The diversity of cell types in the brain and how these change during different developmental stages,remains largely *** life cycle of insects is short and goes through 4 distinct stages including embryonic,larval,pupal,and adult *** postembryonic life,the larval brain transforms into a mature adult version after *** silkworm,Bombyx mori,is a lepidopteran model ***,we characterized the brain cell repertoire of larval and adult *** by obtaining 50708 single-cell *** and 12 cell clusters from larval and adult brains were assigned based on marker genes,*** cell types include Kenyon cells,optic lobe cells,monoaminergic neurons,surface glia,and astrocyte *** further assessed the cell type compositions of larval and adult *** found that the transition from larva to adult resulted in great expansion of glial *** glial cell accounted for 49.8%of adult midbrain *** to flies and ants,the mushroom body kenyon cell is insufficient in ***,which accounts for 5.4%and 3.6%in larval and adult brains,*** of neuropeptide expression showed that the abundance and specificity of expression varied among individual ***,we found that ion transport peptide was specifically expressed in glial cells of larval and adult *** cell atlas dataset provides an important resource to explore cell diversity,neural circuits and genetic profiles.

Carbon-based nanomaterials cause toxicity by oxidative stress to the liver and brain in Sprague-Dawley rats

Carbon-based nanomaterials have important research significance in various disciplines,such as composite materials,nanoelectronic devices,biosensors,biological imaging,and drug ***,the human and ecological risks associated with carbon-based nanomaterials have received increasing ***,the biological safety of carbon based nanomaterials has not been systematically *** this study,we used different types of carbon materials,namely,graphene oxide(GO),single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs),and multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs),as models to observe their distribution and oxidative damage in *** results of Histopathological and ultrastructural examinations indicated that the liver and lungs were the main accumulation targets of these ***-μ-XRF analysis revealed that SWCNTs and MWCNTs might be present in the *** shows that the three types of carbon-based nanomaterials could cross the gas-blood barrier and eventually reach the liver *** addition,SWCNTs and MWCNTs could cross the blood-brain barrier and accumulate in the cerebral *** increase in ROS and MDA levels and the decrease in GSH,SOD,and CAT levels indicated that the three types of nanomaterials might cause oxidative stress in the *** suggests that direct instillation of these carbon-based nanomaterials into rats could induce ROS *** addition,iron(Fe)contaminants in these nanomaterials were a definite source of free ***,these nanomaterials did not cause obvious damage to the rat brain *** deposition of selenoprotein in the rat brain was found to be related to oxidative stress and Fe *** information may support the development of secure and reasonable applications of the studied carbon-based nanomaterials.

Optimal Reinsurance Strategy Based on the Lundberg Exponent

In this paper, the authors investigate the optimal per-claim reinsurance problem under the continuous-time framework to minimize the insurer’s ruin probability based on the Lundberg exponent. Considering reinsurance participants’ diversified risk preferences, the authors assume that the reinsurance premium is calculated by a combined premium principle, including the expected value premium principle and upper moment premium principle. Then, the authors derive the insurer’s optimal reinsurance strategy satisfying the principle of indemnity and the incentive compatibility condition in an infinite reinsurance space based on the point-wise optimization approach. Besides, the proposed work emphasizes the optimality and admissibility of the combination of the excess of loss reinsurance and its dual form when a piecewise reinsurance premium principle is considered. As a special case, the optimal reinsurance strategy under the expected value premium principle reduces to the classic ***, the numerical analyses are provided to illustrate the effects of the main parameters on the maximal Lundberg exponent and the optimal reinsurance strategy.

Global analysis of basic leucine zipper transcription factors in trifoliate orange and the function identification of PtbZIP49 in salt tolerance

