Objective: The a.m of this study wa. to determine body composition, gynecologica., a.d obstetric da.a. sex hormones, a.d prola.tin serum levels in pre- (PREW) a.d postmenopa.sa. women (PMW) with brea.t ca.cer (BC) a.d compa.e them with a.control group (CG) of hea.thy women. Methodology: BC pa.ients without trea.ment or use of hormone repla.ement thera.y, or hormona. birth control, a.d without da.a.of meta.ta.is were included. CG wa. ma.ched for a.e, BMI, a.d menstrua. cycle sta.us. FSH, LH, E2, progesterone, testosterone, a.d prola.tin (PRL) were mea.ured using ra.ioimmunoa.sa. kits. Compa.isons between BC a.d CG were ma.e with “t” tests, a.d with the Ma.n-Whitney U-test;χ2 test wa. used to compa.e the qua.ita.ive va.ia.les between the groups. Results: Seventy-two pa.ients with BC, a.d 74 CG women were eva.ua.ed. Both groups presented overweight da.a. BMI (kg/mt2) = 27.21 ± 5.51 vs. 28.40 ± 4.66, p = ns, for BC pa.ients a.d CG, respectively. In PREW, the a.e a. mena.che wa. la.er in BC pa.ients compa.ed to the CG (13.3 ± 1.36 yea.s vs. 12.41 ± 1.27 yea.s, p = 0.005). The PMW with BC presented a.higher a.e a. mena.che a.d menopa.se compa.ed to the women of the CG (13.51 ± 1.48 vs. 12.91 ± 1.41, p = 0.09, a.d 49.03 ± 2.86 vs. 45.5 ± 8.78, p = 0.03, respectively). PRL levels were significa.tly higher in PMW with BC, in compa.ison with the CG;media. a.d minimum a.d ma.imum va.ues (min-ma.) were: 14.7 ng/mL (3.6 - 52.7) vs. 5.9 ng/mL (1.9 - 33.3), p = 0.005). a.higher percenta.e of PMW with BC (26.0% vs. 7.1%, χ2 = 5.57, p = 0.01) presented hyperprola.tinemia.(PRL serum levels > 20 ng/mL), compa.ed to the GC. Conclusions: The higher levels of PRL in PMW with BC compa.ed with CG, suggest a.prolifera.ive effect of this hormone in the a.fected brea.t tissue. This study demonstra.es the need to use biologica. ma.kers such a. PRL to determine the risk of BC in PMW.

Lea. rust(LR) a.d stripe rust(YR) a.e importa.t disea.es in whea. producing a.ea. worldwide a.d ca.se severe yield losses under fa.ora.le environmenta. conditions when susceptible va.ieties a.e grown. We determined the genetic ba.is of resista.ce to LR a.d YR in va.iety Borla.g 100 by developing a.d phenotyping a.popula.ion of 198 F6 recombina.t inbred lines derived from a.cross with the susceptible pa.ent a.a.#1. LR a.d YR phenotyping were conducted for 4 a.d 3 sea.ons, respectively, a. CIMMYT resea.ch sta.ions in Mexico under a.tificia. epidemics. Mendelia. segrega.ion a.a.yses indica.ed tha. 3–5 LR a.d 2 YR genes conferred resista.ce in Borla.g 100. Lr46/Yr29(1 BL), Yr17(2 a.) a.d Yr30(3 BS) were present in the resista.t pa.ent a.d segrega.ed in the RIL popula.ion ba.ed on cha.a.teriza.ion by molecula. ma.kers linked to these genes. When present a.one, Lr46/Yr29 ca.sed a.era.e 13% a.d 16% reductions in LR a.d YR severities, respectively, in RILs. Simila.ly, Yr17 a.d Yr30 reduced YR severities by 57% a.d 11%, respectively. The Yr30 a.d the Yr17 tra.sloca.ion were a.so a.socia.ed with 27% a.d 14% reductions, respectively, in LR severity, indica.ing tha. the 3 BS a.d 2 a. chromosoma. regions likely ca.ry new slow rusting LR resista.ce genes, tempora.ily designa.ed a. Lr B1 a.d Lr B2, respectively. a.ditive effects of Yr30*Yr17, Yr29*Yr17 a.d Yr29*Yr30 on YR a.d LR were significa.t a.d reduced YR severities by 56%,55%, a.d 45%, respectively, a.d LR severities by 34%, 40%, a.d 45%, respectively.
