velocity are concentrated at the injection hole and the discharge hole.(3) A reduction in the CH_4 concentration and an increase in the CO_2 concentration are obvious during the displacement process.(4) The e ective influencing radius of injecting CO_2 with heat increases with the increase in time and pressure. The relationship between the e ective influencing radius and the injection time of CO_2 has a power exponential function, and there is a linear relationship between the functional coe cient and the injection pressure of CO_2. This numerical simulation study on enhancing CBM recovery by injecting CO_2 with heat can further promote the implementation of CO_2-ECBM project in deep coal seams.

Pores and fractures and their connectivity play a significant role in coalbed methane *** investigate the growth characteristics and connectivity of pores and fractures in coal parallel and perpendicular to the bedding plane,the pores and fractures of high-rank coal samples collected from the southern Qinshui Basin were measured by low-field nuclear magnetic resonance,X-ray-computed tomography and field emission scanning electron ***,the determinants of their connectivity were further *** results show that the high-rank coal samples have similar pore size distributions both parallel and perpendicular to the bedding *** primarily contain mesopores(2-50 nm in width),followed by macrospores(> 50 nm in width).The research indicated that the high-rank coal connectivity parallel to the bedding plane is significantly better than that perpendicular to the bedding *** connectivity of high-rank coal is mainly determined by throats,and the orientation of the pores and *** two connectivity modes in high-rank coal are "pore connectivity," in which the throats are mainly pores with a low coordination number,and "microfissure connectivity",in which the throats are mainly microfissures with a high coordination number.

The analysis of the coupling mechanism of thermal-hydraulic-mechanical(THM)fields,and solid-liquidgas(SLG)phases during gas extraction process is of profound significance to explore its numerical application in the gas occurrence regularity and its effective extraction *** this study,the Hudi coal mine in Qinshui basin is taken as the research area,the influencing factors of gas occurrence were analyzed,the differences in overburden load for gas pressure distribution and the factors influencing the effective extraction radius were further discussed by using the COMSOL *** results show that the derivation of mathematical model in gas extraction shows that the process is a process the THM fields restrict each other,and the SLG phases influence each *** longer the extraction time,the larger the influencing range of borehole,and the better the extraction *** larger the diameter of borehole,the larger the effective extraction radius,and the influence on gas extraction effect is smaller in the early stage and larger in the late *** borehole arrangement should be flexibly arranged according to the actual extraction *** higher the porosity,the higher the permeability,the better the gas extraction *** larger the overburden load of reservoir,the stronger the effective stress,which will result in the more severe the strain,and the closure of pore and fracture,which in turn will lead to the decrease of permeability and slow down the gas *** relationship among extraction time,borehole diameter,negative pressure of gas extraction,permeability with effective extraction radius is *** study has important theoretical and practical significance for clarifying and summarizing the gas occurrence regularity and its engineering practice.

Recombinant fibronectin polypeptide antagonizes hepatic failure induced by endotoxin in mice

AIM: To study the preventive effect of recombinant human fibronectin (rhFN) polypeptide on hepatic failure in- duced by endotoxin in mice. METHODS: A cDNA fragment coding for Ile1363-Tyr1725 of human FN was inserted into the PinPoint Xa-3 plasmid, and the constructed plasmid was transformed into E coli BL21 (DE3) cells, and then the expression of rhFN polypeptide in DE3 cells was identified through SDS-PAGE. The target protein from the supernatant of bacteria lysate was purified through biotin-affinity chromatography. The bioactivity of the purified rhFN polypeptide was determined with cell adhesiveactivity. The survival rate was observed in endotoxemia mice injected with rhFN polypeptide. The tissue damage in hepatocyte was detected using histology, ultrastructure, and DNA fragmentation assay. RESULTS: The expression of rhFN polypeptide reached approximately 20 % of the total cellular protein. The adhesion ability of rhFN polypeptide was concentration-dependent. The value of EC50 was 0.8 nmol/L. The survival rate of endotoxemia mice sensitized by D-galactosamine (D-GalN) was 60 % in rhFN polypeptide treated group, while that of endotoxemia mice sensitized by D-GalN was 20 % in the control group (P<0.01). Histopathology showed that less necrosis occurred on the hepatocyte of endotoxemia mice in- jected with rhFN polypeptide compared with saline control. Ultrastructure and DNA fragmentation assay showed that no apoptotic hepatocyte was observed in the liver of rhFN-treated endotoxemia mice. CONCLUSION: Re- combinant fibronectin polypeptide antagonizes hepatic failure induced by endotoxin in mice.

