Revealing the correlation between structural evolution and long-term cyclability of the LiNi_(0.5)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.3)O_(2)/artificial graphite pouch cells at various rates

In recent years,researches on improving high-voltage performance of lithium-ion batteries incorporating LiNi_(0.5)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.3)O_(2)(NCM523)and artificial graphite(AG)have been widely reported.However,limited attentions have been paid to understand the effects and influence mechanisms of charge and discharge rates and charge limit currents on cyclability of NCM523/AG cells.Herein,a∼1.9 Ah NCM523/AG pouch cell is employed,whose electrochemical and structural evolutions after 800 cycles at various rates are comprehensively investigated.We find that cycling performances are strongly influenced by charge rate,followed by limit current and discharge rate.The cell charged at a high rate and cell charged until reaching a low limit current both exhibit low capacity retentions compared to the cell discharged at a high rate.Possible failure reasons are analyzed by advanced characterizations.Results reveal that NCM523 cathodes of the cells deteriorated early experience severe transition metal dissolution,lattice distortion,and partial phase transformation.Meanwhile,the deposited transition metals on AG anodes catalyze the electrolyte consumption,lithium plating and active area loss.Finally,these side reactions notably increase cell impedance and electrochemical polarization.Undoubtedly,these findings clearly outline the challenges and optimization direction for high-rate NCM523/AG cells.

Differences in insomnia-related self-reported outcomes among elderly hospitalized patients

Insomnia is among the most common sleep disorders worldwide.Insomnia in older adults is a social and public health problem.Insomnia affects the physical and mental health of elderly hospitalized patients and can aggravate or induce physical illnesses.Understanding subjective feelings and providing reasonable and standardized care for elderly hospitalized patients with insomnia are urgent issues.AIM To explore the differences in self-reported outcomes associated with insomnia among elderly hospitalized patients.METHODS One hundred patients admitted to the geriatric unit of our hospital between June 2021 and December 2021 were included in this study.Self-reported symptoms were assessed using the Athens Insomnia Scale(AIS),Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7(GAD-7),Geriatric Depression Scale-15(GDS-15),Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale of Happiness(MUNSH),Barthel Index Evaluation(BI),Morse Fall Scale(MFS),Mini-Mental State Examination,and the Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire(SF-36).Correlation coefficients were used to analyze the correlation between sleep quality and self-reported symptoms.Effects of insomnia was analyzed using Logistic regression analysis.RESULTS Nineteen patients with AIS≥6 were included in the insomnia group,and the incidence of insomnia was 19%(19/100).The remaining 81 patients were assigned to the non-insomnia group.There were significant differences between the two groups in the GDA-7,GDS-15,MUNSH,BI,MFS,and SF-36 items(Pling(P<0.05).Subjective well-being and quality of life were poorer in the insomnia group than in the control group.The AIS scores positively correlated with the GAD-7,GDS-15,and MFS scores in elderly hospitalized patients with insomnia(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that GDS-15≥5 was an independent risk factor for insomnia in elderly hospitalized patients(P<0.05).C

Predictive performance of the variation rate of the driving pressure on the outcome of invasive mechanical ventilation in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome

Purpose:To assess the value of the driving pressure variation rate(ΔP%)in predicting the outcome of weaning from invasive mechanical ventilation in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome.Methods:In this case-control study,a total of 35 patients with moderate-severe acute respiratory distress syndrome were admitted to the intensive care unit between January 2022 and December 2022 and received invasive mechanical ventilation for at least 48 h were enrolled.Patients were divided into successful weaning group and failed weaning group depending on whether they could be removed from ventilator support within 14 days.Outcome measures including driving pressure,PaO2:FiO2,and positive end-expiratory pressure,etc.were assessed every 24 h from day 0 to day 14 until successful weaning was achieved.The measurement data of non-normal distribution were presented as median(Q1,Q3),and the differences between groups were compared by Wilcoxon rank sum test.And categorical data use the Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test to compare.The predictive value ofΔP%in predicting the outcome of weaning from the ventilator was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic curves.Results:Of the total 35 patients included in the study,17 were successful vs.18 failed in weaning from a ventilator after 14 days of mechanical ventilation.The cut-off values of the medianΔP%measured by Operator 1 vs.Operator 2 in the first 4 days were≥4.17%and 4.55%,respectively(p<0.001),with the area under curve of 0.804(sensitivity of 88.2%,specificity of 64.7%)and 0.770(sensitivity of 88.2%,specificity of 64.7%),respectively.There was a significant difference in mechanical ventilation duration between the successful weaning group and the failure weaning group(8(6,13)vs.12(7.5,17.3),p=0.043).The incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia in the successful weaning group was significantly lower than in the failed weaning group(0.2‰vs.2.3‰,p=0.001).There was a significant difference noted between these 2 groups in the 28-day mortality(11.8%vs.66.7%,

This paper studies a class of impulsive neutral stochastic partial differential equations in real Hilbert spaces.The main goal here is to consider the Trotter-Kato approximations of mild solutions of such equations in the pth-mean(p≥2).As an application,a classical limit theorem on the dependence of such equations on a parameter is obtained.The novelty of this paper is that the combination of this approximating system and such equations has not been considered before.

