As a common insecticide,nitenpyram(NTP)seriously threatens the human health and environmental safety.In this work,a visible-light-responsive photocata-lyst two-dimensional(2D)Bi_(2)WO_(6) was synthesized and applied to degrade NTP.Compared with bulk Bi_(2)WO_(6),the 2D Bi_(2)WO_(6)exhibits better photocatalytic performance for NTP degradation under visible-light irradiation.The enhanced activity can be ascribed to the unique 2D struc-ture which would induce to higher efficiency of carrier separation.Moreover,hole(h+)plays a major role(and·O^(2-))in the degradation of NTP.Based on the interme-diates detected by high-performance liquid chromatogra-phy-mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS),the degradation pathway of NTP was proposed.In addition,the influence of typical environmental factors(pH,water matrix,inorganic cations and common anions)on the degradation of NTP was also investigated.This work not only helps people to understand the degradation of pesticides in actual water bodies,but also provides reference for the subsequent treatment of agricultural wastewater.

Polyethylene glycol can connect the distal and proximal ends of an injured nerve at the cellular level through axonal fusion to avoid Wallerian degeneration of the injured distal nerve and promote peripheral nerve regeneration.However,this method can only prevent Wallerian degeneration in 10% of axons because the cytoskeleton is not repaired in a timely fashion.Reconstruction of the cytoskeletal trunk and microtubule network has been suggested to be the key for improving the efficiency of axonal fusion.As a microtubule-severing protein,spastin has been used to enhance cytoskeletal reconstruction.Therefore,we hypothesized that spastin combined with polyethylene glycol can more effectively promote peripheral nerve regeneration.A total of 120 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham,suture,polyethylene glycol,and polyethylene glycol + spastin groups.In suture group rats,only traditional nerve anastomosis of the end-to-end suture was performed after transection of the sciatic nerve.In polyethylene glycol and polyethylene glycol + spastin groups,50 μL of polyethylene glycol or 25 μL of polyethylene glycol + 25 μL of spastin,respectively,were injected immediately under the epineurium of the distal suture.Sensory fiber regeneration distance,which was used to assess early nerve regeneration at 1 week after surgery,was shortest in the suture group,followed by polyethylene glycol group and greatest in the polyethylene glycol + spastin group.Behavioral assessment of motor function recovery in rats showed that limb function was restored in polyethylene glycol and polyethylene glycol + spastin groups at 8 weeks after surgery.At 1,2,4 and 8 weeks after surgery,sciatic functional index values and percentages of gastrocnemius muscle wet weight were highest in the sham group,followed by polyethylene glycol + spastin and polyethylene glycol groups,and lowest in the suture group.Masson staining was utilized to assess the morphology of muscle tissue.Morphological changes in skeletal muscle were detectable in suture,p

Performance and safety of transport vehicles fueled with alternative fuels in plateau environment:A review

Alternative fuels including natural gas,alcohols and biodiesel for transport vehicles have been applied worldwidely.However,the performance and safety of alternative fuel vehicles have changed when the application environment varies from plain condition to the plateau,resulting from the variation of air density and atmospheric pressure.Natural gasfueled vehicles exhibited lower output and greater fuel consumption than gasoline-fueled vehicles in plateau environment.The oxygenated additives including alcohols and biodiesel can supply extra oxygen into the cylinder,which may benefit the engine performances compared with traditional petroleum in plateau environments.However,compared with plain environment,vehicles fueled with oxygenated fuels worsen the engine thermal efficiency,the power performance and the fuel economy in the plateau.With the increase of altitude,HC and CO emissions increase;whereas NO_(x)emissions show no evident change at various altitudes.Intake boosting,spark or injection timing optimization,and intake manifold optimization can effectively improve the combustion and performance of vehicles in the plateau.Safety is another significant factor for application of alternative fuels.Compared with plain environment,safeties of vehicles fueled with natural gas or biodiesel in the plateau have not been reduced,whereas safety of methanol and ethanol vehicles decrease,because they are easier to form air fuel mixture,have lower flash points,and have higher possibilities of gas resistance.The study proves that the performance and safety and alternative fuel vehicles deteriorate when the application locale varies from the plain region to the plateau region.

In this paper,the system on display panel(SoDP)architecture,the primary stage of heterogeneous integration system in display(HiSID),is introduced for the first time.In this architecture,the driving components of display,which are supposed to be on the display flexible print circuit(FPC)in traditional architecture,are innovatively integrated onto the backside of display panel.Through the SoDP architecture,the simulated impact strain in the panel fan-out region can decrease about 30%compared to the traditional architecture,and SoDP provides more the 10 mm extra space in the in-plane Y-direction for holding a larger battery.Also,the SoDP is compatible with the current organic laser emitted diode(OLED)and system in package(SiP)processes.Besides the primary stage,this paper also presents a comprehensive and extensive analysis on the challenges of the manufacturability for the advanced stage of HiSID from four key technologies perspectives:device miniaturization,massive manufacturing,driving technology,and advanced heterogeneous integration.

