The raw and processed roots of Plygonum multiflorum Thunb(PM) are used to treat different diseases in clinical practice. In order to clarify the influence of processing, a comparative study of chemical substance analysis was carried out. As the xenobiotics with a high enough exposure in target organs being considered as the potential effective or toxicity components, an in vivo study was also implemented to characterize the constitutes and metabolites, and meanwhile, the factor of compatibility with black bean were also considered. As a result, a total of 148 compounds were detected in PM extracts and more than 40 compounds were only detected in the processed products, which were probably new components produced during the steaming process. In in vivo study, 7 prototype components and 66 metabolites were detected or tentatively identified, 24 of which were reported for the first time. Our results indicated that processing greatly changed the chemical composition of PM and influenced the disposition of the compounds in vivo. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first global comparative study of raw and processed PM. These results expanded our knowledge about the influence of processing of PM and provided the essential data for further efficacy or toxicity studies.

A soil survey was conducted in zhangzhou City, an important agricultural region in south of the Fujian Province, China. 93 surface soil samples were collected in the paddy fields, vegetable lands, orchards and tea plantations from zhangzhou City. An additional soil profile was sampled in a paddy field as previous research had indicated high concentrations of organochlorine pesticides （OCPs） in the paddy fields. Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes （DDTs） ranged from 0.64 78.07 ng g-1 dry weight and hexachlorocyclohexanes （HCHs） ranged from 0.72-30.16 ng g-1 dry weight in the surface soil of the whole study region. Ratios of a-HCH/-γ-HCH 〈 4 and o,p′-DDT/p,p′-DDT 〉 1 in all soil samples suggested that lindane and dicofol were widely applied in this region in the past. Concentrations of HCHs and DDTs in soils from the four land use types followed the orders： paddy fields 〉 vegetable lands 〉 tea plantations 〉 orchards and tea plantations 〉 orchards 〉 paddy fields 〉 vegetable lands, respectively. Analyses of the data showed no correlation （r 〈 0.1） between elevation and OCPs contents in paddy fields, orchards and vegetable lands, indicated no significantly different features in distribution of HCHs and DDTs in the soils from low lying plains and mountains and the unsystematic usage of OCPs, and highlighted the fragmented nature of agricultural production in zhangzhou, as well as the reemission of OCPs from the soils, where high OCPs concentrations were found, in Longhai of zhangzhou. In addition, no obvious relationship between the OCPs and total organic carbon （TOC）（r 〈 0.3） was observed in the soil profile. The mean contribution of dicofol in total DDTs was 66% in the whole zhangzhou region. The approximate burdens of HCHs and DDTs in the surface layer of 0-20 em were 0.44 and 1.55 t, respectively. The overall survival of patients with cervical cancer has improved due to detection at an early stage and availability of comprehensive treatments in China. As patients' lives prolonged, it is important to understand their health-related quality of life(QoL) during and after treatment. We used the EQ-5D questionnaire to assess QoL of 194 patients with cervical lesions at Sichuan University West China Second Hospital between May 2010 and January 2011. Patients were surveyed before primary treatment and at 1, 3, and 6 months after primary treatment. Results showed a consistent decline in EQ-5D scores in the spectrum of cervical lesions at each time point after treatment(all P < 0.05). For patients with precursor lesions, there was an increasing trend along the timeline of treatment(P < 0.01). For patients with early-stage cervical cancer, EQ-5D scores declined in the first month(P = 0.01) and gradually increased to higher levels at 6 months post-treatment than those before treatment(P < 0.01). EQ-5D scores followed a similar trend in patients with advanced cervical cancer(P = 0.04), though they did not statistically rebound after 6 months(0.84 ± 0.19 vs. 0.86 ± 0.11, P = 0.62). Regarding advanced cervical cancer, EQ-5D scores for women above 40 years of age appeared to recover more rapidly and reached higher levels than those for women below 40 years(P = 0.03). Caution and extra care are recommended in the early period of cervical cancer treatment given the slight deterioration in the QoL, and in particular, for younger cervical cancer patients. Our study implies that health care providers may need to improve the health-related QoL of cervical cancer patients.

Background:Enterobius vermicularis infection is a prevalent intestinal parasitic disease in *** this study,we explored the epidemiological status and risk factors for *** infection in children in southern ***:A cross-sectional survey was carried out in Gaozhou city,Guangdong province,China,in December *** aged 2–12 years from five schools participated in the *** adhesive cellophane-tape perianal swab method was applied to detect *** infection,while a questionnaire was sent to each child’s guardian(s)to collect demographic and socioeconomic data,as well as hygiene behaviors,pertaining to each *** and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to capture the potential risk ***:Out of the 802 children surveyed,440 were infected with ***,with an average prevalence of 54.86%,and a range from 45.96 to 68.13%.The age variable was found to be statistically significant,whereas the sex variable was *** was found that a mother’s education level(low)and not washing hands before dinner were major risk factors in all children(802).After stratification by age,a father’s education level(primary or below)and biting pencils(or toys)were significant risk factors in the younger children(508),while not washing hands before dinner and playing on the ground were important risk factors in the older children(294).Conclusion:This study demonstrates the prevalence of *** infection in children in Gaozhou and reveals underlying risk *** importantly,it reveals that risk factors differ among the different age groups,which indicates that different control measures targeted at particular age groups should be implemented.