Joint Optimization of Trajectory and Task Offloading for Cellular-Connected Multi-UAV Mobile Edge Computing

Since the computing capacity and battery energy of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) are constrained,UAV as aerial user is hard to handle the high computational complexity and time-sensitive applications.This paper investigates a cellular-connected multi-UAV network supported by mobile edge computing.Multiple UAVs carrying tasks fly from a given initial position to a termination position within a specified time.To handle the large number of tasks carried by UAVs,we propose a energy cost of all UAVs based problem to determine how many tasks should be offloaded to high-altitude balloons(HABs) for computing,where UAV-HAB association,the trajectory of UAV,and calculation task splitting are jointly optimized.However,the formulated problem has nonconvex structure.Hence,an efficient iterative algorithm by applying successive convex approximation and the block coordinate descent methods is put forward.Specifically,in each iteration,the UAV-HAB association,calculation task splitting,and UAV trajectory are alternately optimized.Especially,for the nonconvex UAV trajectory optimization problem,an approximate convex optimization problem is settled.The numerical results indicate that the scheme of this paper proposed is guaranteed to converge and also significantly reduces the entire power consumption of all UAVs compared to the benchmark schemes.

Comparison of the clinical effects of dual-modality endoscopy and traditional laparotomy for the treatment of intra-and extrahepatic bile duct stones

BACKGROUND Bile duct stones(BDSs)may cause patients to develop liver cirrhosis or even liver cancer.Currently,the success rate of surgical treatment for intrahepatic and extrahepatic BDSs is not satisfactory,and there is a risk of postoperative complic-ations.AIM To compare the clinical effects of dual-modality endoscopy(duodenoscopy and laparoscopy)with those of traditional laparotomy in the treatment of intra-and extrahepatic BDSs.METHODS Ninety-five patients with intra-and extrahepatic BDSs who sought medical services at Wuhan No.1 Hospital between August 2019 and May 2023 were selected;45 patients in the control group were treated by traditional laparotomy,and 50 patients in the research group were treated by dual-modality endoscopy.The following factors were collected for analysis:curative effects,safety(incision infection,biliary fistula,lung infection,hemobilia),surgical factors[surgery time,intraoperative blood loss(IBL)volume,gastrointestinal function recovery time,and length of hospital stay],serum inflammatory markers[tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α,interleukin(IL)-6,and IL-8],and oxidative stress[glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),superoxide dismutase(SOD),malondialdehyde(MDA),and advanced protein oxidation products(AOPPs)].RESULTS The analysis revealed markedly better efficacy(an obviously higher total effective rate)in the research group than in the control group.In addition,an evidently lower postoperative complication rate,shorter surgical duration,gastrointestinal function recovery time and hospital stay,and lower IBL volume were observed in the research group.Furthermore,the posttreatment serum inflammatory marker(TNF-α,IL-6,and IL-8)levels were significantly lower in the research group than in the control group.Compared with those in the control group,the posttreatment GSH-Px,SOD,MDA and AOPPs in the research group were equivalent to the pretreatment levels;for example,the GSH-Px and SOD levels were significantly higher,while the MDA and AOPP levels were lower.CONCLUSION Dual-modality endoscopy therap

Cancer,a complex and heterogeneous disease,arises from genomic instability.Currently,DNA damage-based cancer treatments,including radiotherapy and chemotherapy,are employed in clinical practice.However,the efficacy and safety of these therapies are constrained by various factors,limiting their ability to meet current clinical demands.Metal nanoparticles present promising avenues for enhancing each critical aspect of DNA damage-based cancer therapy.Their customizable physicochemical properties enable the development of targeted and personalized treatment platforms.In this review,we delve into the design principles and optimization strategies of metal nanoparticles.We shed light on the limitations of DNA damage-based therapy while highlighting the diverse strategies made possible by metal nanoparticles.These encompass targeted drug delivery,inhibition of DNA repair mechanisms,induction of cell death,and the cascading immune response.Moreover,we explore the pivotal role of physicochemical factors such as nanoparticle size,stimuli-responsiveness,and surface modification in shaping metal nanoparticle platforms.Finally,we present insights into the challenges and future directions of metal nanoparticles in advancing DNA damage-based cancer therapy,paving the way for novel treatment paradigms.

