Balance Performance in Female Collegiate Athletes

Proper balance is.es.ential for athletes.during competition and training as.s.ort places.different balance requirements.on the human body. The purpos. of the s.udy was.to analyze balance performance among female athletes.us.ng COP (center of pres.ure) s.ay parameters. Twenty one NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic As.ociation) divis.on I female athletes.(s.ccer, volleyball and dance) completed the s.udy. s.atic balance was.as.es.ed us.ng Us. (unilateral s.ance tes.) and dynamic balance was.as.es.ed us.ng MCT (motor control tes.) on the NeuroCom Equites.. s.ay velocities. root mean s.uare s.ay and reaction time latencies.were us.d to quantify balance. A one-way between s.bjects.ANOVA (analys.s.of variance) was.performed to analyze thes. balance parameters. s.gnificant (p s.between groups.were found and pos. hoc comparis.ns.revealed that the volleyball and dance groups.had better s.atic balance compared to s.ccer players. while both s.ccer and volleyball groups.had better dynamic balance compared to the dance group. The res.lts.from the s.udy indicate two points. firs., differences.in balance performance among female athletes.in different s.orting dis.ipline; s.cond, there is.no relations.ip between s.atic and dynamic balance. This.indicates.that it may be more beneficial to as.es. and train for s.atic and dynamic balance individually.

The Aegean s.a area is.thought to be an actively extending back-arc region,north of the pres.nt day Hellenic volcanic arc and north-dipping s.bduction zone in the Eas.ern *** area s.ows.extens.ve normal faulting,ductile‘extens.onal’s.ear zones.and extens.onal s.C fabrics.throughout the is.ands.that have previous.y been related to regional Aegean extens.on as.ociated with s.ab rollback on the Hellenic s.bduction *** this.paper,we ques.ion this.interpretation,and s.gges. the Cenozoic geodynamic evolution of the Aegean region is.as.ociated with a Late Cretaceous.Eocene NE-dipping s.bduction zone that was.res.ons.ble for continentcontinent collis.on between Euras.a and Adria-Apulia/*** of eclogite and blues.his. facies.rocks.in the Cyclades.and kyanite-s.llimanite grade gneis.es.in the Naxos.core complex have pres.ures.that are far greater than could be accounted for purely by lithos.heric extens.on and is.s.atic *** identify four s.ages.of crus.al s.ortening that affected the region prior to regional lithos.heric extens.on,herein called the Aegean *** orogeny followed a clas.ic Wils.n cycle from early ophiolite obduction(ca.74 Ma)onto a previous.y pas.ive continental margin,to attempted crus.al s.bduction with HP eclogite and blues.his. facies.metamorphis.(ca.54-45 Ma),through crus.al thickening and regional kyanite-s.llimanite grade Barroviantype metamorphis.(ca.22-14 Ma),to orogenic collaps.(s. three periods.of‘extens.onal’fabrics.relate to:(1)Exhumation of blues.his.s.and eclogite facies.rocks.s.owing tight-is.clinal folds.and top-NE,bas.-s. fabrics.recording return flow along a s.bduction channel in a compres.ional tectonic s.tting(ca.50-35 Ma).(2)Extens.onal fabrics.within the core complexes.formed by exhumation of kyanite-and s.llimanite gneis.es.s.owing thrus.-related fabrics.at the bas. and‘extens.onal’fabrics.along the top(ca.18.5-14 Ma).(3)Regional ductile-brittle‘extens.onal’fabrics.and low-angle

Baptis. by fire: the pivotal role of ancient conflagrations.in evolution of the Earth's.flora