To ensure the production of food crops,a series of cryptolepine derivatives were synthesised,after which their antibacterial activities and mechanism of action against three plant pathogens were *** bioassay results indicated that most of the target compounds displayed potent inhibitory effects against Xanthomonas oryzae(***)and Xanthomonas axonopodis ***(*** pv.c.).Remarkably,compound 9 exhibited the best in vitro antibacterial activity against ***,with a minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)value of 0.78μg·mL^(-1).Compound 2 exhibited the best in vitro antibacterial activity against *** pv.c.,with an MIC value of 0.39μg·mL^(-1).These activities were superior to those of copper quinolate(MIC=6.25,25μg·mL^(-1))and thiodiazole copper(MIC=100,200μg·mL^(-1))against *** and *** *** vivo experiments demonstrated the promising applicability of compound 9 for the control of rice bacterial ***,compound 9 was selected as a candidate to conduct preliminary analyses of the antibacterial mechanisms of cryptolepine *** electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy observations,extracellular polysaccharide production,biofilm formation,transcriptomic,quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction analyses,and molecular docking assays were ***,our findings demonstrated that compound 9 might act via multifarious mechanisms to down-regulate virulence factors and cause cell death.

AIM： To study the influence of high-frequency electric surgical knives on healing of abdominal incision. METHODS： Two hundred and forty white rats were divided into 10^0, 10^2, 10^5, and 10^8 groups and rat models of abdominal operation were induced by using electric surgical knives and common lancets respectively. Then they were respectively given hypodermic injections of normal saline and 0.2 mL quantitative mixture of Escherichia coil, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudornonas aeruginosa at a concentration of 10^2, 10^5 and 10^8. On the basis of the animal experiment, 220 patients undergoing abdominal operations （above type Ⅱ） were randomly allocated into one of following three groups： electric knife （EK, 93 cases）, electro-coagulation （EC, 55 cases） and control （72 cases）. High-frequency electric surgical knives were used to dissect abdominal tissues and electro-coagulation for hemostasis in EK group. Common lancets and electro-coagulation were applied in EC group. Common lancets and tieing silk suture were used in the controls. RESULTS： In all the groups except group 10^0, infection rate of incisional wounds made by electric surgical knives were remarkably higher than that with common lancets. Furthermore, there were significant differences in groups 10^2, 10^5, and 10^8 （P 〈 0.05）, but not in group 10^0 （P 〉 0.05） between EK and EC groups. Clinical studies showed a delayed wound healing in 16 cases （17.20%） in EK, 11 cases （16.36%） in EC and 2 cases （2.86%）in the control groups. A significant difference between EK and the control groups （χ^2= 8.57, P 〈 0.01）, and between EC and the control groups （χ^2 = 5.66, P 〈 0.05） was observed, but not between EK and EC （χ^2= 0.017, P 〉 0.05）. CONCLUSION： High-frequency electric knives may remarkably delay abdominal incision healing. Its application should be minimized so as to reduce the possibility of postoperative complications.

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Cidan Capsule combined with adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) in patients with a high risk of early recurrence after curative resection of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods:A multicenter,randomized controlled trial was conducted in patients with high-risk recurrence factors after curative resection of HCC from 9 medical centers between July 2014 and July ***249 patients were randomly assigned to TACE with or without Cidan Capsule administration groups by stratified block in a 1:1 *** adjuvant TACE was given 4-5 weeks after hepatic resection in both ***,125 patients in the TACE plus Cidan group were administrated Cidan Capsule(0.27 g/capsule,5 capsules every time,4 times a day) for 6 months with a 24-month *** endpoints included diseasefree survival(DFS) and tumor recurrence rate(TRR).Secondary endpoint was overall survival(OS).Any drugrelated adverse events(AEs) were observed and ***:As the data cutoff on July 9th,2018,the median DFS was not reached in the TACE plus Cidan group and 234.0 days in the TACE group(hazard ratio,0.420,95%confidence interval,0.290-0.608;P<0.01).The 1-and 2-year TRR in the TACE plus Cidan and TACE groups were 31.5%,37.1%,and 60.8%,63.4%,respectively(P<0.01).Median OS was not reached in both ***1-and 2-year OS rates in TACE plus Cidan and TACE groups were 98.4%,98.4%,and 89.5%,87.9%,respectively(P<0.05).The most common grade 3-4 AEs included fatigue,abdominal pain,lumbar pain,and *** serious AE was reported in 1 patient in the TACE plus Cidan group,the death was due to retroperitoneal mass hemorrhage and hemorrhagic shock,and was not related to study ***:Cidan Capsule in combination with TACE can reduce the incidence of early recurrence in HCC patients at high-risk of recurrence after radical hepatectomy and may be an appropriate option in postoperative anti-recurrence treatment.(Reg

A new HPV-16/18 bivalent vaccine expressed by the Escherichia coli has been proven to be efficacious in adult women.A randomized,immunogenicity noninferiority study of this candidate vaccine was conducted in December 2015 in *** aged 9–14 years were randomized to receive 2 doses at months 0 and 6(n=301)or 3 doses at months 0,1 and 6(n=304).Girls aged 15–17 years(n=149)and women aged 18–26 years(n=225)received 3 *** objectives included noninferiority analysis of the IgG geometric mean concentration(GMC)ratio(95%CI,lower bound>0.5)to HPV-16 and HPV-18 at month 7 in girls compared with *** the per-protocol set,the GMC ratio of IgG was noninferior for girls aged 9–17 years receiving 3 doses compared with women(1.76(95%CI,1.56,1.99)for HPV-16 and 1.93(95%CI,1.69,2.21)for HPV-18)and noninferior for girls aged 9–14 years receiving 2 doses compared with women(1.45(95%CI,1.25,1.62)for HPV-16 and 1.17(95%CI,1.02,1.33)for HPV-18).Noninferiority was also demonstrated for neutralizing *** immunogenicity of the HPV vaccine in girls receiving 3 or 2 doses was noninferior compared with that in young adult women.