Ginsenoside Rd Induces Differentiation of Myeloid Leukemia Cells via Regulating ERK/GSK-3β Signaling Pathway

Objective: To investigate the role of ginsenoside Rd（GRd） in acute myeloid leukemia（AML） cell differentiation. Methods: AML cells were treated with GRd（25, 50, 100 and 200 μg/mL）, retinoic acid（RA, 0.1g/L） and PD98059（20 mg/mL） for 72 h, cell survival was detected by methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tetrazolium bromide and colony formation assays, and cell cycle was detected by flow cytometry. Cell morphology and differentiation were observed by Wright-Giemsa staining, peroxidase chemical staining and cellular immunochemistry assay, respectively. The protein expression levels of GATA binding protein 1（GATA-1）, purine rich Box-1（PU.1）, phosphorylated-extracellular signal-related kinase（p-ERK）, ERK, phosphorylated-glycogen synthase kinase-3β（p-GSK3β）, GSK3β and signal transducer and activator of transcription 1（STAT1） were detected by Western blot. Thirty-six mice were randomly divided into 3 groups using a random number table: model control group（non-treated）, GRd group [treated with 200 mg/（kg·d） GRd] and homoharringtonine（HTT） group [treated with 1 mg/（kg·d） HTT]. A tumor-bearing nude mouse model was established, and tumor weight and volume were recorded. Changes of subcutaneous tumor tissue were observed after hematoxylin and eosin staining. WT1 and GATA-1 expressions were detected by immunohistochemical staining. Results: The cell survival was inhibited by GRd in a dose-dependent manner and GRd caused G0/G1cell arrest（P<0.05）. GRd treatment induced leukemia cell differentiation, showing increased expressions of peroxidase and specific proteins concerning erythrogenic or granulocytic differentiation（P<0.05）. GRd treatment elicited upregulation of p-ERK, p-GSK-3β and STAT1 expressions in cells, and reversed the effects of PD98059 on inhibiting the expressions of peroxidase, GATA-1 and PU.1（P<0.05）. After GRd treatment, tumor weight and volume of mice were decreased, and tumor cells underwent massive apoptosis and necrosis（P<0.05）. Electroencephalogram findings in 10 patients with post-stroke epilepsy:A retrospective study

BACKGROUND Post-stroke epilepsy is a common and easily overlooked complication of acute cerebrovascular disease.Long-term seizures can seriously affect the prognosis and quality of life of patients.Electroencephalogram(EEG)is the simplest way to diagnose epilepsy,and plays an important role in predicting seizures and guiding medication.AIM To explore the EEG characteristics of patients with post-stroke epilepsy and improve the detection rate of inter-seizure epileptiform discharges.METHODS From January 2017 to June 2020,10 patients with post-stroke epilepsy in our hospital were included.The clinical,imaging,and EEG characteristics were collected.The stroke location,seizure type,and ictal and interictal EEG manifestations of the patients with post-stroke epilepsy were then retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS In all 10 patients,epileptiform waves occurred in the side opposite to the stroke lesion during the interictal stage;these manifested as sharp wave,sharp-wave complex,or spike discharges in the anterior head lead of the side opposite to the lesion.CONCLUSION In EEG,epileptiform waves can occur in the side opposite to the stroke lesion in patients with post-stroke epilepsy.

Bibliometric analysis of research in epilepsy and comorbid depression from 2014 to 2023

BACKGROUND Epilepsy and depression have complicated bidirectional relationships.Our study aimed to explore the field of epilepsy comorbid with depression in a bibliometric perspective from 2014-2023.AIM To improve our understanding of epilepsy and depression by evaluating the relationship between epilepsy and depression,bibliometric analyses were performed.METHODS Epilepsy and depression-related publications from the last decade were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection.We conducted bibliometric and visual analysis using VOSviewer and CiteSpace,examining authorships,countries,institutions,journals of publication,co-citations of references,connections between keywords,clusters of keywords,and keywords with citation bursts.RESULTS Over the past ten years,we collected 1045 research papers focusing on the field of epilepsy and comorbid depression.Publications on epilepsy and depression have shown a general upward trend over time,though with some fluctuations.The United States,with 287 articles,and the University of Melbourne,contributing 34 articles,were the top countries and institutions,respectively.In addition,in the field of epilepsy and depression,Professor Lee,who has published 30 articles,was the most contributing author.The hot topics pay attention to the quality of life in patients with epilepsy and depression.CONCLUSION We reported that quality of life and stigma in patients with epilepsy comorbid with depression are possible future hot topics and directions in the field of epilepsy and depression research.
