Objective To investigate the prevalence of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in China type 2 diabetic patients and to demonstrate the relationships between putative risk factors and PAD. Methods In total 1 397 type 2 diabetic patients aged 50 years and older were enrolled and determined ankle-brachial index (ABI) and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) in 15 Class III Grade A hospitals in 7 major cities of China. Results Mean patient age was 63.7±8.2 years and mean duration of diabetes mellitus was 9.39±7.4 years. Two hundreds and seventy-two (19.47%) patients were diagnosed as PAD by ABI litus, higher hemoglobin Alc, and a significantly lower mean body mass index than non-PAD ones. Aging, smoking, and systolic blood pressure were found to be positively related with the prevalence of PAD. In terms of lipid profiles, no variable was found to relate with PAD. Notably, baPWV showed as the same significant guiding index for PAD, almost matched with ABI. Conclusions PAD is a common complication in China type 2 diabetic patients. Therefore, PAD screening and treatment should be emphasized for diabetic patients with high risk factors.

An Efficient Multifunctional Soluble Catalyst for li-O_(2) Batteries

Aprotic lithium-oxygen(li-O_(2))batteries have a high theoretical energy density,but they face challenges such as cathode blockage,high charge overpotential,and poor cycling *** are caused by sluggish reaction kinetics and severe parasitic *** the performance of li-O_(2) batteries necessitates the development of efficient *** catalysts not only augment both the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)but also inhibit undesirable parasitic *** this work,we demonstrated for the first time a multifunctional soluble catalyst of iridium(III)acetylacetonate(Ir(acac)_(3))that could speed up oxygen ***(acac)_(3) regulated the ORR pathway and the reactivity of superoxide radical species by forming a reversible intermediate complex(Ir(acac)_(3)-O_(2)^(−)).During charging,Ir(acac)_(3) acted as a redox mediator and aided in li_(2)O_(2) decomposition by reacting with superoxide ***,as demonstrated by operando UV-visible spectroscopy,the lower charge potential significantly reduced the generation of highly reactive singlet oxygen(^(1)O_(2))*** a result,the Ir(acac)_(3)-mediated li-O_(2) battery showed low overpotential,large capacity,and stable *** study offers a new approach to achieving efficient li-O_(2) batteries and provides an opportunity to suppress parasitic reactions.

Optimal replication strategy for mitigating burst traffic in information-centric satellite networks: a focus on remote sensing image transmission

Information-centric satellite networks play a crucial role in remote sensing applications,particularly in the transmission of remote sensing ***,the occurrence of burst traffic poses significant challenges in meeting the increased bandwidth *** content delivery networks are ill-equipped to handle such bursts due to their pre-deployed *** this paper,we propose an optimal replication strategy for mitigating burst traffic in information-centric satellite networks,specifically focusing on the transmission of remote sensing *** strategy involves selecting the most optimal replication delivery satellite node when multiple users subscribe to the same remote sensing content within a short time,effectively reducing network transmission data and preventing throughput degradation caused by burst traffic *** formulate the content delivery process as a multi-objective optimization problem and apply Markov decision processes to determine the optimal value for burst traffic *** address these challenges,we leverage federated reinforcement learning ***,we use bloom filters with subdivision and data identification methods to enable rapid retrieval and encoding of remote sensing *** software-based simulations using a low Earth orbit satellite constellation,we validate the effectiveness of our proposed strategy,achieving a significant 17%reduction in the average delivery *** paper offers valuable insights into efficient content delivery in satellite networks,specifically targeting the transmission of remote sensing images,and presents a promising approach to mitigate burst traffic challenges in information-centric environments.

A universal performance-enhancing method for li-S batteries:the cathode material of li_(2)S@li_(2)S_(2)@li_(2)S_(6) double-shell structure