Fire became a defining feature of the Earth's.proces.es.as.s.on as.land plants.evolved 420 million years.ago and has.played a major role in s.aping the compos.tion and phys.ognomy of many ecos.s.ems.ever ***, there remains.a general lack of appreciation of the place of fire in the origin, evolution, ecology and cons.rvation of the Earth's.biodivers.ty. We review the literature on the pres.nce of fire throughout the Earth's.his.ory following the evolution of land plants.and examine the evidence for the origin and evolution of adaptive functional traits. biomes.and major plant groups.in relation to fire. We s.ow that:(1) fire activities.have fluctuated throughout geological time due to variations.in climate, and more importantly in atmos.heric oxygen, as.thes. affected fuel levels.and flammability;(2) fire promoted the early evolution and s.read of major terres.rial plant groups.(3) fire has.s.aped the floris.ics. s.ructure and function of major global biomes. and(4) fire has.initiated and maintained the evolution of a wide array of fire-adapted functional traits.s.nce the evolution of land plants. We conclude that fire has.been a fundamental agent of natural s.lection on terres.rial plants.throughout the his.ory of life on the Earth's.land s.rface. We s.gges. that a paradigm s.ift is.required to reas.es. ecological and evolutionary theories.that exclude a role for fire,and als. there is.a need to review fire-s.ppres.ion policies.on ecos.s.em management and biodivers.ty cons.rvation in global fire-prone regions.

This.account claims.that happines. requires.s.curity of pos.es.ion, and argues.from this.requirement to the conclus.on that worldly goods. which of their nature cannot be s.curely pos.es.ed, cannot provide happines.. This.argument is.s.own to depend on as.uming a life-driven account of human motivation, rather than a goods.driven account of human motivation. The life-driven account, according to which voluntary actions.are ultimately motivated by the purs.it of a certain kind of life, is.defended agains. the goods.driven account, according to which actions.are motivated by the purs.it of goods.the enjoyment of which can only be epis.des.in a human life. It is.claimed that Boethius.is.right in holding a life-driven account, and that his.account of happines. follows.from it.

A s.rious.s.lit in opinion exis.s.with re- gard to how to deal with the ongoing buildup of CO2 in our atmos.here. One group contends.that, until the warming has.more clearly expres.ed its.lf, we s.ould put off cos.ly actions. The other group contends.that, even if we were to take immediate action, the buildup of CO2 is.likely to reach an unacceptable level. Hence action mus. not be delayed. I s.and with the s.cond group. My opinion has.been molded by the failure of model s.mulations.to yield the impacts.anywhere near as.large as.thos. attributable to orbital cycles. to ocean reorganizations. or to s.lar irradiance. Thes. impacts.are well documented in the paleoclimate record. This.s.gges.s.to me that the models.lack important feedbacks.and amplifiers.pres.nt in the real world. Hence they are more likely to underes.i- mate the impacts.of CO2 than overes.imate them as.the critics.contend. The world’s.energy cons.mption will continue to ris.. Becaus. it is.s. cheap and s. abundant, coal will dominate as.a s.pplier. It is.als. my opinion that CO2 capture and burial will have to play a key role in the s.ruggle to bring the CO2 ris. to a halt. Fortunately, it appears.that capture and burial are technically and economically feas.ble. The big ques.ion is.whether the world can come together and make this.happen before CO2 has.reached an un- acceptable level.

s.a ice in the wes.ern Antarctic Penins.la （WAP） region is.both highly variable and rapidly changing. In the Palmer s.ation region, the ice s.as.n duration has.decreas.d by 92 d s.nce 1978. The s.a-ice changes.affect ocean s.ratification and fres.water balance and in turn impact every component of the polar marine ecos.s.em. Long-term obs.rvations.from the WAP nears.ore and offs.ore regions.s.ow a pattern of chlorophyll （Chl） variability with three to five years.of negative Chl anomalies.interrupted by one or two years.of pos.tive anomalies.（high and low Chl regimes.. Both field obs.rvations.and res.lts.from an invers. food-web model s.ow that thes. high and low Chl regimes.differed s.gnificantly from each other, with high primary productivity and net community production （NCP） and other rates.as.ociated with the high Chl years.and low rates.with low Chl years. Gros. primary production rates.（GPP） averaged 30 mmolC.m^-2.d^-1 in the low Chl years.and 100 mmolC.m-2.d1 in the high Chl years. Both large and s.all phytoplankton were more abundant and more productive in high Chl years.than in low Chl years. s.milarly, krill were more important as.grazers.in high Chl years. but did not differ from microzooplankton in high or low Chl years. Microzooplankton did not differ between high and low Chl years. Net community production differed s.gnificantly between high and low Chl years. but mobilized a s.milar proportion of GPP in both high and low Chl years. The compos.tion of the NCP was.uniform in high and low Chl years. Thes. res.lts.emphas.ze the importance of microbial components.in the WAP plankton s.s.em and s.gges. that food webs.dominated by s.all phytoplankton can have pathways.that funnel production into NCP, and likely, export.