In view of the reactive power coordination difficulties caused by reactive power strong coupling,the provincial power grids in the interconnected system are formed by the multi-AC/DC transmission.Wind power channels are under the conditions of large-scale long-distance transmission of wind power and other forms of renewable power generation.The AC-DC hybrid power flow equation of the interconnected system,including the AC-DC tie lines,is presented in this paper,along with the robust dynamic evolutionary optimization of the reactive power system in interconnected systems under fluctuating and uncertain wind power conditions.Therefore,the rapid collaborative optimization of reactive power flow and the exchange of reactive power between tie lines between provincial power grids are realized.The analysis was made by taking four interconnected large-scale provincial power grids of Eastern Mongolia,Jilin,Liaoning and Shandong as an example.The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed reactive power dynamic multi-objective optimization method for interconnected power grids.

Objective:To investigate whether Leech-Centipede(LC) Granules can improve erectile function in rats with diabetes mellitus-associated erectile dysfunction(DMED) through endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition(EndMT) inhibition.Methods:Components of LC Granules were identified via ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography.Thirty male Sprague Dawley rats were injected with streptozotocin and fed continuously for 8weeks to establish the DMED rat model.Rats with erectile dysfunction symptoms diagnosed using apomorphine were divided into DMED and low-,medium-,and high-doses LC groups(n=6 in each).The negative control(NC, n=6) and DMED groups were given 5 mL of deionized water via intragastric gavage,and the low-,mediumand the high-doses LC groups were administered LC at 1.6,3.2,and 6.4 g/kg,respectively,via intragastric gavage for 4 weeks.The intracavernous pressure(ICP),mean arterial pressure(MAP),and nitric oxide(NO) levels in cavernous tissue were measured for each group.Quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Western blot were used to detect mRNA and protein expressions of endothelial and mesenchymal markers.Immunofluorescence staining was used to observe α-SMA, and Masson’s trichrome staining was performed to determine the myofiber/collagen ratio.Results:A total of 474 active components were identified.After treatment,the ICP/MAP value and NO level were significantly higher in the medium-and high-dose LC groups than in the DMED group(P0.05).α-SMA expression was significantly higher in the DMED group and was reduced in all LC intervention groups(P>0.05).The myofiber/collagen ratio in the LC groups was higher than that in the DMED group but lo

Alzheimer's disease(AD)is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases among the elderly and it accounts for nearly 80%of all dementias.The pathogenesis of AD is complicated and enigmatic thus far.The mitochondrial cascade hypothesis assumes that mitochondrial damage may mediate,drive,or contribute to a variety of AD pathologies and may be the main factor in late-onset AD.Currently,there are no widely recognized drugs able to attenuate mitochondrial damage in AD.Notably,increasing evidence supports the efficacy of acupuncture for improving the mitochondrial structure and protecting mitochondrial functions in AD.This review reports the mechanisms by which acupuncture regulates mitochondrial dynamics,energy metabolism,calcium homeostasis and apoptosis.In conclusion,these findings suggest that AD mitochondrial dysfunction represents a reasonable therapeutic target and acupuncture could play a significant role in preventing and treating AD.

Vascular remodeling and angiogenesis are two key processes in the maintenance of vascular homeostasis and involved in a wide array of vascular pathologies. Following these processes, extracellular matrix (ECM) provides the mechanical foundation for vascular walls. Lysyl oxidase (LOX), the key matrix-modifying enzyme, has been demonstrated to significantly affect structural abnormality and dysfunction in the blood vessels. The role of LOX in vascular remodeling and angiogenesis has always been the subject in the current medical research. Therefore, we presently make a summarization of the biosynthesis of LOX and the mechanisms involved in vascular remodeling and angiogenesis, as well as the role of LOX in diseases associated with vascular abnormalities and the therapeutic potential via targeting LOX. In particular, we give a proposal that LOX likely reshapes matrisome-associated genes expressions in the regulation of vascular remodeling and angiogenesis, which serves as a mechanistic insight into the critical role of LOX in these two aspects. Additionally, LOX has also dual effects on the vascular dysfunction, namely, inhibition of LOX for improving hypertension, restenosis and malignant tumor while activation of LOX for curing arterial aneurysm and dissection. LOX-targeted therapy may provide a promising therapeutic strategy for the treatment of various vascular pathologies associated with vascular remodeling and angiogenesis.

Determination of dynamic capillary effect on two-phase flow in porous media: A perspective from various methods

The relationship between capillary pressure and saturation plays a critical role in the characterization of two-phase flow and transport in aquifers and oil reservoirs. This relationship is usually determined under the static condition, where capillary pressure is the only function of saturation. However,considerable experiments have suggested that the dependence of capillary pressure on desaturation rate is under the dynamic condition. Thus, a more general description of capillary pressure that includes dynamic capillary effect has been approved widely. A comprehensive understanding of the dynamic capillary effect is needed for the investigation of the two-phase flow in porous media by various methods. In general, dynamic capillary effect in porous media can be studied through the laboratory experiment, pore-to macro-scale modeling, and artificial neural network. Here, main principle and research procedures of each method are reviewed in detail. Then, research progress, disadvantages and advantages are discussed, respectively. In addition, upscaling study from pore-to macro-scale are introduced, which explains the difference between laboratory experiment and pore-scale modeling. At last, several future perspectives and recommendations for optimal solution of dynamic capillary effect are presented.