lithium sulfide(li_(2)S)as a cathode material for lithium-sulfur(li-S)batteries,one of the most promising advanced batteries in the future,has received tremendous attention in the past ***,developing the practical li_(2)S cathode confronts challenges of low conductivity for li-ions and electrons,high sensitivity to environmental moisture,big overpotential barrier to electrochemical activation,and poor cyclability due to the shuttle effect of intermediate *** article herein reports a simple and effective strategy for making li_(2)S@li_(2)S_(2)@li_(2)S_(6) double-shelled microparticles,which can significantly mitigate these *** are synthesized by dissolving li2S together with S in dimethoxyethane,then drying off the solvent,and finally calcining the collected *** with pure li_(2)S,such a double-shell material presents a 26.7% improvement in cycling capacity,0.5 V lower in activation overpotential,and prolonged tolerance in the ambient *** density functional theory calculation shows that the performance enhancement lies in the higher stability of li2S6in contact with moisture and some autocatalytic effect of li_(2)S_(2)@li_(2)S_(6).Such a double-shell structure becomes a universal performanceenhancing approach when being combined with other means,such as cathodes composited with catalytic MoS_(2),separators modified with selenium-doped sulfurized-polyacrylonitrile/montmorillonite,electrolytes containing fluorenone additive,and li anodes coated with a layer of li_(3)*** corresponding capacity retention shows up to 80%improvement compared with pure li_(2)S.

lignin,an abundant aromatic polymer in nature,has received significant attention for its potential in the production of bio-oils and chemicals owing to increased resource availability and environmental *** hydrodeoxygenation of guaiacol,a lignin-derived monomer,can produce cyclohexanol,a nylon precursor,in a carbon-negative and environmentally friendly *** study explored the porous properties and the effects of activation methods on the Ru-based catalyst supported by environmentally friendly and cost-effective *** selective cleavage of C_(ary)-O bonds was achieved under mild conditions(160°C,0.2 MPa H_(2),and 4 h),and alkali activation further improved the catalytic *** characterization methods revealedthat hydrothermal treatment and alkali activation relatively contributed to the excellent performance of the catalysts and influenced their porous structure and Ru dispersion.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results revealed an increased formation of metallic ruthenium,indicating the effective regulation of interaction between active sites and *** synergistic approach used in this study,involving the valorization of cellulose-derived hydrochar and the selective production of nylon precursors from lignin-derived guaiacol,indicated the comprehensive and sustainable utilization of biomass resources.

Accurate measurement of the three-dimensional(3D)movement of discrete particles is crucial for comprehending complex granular rheology in *** this paper,the acceleration and angular velocity of particles in 3D silos are measured by using a spherical detector based on inertial technology and magnetic positioning *** acceleration of particles is the largest in the center of silos,which suggest that the resistance generated by friction and extrusion is the ***,the angular velocity distribution follows lognormal function except for particles near the *** correlation between acceleration and angular velocity is opposite in different flow *** reveals for the first time that the extent to which the resultant force on the particles affects their rotational motion is related to the flow *** results have practical significance for regulating the granular flow pattern and optimizing the structural design of silos.

Mesoscopic superconducting islands hosting Majorana zero modes(MZMs),or Majorana islands in short,offer a prototype of topological *** this work we investigate theoretically the model of a generic Majorana island tunneling-coupled to a singlepiece metallic substrate,hence an embedded Majorana *** show the crucial consequences of an interplay between the topological ground states nonlocally addressed by the MZMs and the metallic bath with coherent electron propagation:on the one hand,the topological degeneracy on the Majorana island can be preserved,by virtue of the particle-hole symmetry,despite the apparent bath-induced coupling between MZMs;on the other hand,the electronic interference in the metallic bath may lead to profound alterations to the renormalization group behavior of the hybrid system towards low energy/temperature compared with conventional Kondo *** work serves to establish the model of embedded Majorana islands as an experimentally relevant and theoretically intriguing problem particularly in the direction of topological quantum computation.

Estimation of tunnel axial orientation in the interlayered rock mass using a comprehensive algorithm

The axial selection of tunnels constructed in the interlayered soft-hard rock mass affects the stability and safety during *** optimization is primarily based on experience or comparison and selection of alternative values under specific geological *** this work,an intelligent optimization framework has been proposed by combining numerical analysis,machine learning(ML)and optimization *** automatic and intelligent numerical analysis process was proposed and coded to reduce redundant manual *** conventional optimization algorithm was developed from two aspects and applied to the hyperparameters estimation of the support vector machine(SVM)model and the axial orientation optimization of the ***,the comprehensive framework was applied to a numerical case study,and the results were compared with those of other *** results of this study indicate that the determination coefficients between the predicted and the numerical stability evaluation indices(STIs)on the training and testing datasets are 0.998 and 0.997,*** a given geological condition,the STI that changes with the axial orientation shows the trend of first decreasing and then increasing,and the optimal tunnel axial orientation is estimated to be 87.This method provides an alternative and quick approach to the overall design of the tunnels.