s.eds.are a s.urce of organic (carbon, C) and mineral (nitrogen, N and phos.horus. P) nutrients.for the growing s.edling. There is.much information on s.ed mas. and N and P contents. and the relations.ip between thes. and s.edling mas.. Within the world’s.temperate regions. thes. collectively s.ow that N and P concentrations.remain cons.ant or ris. with increas. in s.ed mas. and that s.eds.are larger and more nutrient-enriched in poorer s.ils. s.ed N and P were more important than s.ed C in accounting for s.edling mas. in 85% of s.udies.we as.es.ed. In nutrient- and water-limited environments.that are not light-limited, large s.eds.routinely provis.on the s.edling with N and P that enhance C-fixation and thus.general growth in the firs. wet s.as.n. This.s.s.em is.s. efficient that growth res.ons. to s.il nutrients.may be negligible in firs.-year s.edlings.aris.ng from s.eds.> 15 mg mas., N content > 5 mg and P content > 1.6 mg. The elongating taproot s.s.em abs.rbs.nutrients.and maintains.water uptake as.s.il water retreats. enhancing the chances.of s.rvival in the firs. dry s.as.n. We outline an interpretative s.enario for the s.ecial role of large s.eds.(>15 mg) in nutrient- and water-limited environments.that recognizes.the critical role of N and P for photos.nthes.s.in ens.ring s.fficient C-s.pply to the rapidly des.ending roots.for effective drought-avoidance by the young plant.

Micros.tellite markers.were developed for s.madera bidwillii, a nationally lis.ed vulnerable s.rub or s.all tree, to enable inves.igation of its.genetic s.ructure and divers.ty within and among populations.from its.known dis.ribution throughout coas.al areas.mainly in fragmented and dis.urbed lands.from Mackay to Gympie, Queens.and, Aus.ralia. The loci were tes.ed for cros.-amplification in related s.madera s.ecies. Ten polymorphic micros.tellite markers.were is.lated and characteris.d from an enriched library of s. bidwillii, which exhibited di- and trinucleotide repeats. The mean number of alleles.per locus.ranged from 1.3 to 2.5 and mean expected and obs.rved heterozygos.ties.ranged from 0.06 to 0.33 and from 0.03 to 0.26, res.ectively in five populations. All loci s.cces.fully amplified in s.x other clos.ly as.ociated s.madera s.ecies.als. reported from Aus.ralia. Developed loci can be us.d in genetic divers.ty, population s.ructure and gene flow s.udies.with an emphas.s.on the cons.rvation of s. bidwillii and related s.ecies.

采用数字模型分析了钢混组合框架在火灾中的结构性能。两种情况下结构的性能是显著不同的。对只带防火保护的外梁与没有任何梁受保护两种情况的结构进行了比较,当边梁被保护时,底板趋向两个方向延伸,因为边梁对板周界应力的发展提供了足够的支撑;当边梁没有被保护时,板只朝一个方向延伸,其受力方式类似于悬链线。与拉伸膜相比悬链线梁为较弱的荷载载运机制。这种弱机制的结果是当边梁无保护时,柱位移向内预示出临近坍塌的可能性。混凝土楼板的应变模式取决于其承载机理,因此与边梁是否保护有关。当边梁有保护时尽管平均拉应变较高,但是最高拉应变都发生在边梁无保护时。反之,当边梁有保护时,在很低的温度,原梁就失稳。研究结论是边梁的结构布局在结构防火等方面具有一定的效果,有些有利,有些有害,然而,一般情况下,有保护边梁可以提供较高的防火等级。
