Urban shrinkage has attracted the attention of many geographers and urban planners in recent years.However,there are fewer studies on vacant housing in shrinking cities.Therefore,this study combines multi-source remote sensing images and urban building data to assess the spatiotemporal variation patterns of housing vacancy in a typical shrinking city in China.The following points were obtained:(1)We developed an evaluation model to identify vacant residential buildings in shrinking cities by removing the contribution of nighttime lights from roads and non-residential buildings;(2)The residential building vacancy rate in Fushun city significantly increased from 2013 to 2020,resulting in a significant high-value clustering effect.The impact of urban shrinkage on vacant residential buildings was higher than that on vacant non-residential buildings;(3)The World Pop population data demonstrated consistent spatial distribution and trend of population change in Fushun with the residential building vacancy rate results,suggesting good reliability of the constructed evaluation model in this study.Identifying housing vacancies can help the local government to raise awareness of the housing vacancy problem in shrinking cities and to propose reasonable renewal strategies.

Covalent organic frameworks(COFs)are a new kind of crystalline porous materials composed of organic molecules connected by covalent bonds,processes the characteristics of low density,large specific surface area,adjustable pore size and structure,and easy to functionalize,which have been widely used in the field of membrane separation technology.Recently,there are more and more researches focusing on the preparation methods,separation application,and mechanism of COF membranes,which need to be further summarized and compared.In this review,we primarily summarized several conventional preparation methods,such as two-phase interfacial polymerization,in-situ growth on substrate,unidirectional diffusion method,layer-by-layer assembly method,mixed matrix membranes,and so on.The advantages and disadvantages of each method are briefly summarized.The application potential of COF membrane in liquid separation are introduced from four aspects:dyeing wastewater treatment,heavy metal removal,seawater desalination and oil-water separation.Then,the mechanisms including pore structure,hydrophilic/hydrophobic,electrostatic repulsion/attraction and Donnan effect are introduced.For the efficient removal of different kind of pollutions,researchers can select different ligands to construct membranes with specific pore size,hydrophily,salt or organic rejection ability and functional group.The ideas for the design and preparation of COF membranes are introduced.Finally,the future direction and challenges of the next generation of COF membranes in the field of separation are prospected.

BACKGROUND Cirrhosis is a common liver disease,and ascites is one of the common clinical conditions.However,the clinical manifestations of ascites combined with hyponatremia as a high-risk condition and its relationship to patient prognosis have not been fully studied.AIM To explore the clinical manifestations,prognostic factors,and relationships of ascites with hyponatremia in patients with cirrhosis to provide better diagnostic and treatment strategies.METHODS In this study,we retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 150 patients diagnosed with cirrhosis and ascites between 2017 and 2022.Patients were divided into two groups:ascites combined with hyponatremia group and ascites group.We compared the general characteristics,degree of hyponatremia,complications,treatment,and prognosis between the two groups.RESULTS In the study results,patients in the ascites combined with hyponatremia group showed an older average age(58.2±8.9 years),64.4%were male,and had a significantly longer hospitalization time(12.7±5.3 d).Hyponatremia was more severe in this group,with a mean serum sodium concentration of 128.5±4.3 mmol/L,which was significantly different from the ascites group of 137.6±2.1 mmol/L.Patients with ascites and hyponatremia were more likely to develop hepatic encephalopathy(56.2%vs 39.0%),renal impairment(45.2%vs 28.6%)and infection(37.0%vs 23.4%).Regarding treatment,this group more frequently used diuretics(80.8%vs 62.3%)and salt supplements(60.3%vs 38.9%).Multiple logistic regression analysis identified older age[Odds ratio(OR)=1.06,P=0.025]and male gender(OR=1.72,P=0.020)as risk factors for hyponatremia combined with ascites.Overall,patients with ascites and hyponatremia present a clear high-risk status,accompanied by severe complications and poor prognosis.CONCLUSION In patients with cirrhosis,ascites with hyponatremia is a high-risk condition that is often associated with severe complications.