SEVEN CASES OF EPITHELIAL OVARIAN CARCINOMA WITH BRAIN METASTASIS

Objective To summarize the clinical characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of brain metastasis in patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma. Metbods Retrospective analysis was conducted in 7 cases of brain metastases of epithelial ovarian carcinoma from January 1986 to March 2007 in Peking Union Medical College Hospital for summarizing therapy results and prognosisaffecting factors. Results Incidence of brain metastases of epithelial ovarian carcinoma was about 0. 66% （7/1 055 ）. Serous adenocarcinoma was the predominant pathological type in 4 cases and the subsequent was adenocarcinoma in 3 cases. All the patients were diagnosed at late stage, 6 cases with the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics （HGO） stage Ⅲc and 1 with FIGO stage IV. The mean duration from diagnosis of ovarian carcinoma to brain metastasis was 32.7 ± 20. 0 months （range, 23-73 months）. Single metastasis focus occurred in 43% of cases and multiple metastases in 57% of cases. Fifty-seven percent of patients presented extracranial metastasis. Serum CA125 played a role in monitoring reoccur- rence and brain metastases. The average survival time was about 12 months. Better treatment with prolonged survival could be achieved by combination of operation and chemotherapy or combination of radiotherapy with chemotherapy. Concltusions As a rare condition, brain metastasis of epithelial ovarian carcinoma is rising in incidence with improved treatment of ovarian carcinoma and prolonged survival. However, brain metastasis indicates bad prognosis which can be improved by combined therapy.

PHASE Ⅱ STUDY OF GEMCITABINE COMBINED WITH PLATINUM CHEMOTHERAPY FOR RECURRENT EPITHELIAL OVARIAN CANCER

Objective To evaluate the anti-tumor effect and toxicity of gemcitabine combined with platinum chemotherapy on recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer. Methods Phase Ⅱ study of gemcitabine combined with platinum chemotherapy was carried out in 22 patients with recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer. Median age of patients was 50. 5 years old. Seven patients were platinum-sensitive and 15 patients were platinum-resistant or -refractory. All patients received gemcitabine combined with carboplatin or oxa/iplatin chemotherapy. Patients＇ response rate （RR） and toxicity of gemcitabine combined with platinum chemotherapy were evaluated. Results A total of 98 gemcitabine-based chemotherapy cycles were performed. Total RR was 36. 4%, RR of platinum-sensitive patients was 4/7 and platinum-resistant and -refractory patients was 4/15. The estimated median survival time was 10.0 months （95% CI. 7.0-13.0） after initiation of gemcitabine combined with platinum chemotherapy. There was no significant difference in survival time between platinum-resistant/refractory group and platinum-sensitive group （P = 0. 061 ）. Side effects of gemcitabine combined with platinum chemotherapy were observed in 81.8% of patients. Grade Ⅱ/Ⅲ anemia （54. 5% ） and grade Ⅲ/Ⅳ neutropenia （54. 5% ） were most common toxicities. Ten （45.5%） patients had to delay their chemotherapy cycles or reduce the dose of chemotherapeutic drugs because of the severe side effects. Fourteen （63.6%） patients received granulocyte colony-stimulating factor to relieve neutropenia, and 8 （ 36. 4% ） patients received component blood transfusion to treat anemia or thrombocytopenia. There was no treatment-associated death. Conclusion Gemcitabine combined with platinum chemotherapy appears to be an effective and well-tolerant treatment for recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer, including platinum-resistant or -refractory diseases.