As one of the most widely distributed and highly conserved transcription factors in eukaryotes,basic leucine zipper proteins(bZIPs)are involved in a variety of biological processes in plants,but they are largely unknown in *** this study,56 bZIP family members were identified genome-wide from an important citrus rootstock,namely trifoliate orange(Poncirus trifoliata ***.),and these putative bZIPs were named PtbZIP1—*** PtbZIPs were classified into 13 subgroups by phylogenetic comparison with Arabidopsis thaliana bZIPs(AtbZIPs),and they were randomly distributed on nine known(50 genes)chromosomes and one unknown(6 genes)*** analysis revealed the detailed characteristics of PtPZIPs,including their amino acid length,isoelectric point(pI),molecular weight(MW),predicted subcellular localization,gene structure,and conserved *** of promoter elements suggested the presence of drought,low-temperature,wound,and defense and stress responsive elements,as well as multiple hormone-responsive cis-acting *** expression analysis showed the transcriptional patterns of PtbZIPs in different tissues and under dehydration,high salt,ABA,and IAA *** addition,21 PtbZIPs were predicted to have direct or indirect protein—protein *** these,PtbZIP49 was experimentally proven to interact with PtbZIP1 or PtbZIP11 by using a yeast two-hybrid assay and bimolecular fluorescence complementation(BiFC).Subcellular localization analysis further revealed that PtbZIP1,PtbZIP11,and PtbZIP49 were localized in the ***,PtbZIP49 was functionally identified as having an important role in salt stress via ectopic expression in *** and silenced in trifoliate orange using virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS).This study provided comprehensive information on PtbZIP transcription factors in citrus and highlights their potential functions in abiotic stress.

Aim： To assess the efficacy and safety of tadalafil in comparison to a placebo, when taken on demand for 12 weeks by East/Southeast Asian men with erectile dysfunction （ED）, Methods： This multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel group, placebo-controlled study was conducted at 17 centers across East and Southeast Asia between August 2002 and February 2003. Men more than 18 years of age with mild to severe ED of various etiologies were randomized to receive a placebo or 20 mg of tadalafil taken as needed （maximum once daily）. Efficacy assessments included the International Index of Erectile Function, the Sexual Encounter Profile diary and Global Assessment Questions. Results： Tadalafil significantly improved erectile function as compared to the placebo （P 〈 0.001）. At the endpoint, the patients receiving 20 mg of tadalafil reported a greater mean per patient percentage of successful intercourse attempts （Sexual Encounter Profile question 3： 70.9% compared to 33.5% in the placebo） and a greater proportion of improved erections （Global Assessment Question： 86.2% compared to 30.1%）. Most （≥3%） treatment emergent adverse events were mild or moderate. The most common treatment emergent adverse events were headache, back pain, dizziness and dyspepsia. Conclusion： Tadalafil was an effective and well-tolerated treatment for ED in East and Southeast Asian men.

Effect of long-acting testosterone undecanoate treatment on quality of life in men with testosterone deficiency syndrome： a double blind randomized controlled trial

This study aimed to investigate the effect of intramuscular injection of testosterone undecanoate on overall quality of life （QoL） in men with testosterone deficiency syndrome （TDS）. A randomized controlled trial over a 12-month period was carried out in 2009. One hundred and twenty men aged 40 years and above with a diagnosis of TDS （serum total testosterone 〈12 nmol 1-1 and total Aging Male Symptom （AMS） scores ≥ 27） were invited to participate. Interventions comprised intramuscular injection of either placebo or 1000 mg testosterone undecanoate, given at weeks O, 6, 18, 30 and 42. This paper presents the secondary analysis of QoL changes measured in the scores of Short-Form-12 （SF-12） scale at baseline, weeks 30 and 48 after the first injection. A total of 56/60 and 58/60 men from the active treatment and placebo group, respectively, completed the study. At week 48, before adjusting for baseline differences, the QoL of men in the treatment group improved significantly in five out of the eight domains on SF-12. The physical health composite scores improved 4.0 points from a baseline of 41.9±7.0 in the treatment group compared to 0.8 point from a baseline of 43.7--7.1 in the placebo group （F=3.652, P=0.027）. The mental health composite scores improved 4.4 points from a baseline of 37.1±9.0 in the treatment group compared to 1.0 points from a baseline of 37.6±7.9 in the placebo group （F=4.514, P=-0.018）. After adjusting for baseline differences, significant improvement was observed in mental health composite scores, but not in physical health composite scores. LQng-acting testosterone undecanoate significanUy improved the mental health component of QoL in men with TDS.