Background:High blood pressure(BP)is a major contributor to mortality and cardiovascular diseases.Despite the known benefits of exercise for reducing BP,it is crucial to identify the most effective physical activity(PA)intervention.This systematic review and network meta-analysis(NMA)aimed to evaluate the available evidence on the effectiveness of various PA interventions for reducing BP and to determine their hierarchy based on their impact on BP.Methods:A search of PubMed,SPORTDiscus,PsycINFO,Web of Science,CINAHL,Cochrane,and Eric databases was conducted up to December 2022 for this systematic review and NMA.Randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies targeting healthy children and adolescents aged 6-12 years old were included in this study.Only studies that compared controlled and intervention groups using PA or exercise as the major influence were included.We followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA)guidelines.Three independent investigators performed the literature screening,data extraction,and risk of bias assessment.We used Bayesian arm-based NMA to synthesize the data.The primary outcomes were systolic BP and diastolic BP.We calculated the mean differences(MDs)in systolic BP and diastolic BP before and after treatment.Mean treatment differences were estimated using NMA and random-effect models.Results:We synthesized 27 studies involving 15,220 children and adolescents.PA combined with nutrition and behavior change was the most effective intervention for reducing both systolic BP and diastolic BP(MD=-8.64,95%credible interval(95%CI):-11.44 to-5.84;MD=-6.75,95%CI:-10.44 to-3.11),followed by interventions with multiple components(MD=-1.39,95%CI:-1.94 to-0.84;MD=-2.54,95%CI:-4.89 to-0.29).Conclusion:Our findings suggest that PA interventions incorporating nutrition and behavior change,followed by interventions with multiple components,are most effective for reducing both systolic BP and diastolic BP in children and adolescents.

Atomic-scale mechanism of effect of co-separation of elements at interface of ferrite and austenite on Cr-depleted zone of duplex stainless steel

Three-dimensional atom-probe tomography and first-principles calculation combined with density functional theory were used to study the effect of the co-segregation of different elements formed during the solidification process of S32205 duplex stainless steel on the Cr-depleted zone at the interface between ferrite and austenite.It was found that the co-segregation of different elements formed during the solidification process of duplex stainless steel can also form Cr-depleted zone at the interface between ferrite and austenite.Moreover,Mo,Si,B,C and P atoms promote co-segregation with Cr atoms,which promotes the formation of Cr-depleted zone at the interface between ferrite and austenite in duplex stainless steel.Mo and Si strongly promote the segregation of Cr at the interface between ferrite and austenite,thereby promoting the formation of Cr-depleted zone.B,C and P elements also promote the segregation of Cr element at the interface between ferrite and austenite and the formation of Cr-depleted zone,but their effect is weaker than that of Mo and Si elements.These conclusions provide a new theoretical basis for improving the intergranular corrosion performance of duplex stainless steel.

Cytokines including tumor necrosis factor, interleukins, interferons, and chemokines are abundantly produced in various diseases. As pleiotropic factors, cytokines are involved in nearly every aspect of cellular functions such as migration, survival, proliferation, and differentiation. Oligodendrocytes are the myelin-forming cells in the central nervous system and play critical roles in the conduction of action potentials, supply of metabolic components for axons, and other functions. Emerging evidence suggests that both oligodendrocytes and oligodendrocyte precursor cells are vulnerable to cytokines released under pathological conditions. This review mainly summarizes the effects of cytokines on oligodendrocyte lineage cells in central nervous system diseases. A comprehensive understanding of the effects of cytokines on oligodendrocyte lineage cells contributes to our understanding of central nervous system diseases and offers insights into treatment strategies.

Efficacy and Safety of Bufei Jiedu Granules in Treating Multidrug-Resistant Pulmonary Tuberculosis: A Multi-center, Double-Blinded and Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of Bufei Jiedu(BFJD) Granules as adjuvant therapy for patients with multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis(MDR-PTB). Methods: A large-scale, multi-center, double-blinded, and randomized controlled trial was conducted in 18 sentinel hospitals in China from December 2012 to December 2016. A total of 312 MDR-PTB patients were randomly assigned to BFJD Granules or placebo groups(1:1) using a stratified randomization method, which both received the long-course chemotherapy regimen for 18 months(6 Am-Lfx-P-Z-Pto, 12 Lfx-P-Z-Pto). Meanwhile, patients in both groups also received BFJD Granules or placebo twice a day for a total of 18 months, respectively. The primary outcome was cure rate. The secondary outcomes included time to sputum-culture conversion, changes in lung cavities and quality of life(QoL) of patients. Adverse reactions were monitored during and after the trial. Results: A total of 216 cases completed the trial, 111 in the BFJD Granules group and 105 in the placebo group. BFJD Granules, as adjuvant treatment, increased the cure rate by 13.6% at the end of treatment, compared with the placebo(58.4% vs. 44.8%, P=0.02), and accelerated the median time to sputum-culture conversion(5 months vs. 11 months). The cavity closure rate of the BFJD Granules group(50.6%, 43/85) was higher than that of the placebo group(32.1%, 26/81; P=0.02) in patients who completed the treatment. At the end of the intensive treatment, according to the 36-item Short Form, the BFJD Granules significantly improved physical functioning, general health, and vitality of patients relative to the placebo group(all P<0.01). Overall, the death rates in the two groups were not significantly different; 5.1%(8/156) in the BFJD Granules group and 2.6%(4/156) in the placebo group. Conclusions: Supplementing BFJD Granules with the long-course chemotherapy regimen significantly increased the cure rate and cavity closure rate, and rapidly improved QoL of patients with MDR-PTB(Registration No. ChiCTR-TRC-

