The metal-based additive manufacturing(AM),also referred to as metal 3D printing,has drawn particular interest because it enables direct creation,aided by computationally-directed path design,of intricate components with site-specific compositions and geometrical requirements as well as low buy-to-fly *** the last two decades,the objective of this revolutionary technology has been shifting from only“rapid prototyping”to advanced manufacturing of special high-end products or devices,which,in many aspects,outperform conventional manufacturing *** fusion-based AM,significant progress has been achieved in understanding the processing window of macroscopic scales,non-equilibrium metallurgy of mesoscale scales,and grain evolution of microscopic *** the versatile capacity of AM facilitates new avenues for discovering advanced materials and structures,their potential has still not been fully *** the unique non-equilibrium solidification during the AM process,coarse columnar grains with strong textures are usually developed along the build direction,which downgrades the mechanical *** push the limits of this digital manufacturing,this review attempts to provide in-depth and comprehensive overviews of the recent progress in understanding the evolution and control of the as-built microstructure that has been made recently and the challenges encountered during the AM process.

OBJECTIVE: To examine changes in the morphology and physiological functions of human proximal tubular epithelial cells (HK-2 cells) caused by total Dahuang (Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei Palmati) anthraquinones (TDA) and emodin. METHODS: HK-2 cells were cultured on polycarbonate (PCF) membranes to form a complete monolayer of cells. A fluorescein isothiocyanate- dextran (FITC) permeability assay was conducted and secretion of γ-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAG) and kidney injury molecule 1 (KIM-1) was examined. The reabsorption of glucose and the excretion of para-aminohippuric acid (PAH) by HK-2 cells were also examined. The morphology of HK-2 cells was observed using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The cytoskeleton of HK-2 cells was observed under a fluorescence microscope. RESULTS: Compared with the results for the dimethyl sulfoxide group, treatment of cells with TDA and emodin showed statistically significant differences in the FITC leakage rate, the apical / basolateral ratio of LDH and GGT, and the secretion of GGT, LDH, NAG and KIM-1. At 64 μg/mL, TDA markedly inhibited blood glucose reabsorption and remarkably suppressed PAH excretion by HK-2 cells. Both TDA and emodin caused various degrees of damage to the morphology and cytoskeleton of HK-2 cells with the degree of damage correlating positively with the dosage of the tested ***: Both TDA and emodin caused damage to human renal proximal tubular epithelial cells at certain dosages. At the same dosage, TDA caused more severe damage than emodin to the HK-2 cells.

Quantum dots boost large-view NIR-II imaging with high fidelity for fluorescence-guided tumor surgery

A synthetical geoengineering approach to evaluate the largest hydraulic fracturing-induced earthquake in the East Shale Basin, Alberta

Evaluation of precipitation hardening in TiC-reinforced Ti_2AlNb-based alloys

Ti2AlNb-based alloys with 0.0 wt%, 0.6 wt%, and 2.0 wt% carbon nanotube（CNT） addition were fabricated from spherical Ti–22 Al–25 Nb powder by sintering in the B2 single-phase region. Phase identification and microstructural examination were performed to evaluate the effect of carbon addition on the hardness of the alloys. Carbon was either in a soluble state or in carbide form depending on its concentration. The acicular carbides formed around 1050℃ were identified as TiC and facilitated the transformation of α2 ＋ B2 → O. The TiC was located within the acicular O phase. The surrounding O phase was distributed in certain orientations with angles of 65° or 90° O phase particles. The obtained alloy was composed of acicular O, Widmanstatten B2 ＋O, and acicular TiC. As a result of the precipitation of carbides as well as the O phase, the hardness of the alloy with 2.0 wt% CNT addition increased to HV 429 ± 9.

Microstructural evolution during the progressive transformation-induced plasticity effect in a Fe-0.1C-5Mnmedium manganese steel

The microstructural evolution of a cold-rolled and intercritical annealed medium-Mn steel(Fe-0.10C-5Mn)was investigated during uniaxial tensile ***-situ observations under scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy,and X-ray diffraction analysis were conducted to characterize the progressive transformation-induced plasticity process and associated fracture initiation *** findings were discussed with the local strain measurements via digital image *** results indicated that Lüders band formation in the steel was limited to 1.5%strain,which was mainly due to the early-stage martensitic phase transformation of a very small amount of the less stable large-sized retained austenite(RA),which led to localized stress concentrations and strain hardening and further retardation of *** small-sized RA exhibited high stability and progressively transformed into martensite and contributed to a stably extended Portevin-Le Chatelier *** volume fraction of RA gradually decreased from 26.8%to 8.2%prior to *** the late deformation stage,fracture initiation primarily occurred at the austenite/martensite and ferrite/martensite interfaces and the ferrite phase.

Ammonia pyrolysis oxidation excited by nanosecond pulsed discharge:Global/fluid models hybrid solution
