Motor Imagery and Error Related Potential Induced Position Control of a Robotic Arm

The paper introduces an electroencephalography(EEG) driven online position control scheme for a robot arm by utilizing motor imagery to activate and error related potential(ErrP) to stop the movement of the individual links, following a fixed(pre-defined) order of link selection. The right(left)hand motor imagery is used to turn a link clockwise(counterclockwise) and foot imagery is used to move a link forward. The occurrence of ErrP here indicates that the link under motion crosses the visually fixed target position, which usually is a plane/line/point depending on the desired transition of the link across 3d planes/around 2d lines/along 2d lines respectively. The imagined task about individual link's movement is decoded by a classifier into three possible class labels: clockwise, counterclockwise and no movement in case of rotational movements and forward, backward and no movement in case of translational movements. One additional classifier is required to detect the occurrence of the ErrP signal, elicited due to visually inspired positional link error with reference to a geometrically selected target position. Wavelet coefficients and adaptive autoregressive parameters are extracted as features for motor imagery and ErrP signals respectively. Support vector machine classifiers are used to decode motor imagination and ErrP with high classification accuracy above 80%. The average time taken by the proposed scheme to decode and execute control intentions for the complete movement of three links of a robot is approximately33 seconds. The steady-state error and peak overshoot of the proposed controller are experimentally obtained as 1.1% and4.6% respectively.

Effect of Vanadium Microalloying on the HAZ Microstructure and Properties of Low Carbon Steels

Four Steels,C-Mn-0.05V,C-Mn-0.11V,C-Mn-0.03nb and C-Mn were subjected to heat treatment to simulate the microstructure of a coarse grained heat affected zone (CGHAZ) and an intercritically reheated coarse grained heat affected zone (ICCGHAZ).This involved reheating to 1350°C,rapid cooling (Δt 8/5 =24s) to room temperature and then reheating to either 750°C or 800°*** toughness of the HAZs was assessed using both Charpy and CTOd *** features were characterised by optical,scanning` and transmission electron *** examinations of the Charpy and CTOd specimens were carried out to understand the micromechanism of fracture under different microstructural and test *** CGHAZ toughness was similar for the steels except that Steel C-Mn-0.05V had a slightly lower ITT compared to the *** toughness deteriorated in the ICCGHAZ for all the steels,again Steel C-Mn-0.05V had a superior toughness compared to the other three steels in both ICCGHAZ *** the level of vanadium to 0.11% caused a decrease in ICCGHAZ *** C-Mn-nb exhibited a greater degradation of impact toughness after the intercritical *** presence of M-A constituents was the dominant factor in determining the toughness of the *** size and area fraction of the M-A constituents were the smallest in Steel *** vanadium level to 0.11% resulted in a greater area fraction of the M-A constituents,larger average and maximum sizes of M-A particles,and significantly more fields containing the *** addition of 0.031% nb produced the largest M-A particles and the greatest area fraction for the steels tested.

Control strategy for seamless transition from islanded to interconnected operation mode of microgrids

Microgrids can operate either interconnected to the utility grid or disconnected forming an island. The transition between these modes can cause transient overcurrents or power oscillations jeopardizing the equipment safety or the system stability. This paper proposes a local multi agent control method for a seamless transfer between the islanded and interconnected modes of operation with agents implemented into the microgrid central switch(MCS) and into the microsources inverters. The MCS agent supervises the grid status and controls the switch for the transition of the microgrid through the different operation modes, while it communicates locally with the inverter agents of the microsources. The inverter agents undertake the synchronization process in case of reconnecting and change the inverter control mode depending on the grid status. Simulation and experimental results are presented to show the performance and feasibility of the proposed strategy.

Ion heat transport in electron cyclotron resonance heated L-mode plasma on the T-10 tokamak

Anomalous ion heat transport is analyzed in the T-10 tokamak plasma heated with electron cyclotron resonance heating(ECRH) in second-harmonic extra-ordinary mode. Predictive modeling with empirical scaling for Ohmical heat conductivity shows that in ECRH plasmas the calculated ion temperature could be overestimated, so an increase of anomalous ion heat transport is required. To study this effect two scans are presented: over the EC resonance position and over the ECRH power. The EC resonance position varies from the high-field side to the low-field side by variation of the toroidal magnetic field. The scan over the heating power is presented with on-axis and mixed ECRH regimes. discharges with high anomalous ion heat transport are obtained in all considered regimes. In these discharges the power balance ion heat conductivity exceeds the neoclassical level by up to 10 times. The high ion heat transport regimes are distinguished by three parameters: the ratio Te/Ti, the normalized electron density gradient R/■, and the ion–ion collisionality νii~*. The combination of high Te/Ti, high νii~*, and R/■=6-10 results in values of normalized anomalous ion heat fluxes up to 10 times higher than in the low transport scenario.

Effects of spacing on dynamics of two coupled Bose-Einstein condensates in two finite traps

Interaction between two coupled Bose-Einstein condensates （BECs） is investigated by the variational approach in two finite traps, and the effects of the spacing between the two traps on dynamics of the two BECs are analyzed. The spacing determines the stable condition of stationary states, affects the existence condition of each BEC, and changes the switching and self-trapping effects on the two BECs. The dynamic mechanism is demonstrated by performing a coordinate of classical particle moving in an effective potential field, and confirmed by the evolution of the atom population transferring ratio.

Equatorial Plasma Bubbles(EPBs)are ionospheric irregularities that take place near the magnetic *** most commonly occur after sunset during the equinox months,although they can also be observed during other *** phenomenon significantly disrupts radio wave signals essential to communication and navigation *** national network of Global navigation Satellite System(GnSS)receivers in Indonesia(>30°longitudinal range)provides an opportunity for detailed EPB *** explore this,we conducted preliminary 3d tomography of total electron content(TEC)data captured by GnSS receivers following a geomagnetic storm on december 3,2023,when at least four EPB clusters occurred in the Southeast Asian *** and extracted TEC depletion with a 120-minute running average were then used as inputs for a 3d tomography *** 2d spatial distribution consistently captured the four EPB clusters over *** tomography results were validated through a classical checkerboard test and comparisons with other ionospheric data sources,such as the Global Ionospheric Map(GIM)and International Reference Ionosphere(IRI)*** of the results demonstrates the capability of the Indonesian GnSS network to measure peak ionospheric *** findings highlight the potential for future three-dimensional research of plasma bubbles in low-latitude regions using existing GnSS networks,with extensive longitudinal coverage.

Comparative Analysis of Photo-Crystallization in a-Se95Te5 and a-Se95In5 Alloys

We report a comparative study on photo-crystallization in a-Se95 Te5 and a-Se95In5 alloys. The photo-crystallization is achieved by a shining white line on the thin films of these alloys in vacuum for different exposure times. The results indicate that photo-crystallization is fast in a-Se95In5 alloy as compared to a-Se95 Te5 alloy. This is explained in terms of lower thermal stability of a-Se95In5 alloy as compared to a-Se95 Te5 alloy.