Clinical relevance of distolingual roots and periodontal status in mandibular first molars: a cross-sectional study employing CBCT analysis

Objectives:Distolingual root of the permanent mandibular first molar(PMFM-DLR)has been frequently reported,which may complicate the treatment of periodontitis.This study aimed to assess the morphological features of PMFM-DLR and investigate the correlation between the morphological features of PMFM-DLR and periodontal status in patients with Eastern Chinese ethnic background.Materials and methods:A total of 836 cone beam computed tomography(CBCT)images with 1497 mandibular first molars were analyzed to observe the prevalence of PMFM-DLR at the patients and tooth levels in Eastern China.Among them,complete periodontal charts were available for 69 Chinese patients with 103 teeth.Correlation and regression analyses were used to evaluate the correlation between the morphological features of DLR,bone loss,and periodontal clinical parameters,including clinical attachment loss(CAL),probing pocket depth(PPD),gingival recession(GR),and furcation involvement(FI).Results:The patient-level prevalence and tooth-level prevalence of DLR in mandibular first molars were 29.4%and 26.3%,respectively.Multiple linear regression analysis suggested that bone loss at the lingual site and CAL were negatively affected by the angle of separation between distolingual and mesial roots in the transverse section,while they were significantly influenced by age and the angle of separation between distobuccal and mesial roots in the coronal section.Conclusions:The prevalence of PMFM-DLR in Eastern China was relatively high in our cohort.The morphological features of DLR were correlated with the periodontal status of mandibular first molars.This study provides critical information on the morphological features of DLR for improved diagnosis and treatment options of mandibular molars with DLR.

Neurological manifestations of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)are less noticeable than the respiratory symptoms,but they may be associated with disability and mortality in COVID-19.Even though Omicron caused less severe disease than Delta,the incidence of neurological manifestations is similar.More than 30%of patients experienced“brain fog”,delirium,stroke,and cognitive impairment,and over half of these patients presented abnormal neuroimaging outcomes.In this review,we summarize current advances in the clinical findings of neurological manifestations in COVID-19 patients and compare them with those in patients with influenza infection.We also illustrate the structure and cellular invasion mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 and describe the pathway for central SARS-CoV-2 invasion.In addition,we discuss direct damage and other pathological conditions caused by SARS-CoV-2,such as an aberrant interferon response,cytokine storm,lymphopenia,and hypercoagulation,to provide treatment ideas.This review may offer new insights into preventing or treating brain damage in COVID-19.

Backgroup:Currently,aromatherapy is being increasingly utilized in clinical practice,particularly in managing the side effects associated with radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy.However,it remains to be established whether aromatherapy can effectively alleviate these symptoms.Objective:To investigate the effects of aromatherapy on the physical and mental health of patients with cancer undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy.Methods:Seven databases were researched from inception until September 29,2023,including PubMed,Scopus,and Web of Science,Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wanfang database,China Biology Medicine disc and VIP Chinese Medical Journal Database.Review Manager version 5.3 was utilized for data analysis.The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool RoB2 was employed to evaluate the quality of the literature included in the study.Evidence quality rating was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment,Development,and Evaluation(GRADE) approach through the GRADEpro GDT online tool.Results:Nineteen studies involving 1,541 patients were included.Aromatherapy can alleviate nausea [relative risk(RR)=0.64,95% confidence interval(CI):0.53 to 0.78,P<0.05,I^(2)=46%;standardized mean difference(SMD)=-0.86,95% CI:-1.21 to-0.51,P<0.05,I^(2)=64%] and vomiting(RR=0.54,95% CI:0.42 to 0.69,P<0.05,I^(2)=35%;SMD=-1.28,95% CI:-1.52 to-1.03,P<0.05,I^(2)=92%),improve sleep disorders [mean difference(MD)=-3.39,95% CI:-3.95 to-2.84,P<0.05,I^(2)=0%],relieve pain(SMD=-1.58,95% CI:-1.96 to-1.21,P<0.05,I^(2)=0%),mitigate fatigue(SMD=-1.28,95% CI:-2.44 to-0.11,P<0.05,I^(2)=93%) and enhance quality of life(SMD=0.50,95% CI:0.22 to 0.79,P<0.05,I^(2)=0%) in cancer patients after radiotherapy and chemotherapy,but it may not have a significant effect on anxiety.The risk of bias was high in the included studies using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool RoB2,and no studies were considered to be of high grade according to the GRADE system.Conclusions:Aromatherapy is an efficacious,safe and economic adjunctive therapy for cancer patien