Objective To clarify the potential mechanism of Banxia Xiexin Decoction(BXD)on colorectal cancer(CRC)from the perspective of *** Forty male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into normal control(NC),azoxymethane/dextran sulfate sodium(AOM/DSS)model,low-dose BXD(L-BXD),high-dose BXD(H-BXD)and mesalamine(MS)groups according to a random number table,8 mice in each *** cancer model was induced by AOM/*** was administered daily at doses of 3.915(L-BXD)and 15.66 g/kg(H-BXD)by gavage for consecutive 21 days,and 100 mg/kg MS was used as positive *** the entire modeling cycle,colon length of mice was measured and quantity of colorectal tumors were *** spleen and thymus index were determined by calculating the spleen/thymus weight to body *** cytokine and changes of serum metabolites were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits and ultra performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole/time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q/TOF-MS),*** Notably,BXD supplementation protected against weight loss,mitigated tumor formation,and diminished histologic damage in mice treated with AOM/DSS(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Moreover,BXD suppressed expression of serum inflammatory enzymes,and improved the spleen and thymus index(P<0.05).Compared with the normal group,102 kinds of differential metabolites were screened in the AOM/DSS group,including 48 potential biomarkers,involving 18 main metabolic *** 18 potential biomarkers related to CRC were identified,and the anti-CRC mechanism of BXD was closely related to D-glutamine and D-glutamate metabolism,phenylalanine,tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis,arginine biosynthesis,nitrogen metabolism and so *** BXD exerts partial protective effects on AOM/DSS-induced CRC by reducing inflammation,protecting organism immunity ability,and regulating amino acid metabolism.

Sea-level change in coastal areas of China:Status in 2021

The sea level in coastal areas of China reached the second highest in 2021,just after that recorded in *** force and dynamic analyses based on tide gauges,satellite observations,reanalysis data and regional numerical outputs were conducted to understand these abnormally high sea levels and determine their possible *** show that the coastal sea level of China had increased at an annual rate of 3.4±0.3 mm during 1980-2021,with an acceleration of 0.06±0.02 mm per *** superposition of significant oscillations of quasi-2,3-7,quasi-9,quasi-11,quasi-19 and 20-30 years contributed to the anomalously high sea *** negative-phased El Nino/Southern Oscillation was correlated with the anomalously high sea level and the north-south anti-phase pattern of the coastal sea level in ***,phase lags of 1-4 months occurred with the sea-level *** a decadal timescale,the Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO)was negatively correlated with the anomalous mean sea level(MSL),and the negative-phased PDO contributed to the anomalous sea-level change in ***,the monthly MSL peaked in April and July,and the contribution of wind stress to the anomalously high sea level was 38.5%in the south of the Taiwan Strait in April and 30%along the coast of China in *** results were consistent with the tide gauge and satellite *** agreement was also observed between the coastal sea-level fingerprint and the air and sea surface temperatures.

Clinical relevance of distolingual roots and periodontal status in mandibular first molars: a cross-sectional study employing CBCT analysis

Objectives:Distolingual root of the permanent mandibular first molar(PMFM-DLR)has been frequently reported,which may complicate the treatment of *** study aimed to assess the morphological features of PMFM-DLR and investigate the correlation between the morphological features of PMFM-DLR and periodontal status in patients with Eastern Chinese ethnic *** and methods:A total of 836 cone beam computed tomography(CBCT)images with 1497 mandibular first molars were analyzed to observe the prevalence of PMFM-DLR at the patients and tooth levels in Eastern *** them,complete periodontal charts were available for 69 Chinese patients with 103 *** and regression analyses were used to evaluate the correlation between the morphological features of DLR,bone loss,and periodontal clinical parameters,including clinical attachment loss(CAL),probing pocket depth(PPD),gingival recession(GR),and furcation involvement(FI).Results:The patient-level prevalence and tooth-level prevalence of DLR in mandibular first molars were 29.4%and 26.3%,*** linear regression analysis suggested that bone loss at the lingual site and CAL were negatively affected by the angle of separation between distolingual and mesial roots in the transverse section,while they were significantly influenced by age and the angle of separation between distobuccal and mesial roots in the coronal ***:The prevalence of PMFM-DLR in Eastern China was relatively high in our *** morphological features of DLR were correlated with the periodontal status of mandibular first *** study provides critical information on the morphological features of DLR for improved diagnosis and treatment options of mandibular molars with DLR.
